Saints v Reading build-up (the big one)

Bias pro-Reading article on BBC website essentially calling us a one man team. Nice.

Yeah just read it what a crock this bit takes the ****

Unlike Southampton, Reading do not have a marksman as prolific as Lambert but have instead shared the load around the team.

It is something Williams, who is regarded as one of the club's greatest ever defenders, believes has been crucial to their success.

"The highest goal scorer at Reading is on nine," he added.

"But that is the most pleasing thing about this Reading team, the goals have been shared around.

"Reading aren't a one-trick pony. There are numerous players who can pop up and score the winner. There are a lot of goals in the Reading squad and I think the style of play is their best attribute.

Yeah we're a one tricky pony cuase no other players in our team have scored:rolleyes:

Don't feel sorry for me! In hospital waiting for anaesthetist. Having op on knee this morning. Turns out surgeon is massive saints fan too so I have complete faith in him! Had two tickets for tonight but reg of London saints has taken them off my hands.

Was a very very very difficult decision to have the op today on biggest game of season? But at least ill see it on telly!

Had my knee op Tuesday. Be at StM with Mrs LS tonight. Dont know how knee will take to 2 X 45 MINS of standing. But win will be best pain killer. All the best for op DBP.

Buzzing for this. I'm off to get good and drunk to take the edge off. An afternoon drinking in town and a top of the table clash involving the Saints. Can't think of a better way to spend a friday off work.

For anyone nervous - remember the last 1st vs 2nd crunch game at SMS? A great performance and a thoroughly deserved win. Same again tonight.

Good, isn't it. We've got 3 players who have scored more than their top scorer, and one of our centre halfs is only 3 behind.

Jos Hooiveld hattrick tonight....

Bearsy too young for Friday night wins!

I'm only familiar with David Armstrong cos there was this old game vs. Forest re-run on tv the other day and I was laughing at this little old man we seemed to have playing in midfield.

It turned out to be David Armstrong...

davidarmstrong.jpg

Age 29!!!

My dad gave me a football signed by David Armstrong when I was about 6 I loved that ball couldn't believe a saints player had signed it. Still don't actually remember much about Armstrong other than he had no hair

I know funny how having a top scorer on 9 goals is seen as a good thing having one on 26 goals means you're a one man team...........

The BBC absolutely hates us. Always has. First noticed during their radio commentary of the 1979 League Cup final when I was 10.

I've seen how they update their latests scores and active table on match day. Its disgraceful. It can take 15mins to show when we score, 30 seconds when the opposition does.

That's right they're out to get you...

League goals this season:

Rickie Lambert 26

Adam Lallana 10

Guly Do Prado 10

David Connolly 6

Jos Hooiveld 5

Billy Sharp 5

We are such a one man team one-trick pony it's unbelievable!

So we've got 3 players scored more than their top hit-man?

It probably just takes you 15 mins to see through your permanent red mist and realise that we have scored.

Billy Sharp has a load for Doncaster as well. I think he is on about 17 for the season. I would say ignore at your peril.

I know he's probably joking, but the idea of 10 year old Alpine Saint seething with indignation at perceived BBC bias is amoosing!

We've scored 10 goals more than them (76 to 66) so it's not really surprising.

Pete, Hope everything goes well and just try and remember not to jump around each time we score!!

Could do with a few nurses and some anaesthetic to calm down my nerves - god knows how I'm going to last out till 2245 tonight for Kick Off!!

A nice Iced Margerita by The Pool sounds like a plan - after my blow out Full English that I'm about to cook!!

Cheers Eric and everybody else! Back home now and wondering why I got rid of tickets! However mrs dbp assures me I'll be in no fit state later! The surgeon did say that pbro might still be on though!

Still got this down as a must not lose but sneeky feeling we'll win it.

I don't know why everyone is ****ting themselves over Leigertwood? He's a decent player, yes, but he's no better than Cork/Hammond/Schneiderlin

Certainly better than Hammond but I think you're right in thinking that the loss of Karacan is probably more important.

However Mikele Leigertwood is a vastly experienced player and is Reading's engine.

Still Tabb,Karacan and probably Leigertwood out for them against Morgan for us sounds about even then.

The things one has to do to earn the brownie points....

Just back from an afternoon shopping for a dress for FMDP to wear to Daughter's wedding. That now takes us up to 7 of Dubai's finest Malls covered in 2 days... I'm knackered. IT BETTER BE WORTH IT - Nige - 'ave a word with them mate, out the blocks as fast as Eric when he spots a trolley and we'll be fine

So time for a quick power nap, then off to a warm-up bar before hitting Goodfellas and our JudderVision coverage.

New Lucky Shirt Debut tonight - All aboard the Little Red Bus

(Oh and no we haven't found a farking dress yet :()

Can't wait for tonight, massive game, packed ground under the flood lights on a Fri night which make nice change from usual Tues evening games when the atmosphere is dead. Should be electric.

Bring on the drunken fun (and very drunken when we win)

I have a feeling that set pieces, rather than open play, will decide this. In our favour.

Fox needs to get back to quality delivery because we can be almost un-defendable at corners when we bring Jos and Fonte up, and then Ricky's due on a free kick.

But we have to defend against Harte's efforts.

Agreed, but we did it at Wembley when he was at Carlisle so we can do it again.

I'm strangely optimistic. Or I would be if it didn't occur to me that this time last season, we would be Brighton and Reading would be us (Except much closer on points) Now I'm worried and confused because I would take Saints to beat Southampton today. Um, what?

Oh.......F**K.

I've just found out its on live here in Austria.

And there was me thinking I could hide at the top of a mountain for 2 hours.

I feel so, so, so sick.......

I was like that in one of our relegation-threatening end-of-season games up at Roker Park. Then we scored and I was a bag of nerves. All of a sudden I thought 'we're one-nil up away from home against one of our rivals. Relax, lie back and enjoy the situation' so I spent the rest of the evening just enjoying being in that position.

Chill out man, we're good enough to do this.
