SaintBobby Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 dreadful weekend. May need 7 points, not six now....
Window Cleaner Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Yep. I reckon Gusset threw it. I sense money changing hands. Probably not Gus throwing it but they should look at Brezovan he was absolutely f*cking woeful in the 15 minutes that I saw. Defence wasn't any better, just gave West Ham the ball and let them get on with it.
acersaint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 OMG just got in and saw Hammers score. I have burst out laughing because I dont want to cry. The Boro result will have us all on tenterhooks, I have said it before being a Saints fan has never been boring. WE WILL DO IT.
Gigersaint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Well that was the worst weekend of results in a long while, looking forward to Tuesday night now, hopefully after that things will all start look a bit better again!
Crab Lungs Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Wouldn't be surprised if Gold/Sullivan promised a nice little backhander to Brighton if they bottle it. They helped keep Pompey on life support after all..
Matthew Le God Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Wouldn't be surprised if Gold/Sullivan promised a nice little backhander to Brighton if they bottle it. Brighton had more than enough incentive to do well today, they were only 2 points outside a playoff spot.
SaintBobby Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We should still be fine. 2 wins out of three is still probably enough - and I reckon we can manage that.
alpine_saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Brighton had more than enough incentive to do well today, they were only 2 points outside a playoff spot. then it was a nice big backhander........
The9 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 they will win...by 3 or 4 IMO and the wet fannies will be shivering wrecks about out goal difference and how we should have signed 5 more players First thing you've ever got right...
Micky Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We're gonna cock it up. Could well do, all the pressure is on us now. A couple of weeks ago we were 5 points clear - now those points have disappeared as have our goal difference. Just remains to be seen if our confidence has been blown as well - if if has - its goodnight prem.
.comsaint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Our destiny is still in our own hands - which is all we can ask at this stage. We're not relying on anyone. It's ours to f.uck up or succeed.
Frank's cousin Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Could well do, all the pressure is on us now. A couple of weeks ago we were 5 points clear - now those points have disappeared as have our goal difference. Just remains to be seen if our confidence has been blown as well - if if has - its goodnight prem. And hello championship winning run next season... come on we are way ahead of where we though we would be right now with this side. Its been a brilliant season and far form over yet - there will still be twists and turns to come. We go up, great. We dont, we learn and try again next season, with teh resources and mindset, we have we will be there or there abouts...
beavis17 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Coventry now have Millwall and Doncaster at home. That last game may not be as easy as some are predicting...
monosaint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We just need to match WHUs results and we are clear by 3 points. It's as simple as that. Bristol City need more points, Leicester will not let WHU win.. If they lose one of those then we just need a win and a draw.. Believe.. More twists to come.. Reading think they are all but promoted. Dangerous! If Notts. Forest beat them and we win at Peterborough we go top again.. Don't need motivating for that one..
SaintBobby Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Coventry now have Millwall and Doncaster at home. That last game may not be as easy as some are predicting... Agree. I think it's quite important they have nothing to play for on the final day.
DG Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Worst couple of days of results really. Shocker. Aye, worst weekend in a while.
geoffnut Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We need to win our last 3 games, nothing else will do. West Ham and Reading must now be favourites for automatic promotion now that goal difference is closer. Unless our defence improves considerably I am very pessimistic that we can get 9 points. What a disgrace Brighton were today, but it is still in our own hands thank goodness.

