Not to worried about Friday, Win and we are nearly up. Draw is a decent result for both us and Reading, defeat is not great but not the end of the world. Would be nice if Brighton get an equaliser though!

That's a fair assessment.

I'm not that worried about the result. It's more and more unlikely that we'll need to finish above Reading rather than WHU to go up, so the psychological damage to the Hoofers seeing 2nd place 6 pts away now for me outweighs the threat to us winning the league.

Much as I'd love to finish top, being in the top two is far more important.

Although it's not critical, think it's very important for the last games for us to get at least a draw on Friday and hold onto top spot. Think it'll be a cracking game between the two best teams in the league. And how I hope that Brighton can take their frustration from tonight out on the hoofers.

West Ham v Brighton should be massive for both teams. Brighton HAVE to win to have any chance of making the play-offs.

Which team wants it most?

WHU should win it, but I've said that about their last 8 home games.

Brighton are all style but no substance.

Listening to the Reading 'taters, nerves seem to pervade the entire set up.

Look at how many chances Brighton created tonight. Then imagine Sharp or Rickie on the end of them.

They put a lot into that game and their resources were stretched tonight.

If anything that result & game gives me more confidence going into Friday's game.

Shame it's on Sky.......

Although I remember the early days of Friday night Sky at the Dell...... We never seemed to lose those televised games. One cracker against the scousers springs to mind

The key thing is that Brighton have something to play for. That only guarantees effort though.

I see in the round of games next Tuesday, WH's opponents are Bristol so there's a chance they'll need a result too.

Lets look at the positives - Brighton lost - Reading have 24hrs less than us to recover before Friday- Brighton will be even more desperate for a win v Wet Spam - Brighton created a lot of chances - oh and Brighton lost

and portsmouth are all but relegated

Makes no difference other than to the Goal difference - unless they've started deducting points for losing ;)

Title would be nice though.

We could win two 1-0 and lose two 4-0. Then, I believe, we could have an issue if WH win all four of their games. As you can tell, I am always considering the worse case scenario until it is no longer possible :D

Its confirmed what we already suspected. BHA are a lower league club with a second rate team. This first season in the NpC, mainly on the fringe of the play-off zone may prove to be a peak for them. Expect them to settle in the middle of the second level. It may be many years before we play them again, unless they get lucky and draw us in a cup game, although we could do them a favour and offer them a pre-season 'friendly'.

Not even in my worst nightmares did i consider that scenario - but having been a saints supporter for 50 years, I realise you are your mindset is the right one !

Anyway - onwards and upwards to the Title !! COYS!!

West Ham have only won 3 out of their last 10 games so why should they win the next four? Apprecfiate you can't rule out the possible until it becomes impossible but it is so improbablo as not to merit serious consideration. We are going up and the only real question is whether it is as Champions or as Runners-up, but as Brighton found this year, once you move up, the position in which you ended the previous season makes no difference.

If we lose to Reading and West Ham beat Brighton, then its just 3 points with 3 to play. West Ham will also beat Bristol City away easily......just saying, that is all.

In a strange way this is good news. Reading wont be as desparate for the points on Friday. They know now that even if they lose and Wham win, theyre still 3 points up on Wham with 2 very easy home games to come.

They will be absolutely desperate to go 3 points clear of us, make no doubts about that. A win against us will pretty much win the league for them due to the 2 home games they have directly after. This is huge for both teams.

How would you prefer Portsmouth's relegation?

Would you like them to go down by more than ten points, so that they can't even blame the points deduction and have to admit they were one of the worst teams in the league?

Or would you prefer them to go down by fewer than ten points, so that they have the pain of knowing that on the pitch they did well enough to stay up, but won't?

at least people can stop being nice to Mr Poyet now and say what a tw*t he is

I'd still quite like Mr Poyet to beat West Ham though...Indeed, of the two, a Brighton victory against West Ham was always going to be more helpful than a Brighton win against Reading.

well, with the other results this weekend....brighton really need at least a point at upton park to keep their playoff chances alive..as nearly all of the other playoff chasers have very winnable games

as for reading.....they sounded like we did against leeds......very lucky

maybe defending like that all game..it will be too much for them to come to us and win also..?
