mulletsaint Posted 9 April, 2012 Share Posted 9 April, 2012 The middle two tend to sit and let the the wingers and front two move around. That may explain a lot. Not quite from what I've seen. They might not be busting a gut to make late runs into the box like Lampard but neither are they sitting like Makelele. This is the main problem as far as I can see it, they're all neither one thing nor the other. Whether this is Adkin's decision or players not doing their jobs properly, who knows? People say we're susceptible to attacks down the flanks. As far as I can see this is due to the fact that with the diamond the fullbacks provide our attacking width. With none of the midfielders protecting the defence 100% of the time this is always going to happen. Personally I think we need a Makelele to sit and give the others the freedom to get forward. The9 Posted 9 April, 2012 Share Posted 9 April, 2012 (edited) suggesting we will sign sigurdson os laughable Actually I think he IS going to be one of our signings - fits the bill perfectly, we can outbid Swansea for wages and he's shown a tendency for a gamble having played for Reading, Hoffenheim and Swansea. He's only on loan, and if Hoffenheim haven't given them a loan to buy option then there's absolutely no reason we can't sign him. Yes other clubs will be interested, but so what ? We've obviously got the money to pursue our CL ambitions based on what's happened so far with Cortese. Then we can start spelling Sigurdsson correctly. LGTL Posted 9 April, 2012 Share Posted 9 April, 2012 We struggle with Davis and Adkins, I don't hold out much hope for Sigurdsson.
david in sweden Posted 10 April, 2012 Share Posted 10 April, 2012 In my eyes, what we are crying out for in central midfield is a hard central midfielder. I'm thinking a 2012 Jimmy Case. QUOTE] I've been thinking that ...every day since he left the club 20 years ago ....
Miltonroadboy Posted 10 April, 2012 Share Posted 10 April, 2012 Funnily enough i was chatting with a mate pre Palace game in The Clifton who knows Jimmy Case very well. JC admitted to him that if he played these days there would be a lot of the season he would have to miss!! Still one of our all time great players though.
