Dalek2003 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Madness. You are assuming that WH will win 4 in a row (possible, nothing more) and, in the process, they will overturn a GD of +9. Highly, highly unlikely. We've even scored more goals as well. Please be realistic. Being realistic.....
SW11_Saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Agreed. Wham, unfortunately are coming into a rich vein of form. I think we will need to get at least 7 points from our next three games to stand any chance of going up. 3 wins in the last 10 games (assuming you include them winning today). Is that really that 'rich'?
Thedelldays Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 well....as must win as you can get...unless anyone fancies their chances of a win up at boro on the telly...?
adrian lord Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 3 wins in the last 10 games (assuming you include them winning today). Is that really that 'rich'? Well at 6-0, it is pretty rich for the last 80 mins...!
Joesaint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Wow, must win. I really hope the team are able to pick themselves up. This game is huge. COYS good luck.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Plenty of goals in this game for us. Posh conceded four against a Leeds side struggling to score today. If we remain positive in our play we'll win. I expect West Ham to win as well. Then we have an interesting match at Boro which is played 48hrs before West Ham visit Leicester. A real chance to place massive pressure on West Ham. Then I expect us to need something against Coventry to secure promotion, which we are capable of. However, not sure my heart can take much more!
aintforever Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 This is an absolutely must win for us now, can't see us winning at Boro.
Amesbury Saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 win at posh and we are almost there Exactly. Even if west ham win as well. 3 points ahead with each team having 2 to play. Lose against posh and west ham win then all over.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 This is an absolutely must win for us now, can't see us winning at Boro. We cant afford to lose at Middlesborough now given the GD is only 3 (a win for hammers and a loss for us is likely to turn this around) never mind the fact hammers are home to Hull on the last day who have nothing to play for and my heart couldnt stand a goal chase between us and coventry and hammers and hull!
View From The Top Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Going. Don't want to, had a enough of this sh it to last me two lifetimes & think we've totally blown it. Going to Boro and Cov' as well but won't be going to any play off games. Fu ck that.

beavis17 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Get yourself to London Road on Tuesday if you haven't already got a ticket! The boys need the support. We'll still do this!
Window Cleaner Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Come on mate, don't give up. We haven't blown anything. Apart from a pretty handy lead at the top of the Championship that is.Before the Blackpool game we were what 5 ahead of Reading and 9 ahead of West Ham although they had a game in hand, now we're 3 behind the former and 3 ahead of the latter and our GDadvantage has shrunk alarmingly, I'm not giving up but we could still blow the unblowable. If we don't go up I think Mr C will be right p*ssed off, sacking someone p*ssed off.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 A massive test of character.... We have dealt with pressure before and can do it again...
LGTL Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 This is the type of game we all love/hate football for.
Thedelldays Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 fail to win this...and I think we have blown it.... its still on
SW11_Saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Well at 6-0, it is pretty rich for the last 80 mins...! One game, against a less than useless Brighton side. Leicester and Brizzle will have more fight.
Thedelldays Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 to be fair...who would you rather play at on tuesday..? city or posh..?
Lighthouse Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We need to equal Whams next to results and we can go into the last day needing a draw. All 4 games are away, which would you rather have; Bristol and Leicester or Posh and Boro? I'd take the latter any day of the week.
LGTL Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 to be fair...who would you rather play at on tuesday..? city or posh..? Posh every time. I think our (final) saving grace is West Ham's run in. Away at City and Leicester is tough, although their away record is excellent.
badgerx16 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posh every time. I think our (final) saving grace is West Ham's run in. Away at City and Leicester is tough, although their away record is excellent. I think ours is better over the last 10 or 11 away games.
Sour Mash Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Get yourself to London Road on Tuesday if you haven't already got a ticket! The boys need the support. We'll still do this! This. Time for our support to step up to its absolute best.
alpine_saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We have to beat P'Boro (this is already a f**king nightmare - getting one over on Darren Ferguson) We have to draw with Middlesbrough now that Wham have killed the GD advantage (who will need to secure a play-off berth) We have to beat Coventry (who may need a win to stay up) We couldnt have made this much more difficult for ourselves.
alpine_saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 This. Time for our support to step up to its absolute best. How about the players like Fonte, Fox and Lallana doing the same ?
S-Clarke Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We have to beat P'Boro (this is already a f**king nightmare - getting one over on Darren Ferguson) We have to draw with Middlesbrough now that Wham have killed the GD advantage (who will need to secure a play-off berth) We have to beat Coventry (who may need a win to stay up) We couldnt have made this much more difficult for ourselves. It's much more difficult for West Ham though.
GAS Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We could be three points behind wham with a worse goal difference. That might be worse, what do ya reckon? We have to beat P'Boro (this is already a f**king nightmare - getting one over on Darren Ferguson) We have to draw with Middlesbrough now that Wham have killed the GD advantage (who will need to secure a play-off berth) We have to beat Coventry (who may need a win to stay up) We couldnt have made this much more difficult for ourselves.
alpine_saint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 We could be three points behind wham with a worse goal difference. That might be worse, what do ya reckon? Having just buried a top 10 team by 6 goals and feeling on top of the world ???
Micky Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 As long as West Ham do not start battering teams, I still think it might come down to goal difference!
badgerx16 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Having just buried a top 10 team by 6 goals and feeling on top of the world ??? Brighton capitulated. Can't you find just one little thing to be positive about - just for a change ?

