Gordon Mockles Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 If clubs are rightly fined for racist chants, Cantona endured the sh*t storm for kung-fu kicking a fan, then Ricardo Rocha should certainly be disciplined for kicking an out of play ball from the touch line straight into the faces of fans sat in The Northam. He smashed the ball into the crowd in anger - that's assault in my eyes & there's no room in the game for that. Disgusting behaviour. I love football but some of the attitudes from these overpaid, arrogant scum bags leaves a lot to be desired (fans & players alike). I'm no prude nor over zealous health & safety afficianado but that action imcensed me, many of the fans too so it seemed. That ball could have hit anyone, mother, child, someone in glasses (I've seen the damage from misplaced shots during shooting practice)...some families do bring babies although I think sitting near the front, in the first 8 or so rows is not the wisest action. Nevertheless, I saw Rocha got yellow carded to add to his forlorn disciplinary record but I think The League should take umbridge with the club for this matter to set out there is no room in the game for actions like this. Having said that, iif they fined the club, it would probably send them bankrupt!! Disappointed with the final score but I was outraged by Rocha's behaviour. Tarnishes the name of football. I doubt you'd see that in a rugby match. The worst you'd get in other sport is probably some numpty going for an afternoon dip on the Thames during a boat race!!
toofarnorth Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 I can remember reds being given for the same thing in the past. Maybe the fact that the ref didn't see it and it was the linesman on the half way line that brought it to his attention meant it was more lenient.

oldskoolsi Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 When skates equalized Rocha celebrated away from the rest of the skates and walked over to northam/kingsland cupping both hands on his ears. Linesman saw it as he called the ref over before restart but ref took no action. Since Sharp had been booked for exactly same thing, Rocha should have been off for second bookable offence.

Fan The Flames Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 He was probably angry at himself not aiming it at Saints fans. IMO there is nothing more hypocritical than an outraged fan. It's all part of the game, we give them abuse they give some back and we all go home afterwards.

SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 I think Rocha was very fortunate not to have already had a yellow card from earlier in the match. If you watch the Football League show on iplayer you will see that early in the match (5 mins 22 into the programme) he fouled Lallana by leading with his elbow. Moments later he then kicked out and fouled Sharp (5 mins 31). Finally from 7mins 33 onwards you can see the incidents mentioned - he kicks the ball into a fan and then hits Lallana in the face. IMO he should have been off and that could have made a significant difference to the match. Also, I think Allan should have been booked for his deliberate kick on Fonte (7 min 20). He tried to make it look like it was an accident but it was clearly deliberate.
