We all love the Saints and we deserve to be promoted and must keep the faith.

Let's all hope and pray that we win ALL of our remaining games.

A big following at Peterborough will really help.

Come on you Reds!!!!

Hopefully they're watching Charlton celebrating promotion today and then look back on their videos of Plymouth and Wallsall last year. It was epic and if we do this it will be even more epic.

They had all the drive and passion in the world on Friday night and that will be enough to win most games at this level. We just need to cut out those mistakes and we'll be fine.

Posh are on their holidays now, although they will carry a threat for sure. Middlesborogh are pants IMO and Cov will probably be down by when we play them.

So we've got a decent run in, I'd prefer ours to WHU's anyway.

As much of a dent today has put on things - there's still alot to be positive about.

3 games to go, 3 points ahead. Let's do it.

To be honest, if at the start of the season someone had offered me 2nd place in the Championship, 3 points clear of third, with a goal difference that's 3 better than the only team that could catch us with 3 games to play, one of them against a team in midtable and one against one of the bottom 3, I'd have taken their arm off.

I still think reading might lost at home to either Forest or Palace and away against Bha

. If we get 3 against Posh I think we will go on to beat both Boro and Cov. My one concern is we are relying on Lamberts goals too much. Our midfield and defence need to start chipping in and like we did at the start of the season we have to take our chances. If it is the playoffs I think we will win that anyway.

Guys we will go up! This is all the blame of the douche bags who said the old saints are gone for good! Well guess again you ****ers! We are Southampton, and we will never ever do anything the easy way! Just need to make a final push. We will beat both the boro's and we will draw or beat coventry! Simples! Now stop panicking. We have been unlucky/fonte shot in foot (SIT) in the last 2 defeats. He can't continue being a douche bag because he will get dropped and replaced by the Eastleigh legend that is Martin! De ridder will start at right mid, and we will tear teams a new one. Going forward against reading we looked terrific. We just need to do that to everyteam we face! And the simple fact is, 6-0 or not, WHAM will not win every god damn game. FACT! so relax, enjy the exciting end to the season, and don't forget that we now have to win all those games, which we will, and if reading slip up, the title is ours! GAME ON MOTHER ****ERS!!!!

I've been Uberconfident for weeks but I'm wobbling. Six nil. Six freaking nil. Control the controllables yes but they've landed a massive blow today.

All the pric ks on here who have spent weeks droning on about that collapse in 1942 or whatever the frig it was.

Well, well done you lot. You've got your little wish.

I'm still pretty confident, but it's a big test now. Am trying to work out how valuable our GD lead is now really worth...but it's making my head hurt.

Watch the West Ham goals. If it helps a bit, the Brighton defending was totally incompetent and the goalkeeper was comical.

I totally agree and would have been happy with consolidating this season (perhaps sniffing at the play offs),

BUT

having been up there for so long it all seems to be falling apart. Reading's run has been amazing and hats off to them, whilst West Ham have found a semblance of form (and their goalscoring boots!!!!), whereas we have 4 pts on 4 games!!!!!

Wrist slitting time for me I'm afraid.

AAAAAArrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

Well Bristol City owe us a big favour on Tuesday for sure!!
f*** favours, we need to do this for ourselves, surely today has shown that clearly?? Up to us to be masters of our own destiny.

I think we'll get 7 points from our remaining games with a draw at Middlesboro. We played very well against Reading and on another night we would have gotten a point or three. Reading rode their luck - as teams on a run sometimes do. Peterboro / Coventry are near the bottom because they are crap!

Not too bothered if we don't go up anyway as I living in the Midlands I get to go to quite a few away games (plus Wolves next year!). While you want your team to progress, not sure I would feel the same way about a successful season if the objective is to simply reach 40 points each year.

I maybe clutching at straws, but at least our goal difference is still higher than Reading. Forest can be tough and maybe Reading's luck may run out and they have an off day on Tuesday. A slip for them will really pile the pressure on because of their poor goal difference and Brum away on the last day.

Just got back from the future we win the league. We beat P'Boro 3-1, Reading and West Ham win. We beat Boro 2-0, Reding draw and West Ham lose to Leicester and we win 3-0 against Cov with goals from Sharp, Guly and Morgan. Reading lose and west ham win. Champions. Now everybody stop worrying.

Everyone connected to Southampton Football Club needs to stay strong and focused...

Nigel will have the boys calm and prepared....

The fans will sing and sing and sing at the borough`s and remain positive

If only the same could be said about the forum....as the "towel throwing brigade" will bring us all down on here

Glad i am at London Road...

Don't think anyone wished for a 194? repeat, but flagged it upas how things can go t!ts up from a good position.

As for "control the controllables" , I wish we could, by putting away a few of our multiple chances created in games where we have 60% possession, or take a gilt egded opportunity such as a penalty at 0-0, and above all we don't easily give possession away (three times) to give opponents chances... Had we controlled these things we should have "controlled" , then we'd be points clear .

Let's enjoy the dramatic events and keep some perspective. The team is capable of getting themselves in those big occasions which is something a lot of the midtable teams would envy us. Every match leaves us as nerve wrecks but the players are professionals and believe in their own worth as a team. We're still ahead of West Ham and another screw-up would only leave us even - not necessarily trailing.

And if we somehow manage to screw it up, the world doesn't actually end. I could think of worse punishments than another season in this exciting league.

Now we take it one match at a time, make sure to do our own business and assume that our opponents will take their maximum points.

COYS!

I think the fact our next game is coming so soon is a bonus. We only have to wait a few days to try and bounce back into contention. If it was an 8 day wait, it would be worse.

Ha, wrong - even if we manage to screw it up, we still get a shot in the playoff lottery!

I think we get your point CB Fry, but ..where were you in history lessons at school? 1942 (?) ..World War 2 was in full flow..you heard about that I suppose?

I think the thread you referred to was about season 1948-49 (you weren't expected to know that) ..unless like me ..your father was a fan at that time.

The facts are too painful to repeat, except to say, that for those people who comment that " history repeats itself " it is a timely reminder that things don't always go as we expect them to.

KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!

looking foward to tomorow night, Peterboro know that we will want that win so much more then they could ever dream and we can do it

Positive, yes I am !

Would anybody rather be in West Ham's position than ours ?

Bristol City and Leicester away are not by any means straightforward (even with the impetus of a 6 nil win behind you) !!

[h=2]Positivity Required[/h]

Meh - You know what? you lot can take Positivity. I'll take 6 goals same as WHU managed with RL getting 3 of them.

Think that'll be much more useful

I remember last February / March time and Saints went through a few pretty disappointing results, 4-4 at Peterborough, 0-0 at Hartlepool, the loss at Walsall. I really thought we had thrown away our automatic promotion chance as Huddersfield seemed so consistent and had the points on the board. But Adkins and the team proved me wrong so I’m going to continue to believe we can do this.
