Wolves striker Kevin Doyle will be offered a way out of his Molineux nightmare by Southampton in a £4million swoop at the end of the season.

Republic of Ireland international Doyle, 28, was left on the bench in Wolves' 2-1 defeat in their last match against Stoke on Saturday night.

Saints boss Nigel Adkins wants to add another forward to his squad, regardless of whether or not they are promoted to the Premier League.

And Doyle, who is also wanted by old club Reading, will want to stay in English football's top-flight with both Saints and Brian McDermott's Royals looking likely to get promoted.

Yes please. I know they're a team coming down but as Turkish said, O'Hara would be good, and I wouldn't mind Jarvis either.

It's Wolves defence that is the problem, they have some cracking attacking talent.

Yep, Jarvis as well, although I think bigger clubs will be sniffing around him.

Roger Johnson as well, if he can stay off the booze!

Maybe we should get promoted then sign an entire team of players who are not good enough to stay up.

Or maybe we could read between the lines and realise that the players mentioned aren't wholly to blame for Wolves relegation... and they're being grossly mismanaged. IMO.

Mainly 'oh god it's started already'...

How often in the recent past have our transfer dealings gotten into the public domain before they are concluded? (Almost) never. Combine that with the fact that we don't know what division we will be playing in next season, and it should be pretty obvious how much credence should be lent to *any* transfer rumours involving us at the moment.

Edit: colour me surprised, this *article* was in the Mirror...

For the record though I think it's a bad idea to sign demoted players. Yes you can say they are better than their club, but demotion does something mentally to 90% of players. It's very rare for someone to be demoted, transfer away and actually bounce back in a meaningful way.

I'd rather concentrate on the unresolved matter of this season for the moment. There'll be plenty of time for speculation on players in/out but since we don't even currently know what league we'll be playing in next season perhaps it's just a tad early.

No, I agree with KP. You don't want players who have been relegated if you can avoid it. We ended up with a load of them and guess what, we got relegated!

I would always rather buy players who are used to, or have created, success.

For me money, Lambert is a far better striker than Doyle. And if we have Rickie, Lee and Sharp, what do we need another bench warmer for??!!!

I think Scott Parker, Joe Cole and Peter Crouch, to name but three might disagree with you about that.

Ditto.Let's just see which division we are in before we start speculating.
