Foreboding or Excitement?

Well CL, an excellent OP anmd some interesting comments from all angles.

My glass is always half full: we are 3 points clear of WHU; our destiny is in our hands. Yes, I was f$%ked off on Friday, even more hacked off by the gluttless bum bandits giving a win to the hoof ball merchants, but two wins and a draw and we are guranteed 2nd if not 1st place. So whats the problem?

I went corporate on Friday for my lads birthday and Ricky came in after the game. Was lucky enough to have a chat with him, he was very positive. In answer to my comment "keep your head up Ricky", he simply said "my head is up and we will be promoted!". He gave a very frank view of the result, "Reading were ruthless and we should have had more from the game. Disappointed with the result but our target is to win the league". BTW anyone thinking Ricky was carrying a knock, I dont think he would have been allowed to come up to give a post match talk if he had an injury!!

Ricky is positive, we need to be positive. Support the team, get behind the players and believe. I will probably have no voice left after tomorrow, similar to after the Palace game. We will achieve automatic promotion and after tomorrows games we will be top of the league again!!! COYR

Never been out up there before despite spending a year in Boro doing my MSc.. .you know where we should head in the evening when back form Boro??? Assume red n white stripes won't be a good idea in Newcastle city centre too?

Haven't been out there for years myself, but yes, safe to say footy tops are a definite no-no (especially red & white stripes!!). The Bigg Market used to be the place to go - pretty low-rent, but very very lively. The Quayside may have taken over that mantle now, still v central, and v lively. There used to be a floating nightclub - known simply as 'The boot' (affects Geordie accent) - which was cracking, but I think may have closed now.

Not sure of your experience, but although Geordies are always good value and fairly friendly 'on tour' it isn't always that way on their own patch - so be a little street-smart (and remember, the lads and lasses often stick in their own groups early doors even though they are in couples, so sometimes groups of girls, who are generally always v friendly and a laugh, may not be on their own - an Andy Carroll-a-like may be lurking!). Have a great night - let's hope we're celebrating a win / promotion!

SW11 - cheers for the tips! I live in Manchester now so used to big-city-vibes... only two of us making this trip so should be able to 'blend into the background' although might be tricky when promotion is sealed : )