Ashby Saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 (edited) [Responds to post earlier in thread about Coventry - forgot to quote it] They are in the relegation zone with 3 games to go because they are crap. Whether they are relegated or not doesn't matter to me. I always thought that relegated teams sometimes play better when the pressure is off anyway. If we play to our potential we will win regardless of what Coventry do - they are not Reading. Edited 14 April, 2012 by Ashby Saint Muppet forgot to quote post
Graffito Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Just seen the Wham goals. Totally incompetent defending by Brighton and the goalkeeper.....words fail me. It looks almost like he let some of them in on purpose.
ooh it's a corner Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 I was thinking after the Portsmouth result that what is important is what happens over the entire season. Not what happens in any 90 minutes, or for that matter, any given second that a goal is scored. Portsmouth has a limited view of the world, and will be crowing today that WHam have closed the gap, they are not yet relegated and we are going to bottle it. We know better than that. I have no doubt that Portsmouth will be relegated at the end of this season. We will save our gloating until then. I also believe that we will secure enough points to keep West Ham in third place. It was good for us that Bristol City didnt win today, it will keep them hungry for the visit of West Ham. Good luck to them for Tuesday. I will enjoy the trip to Peterborough, we will have large numbers there and will get plenty of opportunities to score. I expect I will enjoy the trip back better, with 3 points in the bag, and with Portsmouth finally put out of their misery. Hopefully courtesy of a Bristol win. If WestHam do win, then we have to beat Peterborough. Beat Peterborough and beat Coventry and WestHam wont catch us. They will not get a hatfull of goals against their remaining opponents. I dont care about winning the league and never have done, the prize is promotion, hopefully via automatic places. Portsmouth will probably crow about how they won it, when they last got promotion. Good luck to them on that, personally, I will be supporting a premiership side next year and they will not have anyone to support. We can put on chin on our chests, or we can go to London Road, knowing that we need to win and we can play as well as we played against Reading and come away with 3 points. Plenty more twists and turns ahead, but I can't see anything but an away win on Tuesday COYR and WTFILN ?
Turkish Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We need to win our last 3 games, nothing else will do. What a disgrace Brighton were today, but it is still in our own hands thank goodness. What a load of nonsense. Why would West Ham be favourites? We are still 3 points ahead of them with 3 to go and we still have. Better goal difference and they have a harder last 3 games.
badgerx16 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We are better than our result yesterday, WHU are not as good as their's today. It's a 3 game shoot out, 2 away and then 1 at home, and we start with a 3 point lead. Control the controllables.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 (edited) Lots of ifs and buts this afternoon. Obviously the big one is going on at Upton Park, let's hope the Hammers form continues for a couple more games. Here are the fixtures and who I think we want to win each one (in bold). Barnsley vs Cardiff - To try and cut Boro adrift of 6th place by the time we go there, so they have nothing to play for.Cardiff won Brum vs Bristol City - Want Brum's playoff spot not being secure when Reading come to town on the last day (unlikely I know). Would all but send Pompey down. DRAW Burnley vs Coventry - Want Coventry down by the last day. DRAW Derby vs Boro - Same reason as Cardiff game. BORO WIN Donny vs Pompey - Well obviously POMPEY WIN Leeds vs Posh - Would help if Posh were mathematically safe on Tuesday. They're all but there, 9 point clear of drop zone. LEEDS WIN Millwall vs Leicester - Need Leicester in the playoff hunt when Wham go to the Walkers. MILLWALL WIN Forest vs Blackpool - Again, same as Cardiff game. Also Forest not safe yet, want to keep it that way until they've played Reading. DRAW Watford vs Hull - Hull go to Wham on the last day. If they were still in the playoff hunt, that would be good. Would also push them above Boro DRAW West Ham vs Brighton - Obviously. 6-0 HAMMERS Then there's Ipswich away to Palace, which we just plain don't give a sh*t about. Come on you Seaguls!!! Just 1 right out of the lot! Couldn't have been much worse really could it All down to us and what we do now it was always unlikely to happen depending on others Edited 14 April, 2012 by Saint Without a Halo
Window Cleaner Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Just seen the Wham goals. Totally incompetent defending by Brighton and the goalkeeper.....words fail me. It looks almost like he let some of them in on purpose. Told you so, I watched it on L'Equipe TV until it got unbearable.West Ham could have been 1 up after about 15 seconds thanks to Brezovan's incompetence, hit the bar though so they had to wait another 2 minutes until they gave Vaz Te a free shot and Brezovan just watched it go in.
lordswoodsaints Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 I just cannot believe that nobody has benefitted financially from the WHU v Brighton game, not only have the hammers got 3 points at home (where they have been crap) against a decent Brighton side who are pushing for a play off place, but they have also scored 6 goals to up their goal difference......it just doesn't seem right to me. If there is a game to be investigated then this surely is the number 1 candidate,it's no fluke something doesn't add up IMO.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 it is now like Huddersfield last year but over 3 games and not 7 and we need to ruthlessly close out the hammers as we did to hudders!
Window Cleaner Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 What a ****e weekend... Last weekend was a sh*te weekend as well and the one before that.

Look, if West Ham and Birmingham or Blackpool should be repromoted everybody in the NPC benefits to a massive extent, even us. The system is just WRONG, a team with nothing to play for has every interest to lose to a relegated team with PPs getting repromoted as soon as possible. Watch Posh come out and give us grief on Tuesday just like they did to Reading. Edited 14 April, 2012 by Window Cleaner
Liquidshokk Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Are people expecting Peterborough to be a push over?! Don't remember games against them being particularly easy
Chez Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 **** day, it will just make the win on Tuesday that more special
Window Cleaner Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Are people expecting Peterborough to be a push over?! Don't remember games against them being particularly easy Peterborough 3- Reading 1 that's all I've to say about it. The only side to beat Reading since about October.
Graffito Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Are people expecting Peterborough to be a push over?! Don't remember games against them being particularly easy The two home games were comfortable. I think it was 4-4 away from home last season. The uncertainty is that they are a maverick team.

acersaint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 if we play against Posh the same way we played against Reading we should win. Back 4 bound to have got a rocket from the boss.
adrian lord Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 The two home games were comfortable. I think it was 4-4 away from home last season. The uncertainty is that they are a maverick team. Yea but they had C M-S playing well then didn't they?
Chez Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Are people expecting Peterborough to be a push over?! Don't remember games against them being particularly easyabsolutely not. They will raise their game against us as we've stuffed them several times and they think they were hard done by last time at theirs. No easy games in this league.
S-Clarke Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Just saw the highlights from the WHU game, Brighton couldn't look less bothered. When the 6th went in Liam Bridcutt was even grinning? Don't get that.