Alternatively: We need a win at a team with nothing to play for and our fans will make nearly 50% of the crowd. We need a draw against a team whose home record is nothing special. We need a win against a team already relegated or need to come on a kamikaze must win mission.
Micky Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Going. Don't want to, had a enough of this sh it to last me two lifetimes & think we've totally blown it. Going to Boro and Cov' as well but won't be going to any play off games. Fu ck that. If it comes to that - I don't fancy us at all to be honest. We are a footballing side (as we showed yesterday) but when that fails we don't have the toughness to force a result. Pretty football is not whats needed in the playoffs. It's sh it or bust now - we either do it or bottle it and find ourselves in this league for some years to come.
Graffito Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Having just buried a top 10 team by 6 goals and feeling on top of the world ??? So you'd rather be in West Ham's position?
mitch01 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 http://notplayedonpaper.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/reading-show-value-of-art-of-half.html Don't know about anyone else, but I'm even more up for the Pboro game now! Would much rather be in our position than West Ham's, and we were unlucky last night, no doubt. Time for us to turn things back in our favour with a comprehensive win! Come on you Saints!
Lighthouse Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Please stop responding to alpine, he's an idiot who serves no purpose other that to drone on with the same pointless arguments ignoring all fact and reason. Put him on your ignore list and save the rest of us the tedium of his ridiculous 'opinions'. The last time Saints won 6-0, we had a 0-0 bore draw at home to Notts County the next game. Form is fickle.
GAS Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Well put. Graffito Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 With their away record yes I think I would Are you Alpine in disguise?
bfryer Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Yes but Pompey weren't playing them were they and you can only beat what is in front of you on the day!!
Dalek2003 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Being realistic, we are possibly going to have to prepare fot the play offs.

bfryer Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 No Saints for 45 years so I think I know what I am saying. At the end of the day you have to get on with it and paly your best whoever you are facing making statements about Pompey playing WHam are just facile.

At the end of the day you have to get on with it and paly your best whoever you are facing making statements about Pompey playing WHam are just facile. I can match your 45 years fwiw but I think that's irrelevant. I think the point being made by the other poster is that Brighton performed so poorly even the Skates could have beaten them (did you see the inept defending?) which might suggest that Wham have not suddenly found the blinding form that has eluded them so far.
Dalek2003 Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 It's a case of a bridge too far. The interesting question is whether we are set up for the play offs ? Will Lee and Connelly be available ?

The defending wasn't inept it was non existent, they just gave West Ham the ball and let them score 3 times in 10 minutes and hit the bar as well.

ludgershallsaint Posted 14 April, 2012 Posted 14 April, 2012 Sorry, who is being realistic here ? Firstly you said we need 7 points to have a chance of going up - wrong. We will go up if we get seven. As far as I can gather WH won 1 game today. It is still unlikely that they will win the next 3.
