Great composure today

amazing fans...no real team talk required, hearing and seeing all the fans when they were driving to the ground on the bus was all that was needed

players amazed and very thankful with fans

had to quickly put the pompey game to bed. move on and did what we had to do today

Fonte should have scored

focus on the next game

amazing following by fans, players desperate to win it for them

it was a tactic to get lambert against clyne when butterfield had the ball.....it paid off today

able to make a couple of changes for the game, credit to squad.

morgan very sore. has a nasty gash on his leg

all players are desperate to be involved in the final games

players sat and watched a video made of the season so far, including pre season and it brought a smile to all their faces

controlled the game today and pleasing performance

he's not daft this Adkins fella.

Aye. People like to put him down. I think this is largely to do how he speaks - he is quite softly spoken (not really a football thing, save for someone like Wenger) and is full of clichés that are not the usual classic football ones. They tend to overlook that he was a professional in his time, and focus on the physio bit. To me that adds to his CV - he knows what players body's can be put through. To me it seems obvious that he is also a damned good man manager, helped by his knowledge of physiotherapy.

Who does!? I think everyone realises the repetitive interviews are deliberate, just reinforcing the team/one match at a time/positive mentality that has served us so well these past two seasons. Love how he spoke to the supporters directly in the interview today, absolute legend!

Ah - I see it might be misinterpreted. Supporters of other teams do, not us, which I guess is a compliment of sorts.

Could there ever be a bigger contrast than the one between BFS (b*tching about the fans, criticizing the team, leaning heavily on the long ball to a big striker, buying from above and expecting them to give their "all" in an individual-focused environment) and Adkins (praising the fans, using "five positives and one negative" with the team, sticking faithfully to his belief that football is all about passing - but going long when that's the best option, and buying from below but bringing them along together in a very team-focused environment)?

What a brilliant motivational thought - a video of the season to date, showing the team how good they looked when they passed and moved, passed and moved. And how things can go pear-shaped if they don't. That's a far better reminder and motivator than all the words under the sun.

And I can just hear him saying, in the dressing room before the Palace game, "I shouldn't need to say a word after we've all watched our supporters, in their thousands, coming here to support us!"

When the season is done, I hope someone in the London-based media will have the courage to focus on that contrast.

Cracking post.

From that interview I also noticed that his cliche guard dropped. We almost heard the real Nige when he talked about the fans.

"We want it more than anybody"

"We should enjoy it, this is what it is all about"

Forget cliches - you KNOW he means that

"We endeavour to finish top of the table. That's our endeavour." He wants it, the players want it, the fans want it. We're in prime position to get it too. I almost wish I could enter a three week long coma.

Interesting change in policy from the 'draw a blue line and move on' approach, suggests the players might have needed a lift after the Skates game.

Let's be honest, conceding that equaliser as we did got to all of us, even those like myself who tend to be less reactionary, so I have no doubt the players would've been a lot more gutted than perhaps they might normally be. A game only 48 hours later can be a good thing, but I think you're right, Nige felt the need to lift them and what better way that to actually remind them what they're capable of?

There have been, and will continue to be, some over-exaggerations about our Nige, but I genuinely think he has the potential to go all the way to the top of the game, and hopefully he'll take us with him as far as we can reasonably expect.

Showing that video is a great idea. He appears to really know how to bring the squad together and keep morale going.

Absolutely. Loved how he was p****d off with the players for being down after P*mpey as well - said something along the lines of "we've just moved back to the top of the league, the fans are singing it and I think the players need to be reminded of it". No room for ANY negativity at SFC anymore!!
