CB Fry Posted 10 April, 2012 Share Posted 10 April, 2012 It's going to be absolute agony on here next season with the parade of utter dipsh it s on this forum with their "media conspiracy against Saints" routine. Anyone still saying Claridge has somethng against us after everything he's said about us this season (and the pastings he's dished out to that lot down the road) really are a waste of good oxygen. Utter, utter, utter morons.

Highfield Saint Posted 10 April, 2012 Share Posted 10 April, 2012 Without being rude - I'm sort of hoping that you're not older than 13. You have some serious issues. Have a think about some of the people who have been associated with both us and the skates - do you hold them all with the same distain. Steve Claridge is (imo) one of the more knowledgable pubdits on the BBC - he knows the leagues, the players, managers and personalities that he comments on. I have both heard him on radio and seen him on tv often give us high praise - but the reality is that he just tells it like it is. As somebody above has already said - he was one of the most outspoken media person when commenting on the skates current administration. He didn't pull any punches, and gave a forthright honest opinion. I didn't see the FLS, but if he choked trying to praise our current achievements - I'll take it as a back handed compliment - thanks Steve. Without being rude? Almost always a precursor for being exactly that. I'm sort of hoping that you're not older than 13? Yep. I am. Another of life's hopes shattered eh? You have some serious issues? Maybe you do know me - or are you in the astrology business? Yes I have my fair share - dislike of Claridge and skates are not amongst them though. Have a think...? You are clearly a professional. I havent been patronised so nicely for a long time. Do I hold them all with the same distain? No actually. Claridge and a number of others - yes. All of them - no. One of the more knowledgeable pundits.. He tells it like it is.. He is actually getting (probably very well) paid to express an unbiased opinion. Are you sure that his personal views are reflected in his professional persona? from what I have heard he is very supportive of the skates and has tried to distance himself from this in order that it doesnt prevent his progression as a pundit. I dont know you and I am pretty sure you dont know me so you have made a summary assessment of me ("imo") based on around 100 words on an internet forum. To be fair though you have done the same with "Steve" unless you know him personally of course in which case I sincerely apologise. I havent any time for the skates, their football club or their supporters just as they dont have any time for us. I have been subject to abuse by them both physical and verbal and have grown tired of meeting strangers from portsmouth who immediately call me a "scummer". I dont put up with it any more. F**k the dirty skate bast***s.

capitalsaint Posted 11 April, 2012 Share Posted 11 April, 2012 I vote lunatic. When he scored for Millwall in the fa cup year I hated Claridge, but have been very impressed with the things he has said about us. Only echoing what others have said, but I'd much rather listen to him than any of the Match of The Day pundits.

F**k the dirty skate bast***s. From his broadcast statements he is anything but supportive of the behaviour that took them to where they are. In fact he was blunt enough to suggest that they deserved everything that was coming. But, never mind, as I said elsewhere, never let facts get in the way of a good prejudice. Kingsland Codger Posted 12 April, 2012 Share Posted 12 April, 2012 my dad tells me Paul Walsh did the game on Sky yesterday, Dad said you could see him struggling with praising Saints. to be fair my old man is late 70's and whilst a season ticket holder in the Kingsland his faculties are beginning to go so not sure if it is true or not Your Dad was bang on the money. Walsh seemed effusive in anything Palace did and only lukewarm (if that) on Saints. I, too, am a season ticket holder in the Kingsland and am probably closer to your Dad's age than yours, so it is possible my faculties are also on the wane - but not, I think, in this case. Guan 2.0 Posted 12 April, 2012 Share Posted 12 April, 2012 I vote lunatic. When he scored for Millwall in the fa cup year I hated Claridge, but have been very impressed with the things he has said about us. Only echoing what others have said, but I'd much rather listen to him than any of the Match of The Day pundits. Oh indded. And just today: Steve Claridge urged Pompey to learn their lessons and insisted: You don’t have to pay players £1m a year to succeed. The former Blues player and boss, who now works as a television pundit, has been a frustrated spectator as his boyhood club battle for survival on and off the pitch. And having seen Pompey enter administration and suffer relegation in 2010, Claridge cannot believe the same mistakes have been made again, just two years on. Now the striker, currently plying his trade with Gosport Borough in Southern League division one south & west, wants to see the Blues embrace a new blueprint for the future – casting high-earners aside. Claridge said: ‘If Pompey drop down to League One, as is looking increasingly likely, hopefully they’ll stabilise and start again with a mixture of home-grown players and people on lower wages. ‘Then when they get back up into the Championship maybe, just maybe, they will learn and do things a different way. ‘You can’t blitz your way out of the division. ‘You’ve got to put some foundations in place and build from there. Fortunately, I think Michael Appleton gets the situation and understands what the club have to do to progress.’ The Gosport-born 46-year-old cites another Gosport lad Matt Ritchie – who left Fratton Park for Swindon last year – as the type of player Pompey should be looking to keep and build their squad around in the future. Ritchie looks on track for promotion with the Robins and was named League Two player of the year this season. Fellow Fratton trainee Marlon Pack is another to impress in the division with Cheltenham. The article continues at: http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/claridge-pompey-must-cast-high-earners-aside-1-3722963 and the thanks he gets from his portsmouth chums? [h=3]russian chris[/h] Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 01:44 PM Oh wow! What an article. Of course,we have never heard any of these remarks before! Waste of space. F**k the dirty skate bast***s. Your absolutely right - I did. (Because that is all that I had to go on, and that is how you came across in your opening post). Having read this post I accept, that for some unknown reason, you appear to simply have an irrational distain for some skates, of which Steve Claridge is included. I also accept that you are older than 13 and perhaps should apologise for my patronising - but as I said - that's how the post came across. Read post 57. Read post 60. Foxstone Posted 12 April, 2012 Share Posted 12 April, 2012 Claridge has really matured as a pundit, totally honest and impartial - he tells it as he sees it ! He has been wholly objective about us and Portsmuff all season long and has given us every fair due, and the Skates a pasting when needed. Good on him I say ! Also to the "black and Whire Brigade ou there".. it might pay to remember that our FA Cup 1976 winner was scored by a Pompey Boy born and bred, so not all are bad are they?
