P'boro build up thread

Agreed. Wham, unfortunately are coming into a rich vein of form. I think we will need to get at least 7 points from our next three games to stand any chance of going up.

3 wins in the last 10 games (assuming you include them winning today). Is that really that 'rich'?

Plenty of goals in this game for us. Posh conceded four against a Leeds side struggling to score today. If we remain positive in our play we'll win. I expect West Ham to win as well. Then we have an interesting match at Boro which is played 48hrs before West Ham visit Leicester. A real chance to place massive pressure on West Ham. Then I expect us to need something against Coventry to secure promotion, which we are capable of.

However, not sure my heart can take much more!

This is an absolutely must win for us now, can't see us winning at Boro.

We cant afford to lose at Middlesborough now given the GD is only 3 (a win for hammers and a loss for us is likely to turn this around) never mind the fact hammers are home to Hull on the last day who have nothing to play for and my heart couldnt stand a goal chase between us and coventry and hammers and hull!

Apart from a pretty handy lead at the top of the Championship that is.Before the Blackpool game we were what 5 ahead of Reading and 9 ahead of West Ham although they had a game in hand, now we're 3 behind the former and 3 ahead of the latter and our GDadvantage has shrunk alarmingly, I'm not giving up but we could still blow the unblowable. If we don't go up I think Mr C will be right p*ssed off, sacking someone p*ssed off.

to be fair...who would you rather play at on tuesday..?

city or posh..?

Posh every time. I think our (final) saving grace is West Ham's run in. Away at City and Leicester is tough, although their away record is excellent.

We have to beat P'Boro (this is already a f**king nightmare - getting one over on Darren Ferguson)

We have to draw with Middlesbrough now that Wham have killed the GD advantage (who will need to secure a play-off berth)

We have to beat Coventry (who may need a win to stay up)

We couldnt have made this much more difficult for ourselves.

It's much more difficult for West Ham though.

We could be three points behind wham with a worse goal difference. That might be worse, what do ya reckon?

Alternatively:

We need a win at a team with nothing to play for and our fans will make nearly 50% of the crowd.

We need a draw against a team whose home record is nothing special.

We need a win against a team already relegated or need to come on a kamikaze must win mission.

If it comes to that - I don't fancy us at all to be honest. We are a footballing side (as we showed yesterday) but when that fails we don't have the toughness to force a result. Pretty football is not whats needed in the playoffs. It's sh it or bust now - we either do it or bottle it and find ourselves in this league for some years to come.

Please stop responding to alpine, he's an idiot who serves no purpose other that to drone on with the same pointless arguments ignoring all fact and reason. Put him on your ignore list and save the rest of us the tedium of his ridiculous 'opinions'.

The last time Saints won 6-0, we had a 0-0 bore draw at home to Notts County the next game. Form is fickle.

Well put. Anyway, Pompey could have beaten Brighton by 6 today.

Madness. You are assuming that WH will win 4 in a row (possible, nothing more) and, in the process, they will overturn a GD of +9. Highly, highly unlikely. We've even scored more goals as well.

Please be realistic.

Sorry, who is being realistic here ?

No Saints for 45 years so I think I know what I am saying. At the end of the day you have to get on with it and paly your best whoever you are facing making statements about Pompey playing WHam are just facile.

I can match your 45 years fwiw but I think that's irrelevant. I think the point being made by the other poster is that Brighton performed so poorly even the Skates could have beaten them (did you see the inept defending?) which might suggest that Wham have not suddenly found the blinding form that has eluded them so far.

The defending wasn't inept it was non existent, they just gave West Ham the ball and let them score 3 times in 10 minutes and hit the bar as well.
