Perhaps people might take the awful death of a fellow Sotonian a bit more seriously...

Indeed.

Hopefully the post mortem will rveal something about how the individual met their end. Could the fire have been to cover up the body I wonder?

How do you know they were a Sotonian?

I don't, but isn't it the most likely option that they were a local?

Me and my mate were talking about it after I finished work today, he said that he doubts that the fire would have been to dispose of the body given all the dental profiling etc that is available now to identify people in situations like these. His guess was a homeless person who was sleeping in the bin had a fag on the go and fell asleep - we don't know whether it was a packaging or a waste bin. If it was a packaging bin, it could've gone up in seconds. Far fetched, but not unlikely. We'll just have to wait and see what emerges in the next few days.

I think it's probably way more likely someone was murdered and the body set alight to hide any forensics.

Could be an ex-pat Greek protesting how the situation is in Greece, could be anyone and under

any circumstances. Best to wait for the official verdict about how and why this poor soul met

their end is revealed before speculating.

This was my first thought.

3 people arrested according to BBC South

Using supermikey's powers of deduction, it's safe to assume that the three arrested consist of the dark-haired Lithuanian crackhead prossie that loiters near the PDSA, from whom the victim bummed the cigarette that smouldered and caused his cremation; a shop assistant from the Newsagent on the corner of Kingsbury Road, where the Sotonian tramp bought the matches that lit the said accidental suicide fag; And, The Easter Bunny.

All the people who have been arrested are local.

Two men, aged 28 and 25, and a 20-year-old woman, all from Southampton, were arrested in the city.

Was actually drinking along Bevois Valley on Saturday night too.

I take it that rules out SuperMikey's self-combusting tramp theory.

Not guilty, that was my mate's idea. Still not sure whether he was actually serious or not!

Poor bloke though, only 22 years old...that's no age. He went to college with one of my work colleagues in Totton.

I see they have now charged 4 people

Ryan Woodmansey, 31, of no fixed abode, Lee Nicholls, 28, of Southampton Street and Andrew Dwyer-Skeats, 25, and Donna Chalk, 20, both of Earls Road, Southampton, were charged with murder, false imprisonment and conspiracy to rob.

Woodmansey, Dwyer-Skeats and Nicholls face an additional count of causing grievous bodily harm.

For anyone who uses the Tesco garage in Lodge Rd. Woodmansey was the "Big Issue" seller for the past year or so. Rumour is they killed him on Thursday over a DSS cheque and were then on CCTV buying petrol on Fri/Sat, before trying to dispose of the body.

Criminal masterminds. Not.

I gave a homeless bloke 50p who was outside there about two weeks ago one evening (no offer of a big issue though)...hope it wasn't him.

would it make you an associated accomplice then? your money paying for the fuel that was used to burn him?
