Appy Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 Must win game, hopefully all 5,800 stay behind the lads. Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Puncheon Hammond Cork Lallana Lambert Sharp Have a feeling we may see Falque too.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 we have scored 4 in the last 3 games and one blokes scored all of them . I know .... Lets drop him , because he doesnt play "the saints way ". I do wonder about some people . Simple fact is sharp scores goals at this level, has scored our last 4 goals and must start .
Smirking_Saint Posted 8 April, 2012 Posted 8 April, 2012 I thought you would understand, obv not, lets play Sharp and watch us stutter, hopefully he nicks a goal
saintscottofthenortham Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Anyone staying around Clapham Junction for a few jars? We are going to look at grabby a full English around there then heading to a watering hole before heading down to Thornton Heath but don't know any pubs round there...?
Saint Paul C Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 ----------- Davis --------------- Richardson -Fonte - Hooiveld - Fox --- Chaplow - Hammond - Cork --- Guly ---------------------- Lallana ------------- SRL ---------------
saintscottofthenortham Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 ----------- Davis --------------- Richardson -Fonte - Hooiveld - Fox --- Chaplow - Hammond - Cork --- Guly ---------------------- Lallana ------------- SRL --------------- You would CHOOSE to play Guly after Saturday?
bender Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Must win game, hopefully all 5,800 stay behind the lads. Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Puncheon Hammond Cork Lallana Lambert Sharp Have a feeling we may see Falque too. I reckon we'll have more than 5,800. My mate bought a home e-ticket from their website. Palace are mainly not confident but one or two can see them getting something. http://www.holmesdale.net/page.php?id=106&tid=120785&page=3
SW11_Saint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Anyone staying around Clapham Junction for a few jars? We are going to look at grabby a full English around there then heading to a watering hole before heading down to Thornton Heath but don't know any pubs round there...? Quite a few pubs that do food around there - the 'Slag & Legless' (slug & lettuce) and The Falcon are just out of the Station main entrance and left. If you want a bit more up market head to Northcote Rd (about 10 min walk) - out of main exit, turn left, past those two pubs, then cross the road and walk down St Johns Rd (big Debenhams on corner) past McDonalds, M&S etc. Northcote Rd will be right in front of you. The Northcote, All Bar One, The Bank all do food. Also The Goat (turn left at end of St. Johns Rd onto Battersea Rise). http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=northcote+road+london&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari#q=northcote+road+london+pubs&hl=en&client=safari&tbo=u&source=univ&tbm=plcs&ei=-YSCT7-ABcrd8AOFof2TBg&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=more-results&resnum=4&ved=0CDMQtQMwAw&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&fp=1843d8e761f23933&biw=1024&bih=672
Toadhall Saint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Got to be 2 nil to Saints - nervous start but SRL will get the opener to settle us down.
Saint Garrett Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Think we're going to go to Thornton Heath. Are there any specific pubs to go to or just Southampton fans going to be filling them all ?!
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Must win game, hopefully all 5,800 stay behind the lads. Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Fox Puncheon Hammond Cork Lallana Lambert Sharp Have a feeling we may see Falque too. That will be great, but unlikely if Nigel picks the "fans" scapegoat
John B Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 A point today would be OK but I expect we will get all three
Shroppie Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Still think we may see more wholesale changes. NA did it at the end of last season when there were two games in quick succession - it's a squad game. May see any or all of Butterfield, Harding, Chaplow, Puncheon, Barnard and possibly even Martin for Fonte, who looks tired, and a youngster or two on the bench. Big risk maybe, but maybe the challenge to step up and do it for the squad could work.
dubai_phil Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Big news for today? I am NOT COOKING FARKING CHICKEN. Thank FOOK for the point against the skates, if we'd lost that I would have been doomed for all eternity. Also, bit weird having a game on a working day (down here) makes for a very strange build up. ............Davis.............. Butterfield/Richardson ... Jose...Jos.... Fox SDR/Guly.....DH...JC.......AL ......Sharp.....Lambert/Guly Martin, Chappers, Puncheon/SDR, LB, Harding (JWP or Falque only if Nige thinks JP has lost the plot again) With MS out Fox is our back up keeper. IF Fox is rested then Bart has to be on the bench. IF Lambert is 100% for both this AND Reading then Guly at RM with Richardson IF not then Guly up front and Butters behind SDR - just don't think SDR & Richardson are a good mix, but FAR prefer Richardson at FB

supersonic Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 It' ll be tough today, although they have nothing to play for, they will still put up a fight. I'd go with: ---------------KD--------------- FR----JF------------JH-------DF SDR------DH--------JC-------AL ---------BS--------RL---------- Palace play wide football, with attacking fullbacks and wingers, the Diamond just wouldn't work today, it would leave our fullbacks too exposed. Butterfield could play instead of Richardson and De Ridder was awful v Palace earlier this season. My prediction: 1-1
dronskisaint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Interesting to note that in our first 5 or 6 games, when we started like an express train, we played Hammond and Cork in the middle; Morgan was not involved. My point being, much as he (Morgan) is a loss, we can clearly still do well without him Absolutely - we have quality in our squad that our opponents dream about. It's more about holding our nerve - we have the quality.
Legod Third Coming Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 My biggest fear about today is not having a waterproof coat.
Chez Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 my worries are over, Paul McShane is likely to return to the Palace side.
obelisk Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Palace play wide football, with attacking fullbacks and wingersThat news doesn't exactly fill me with optimism. Let's hope they get bogged down in the wet pitch.
shurlock Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 (edited) my worries are over, Paul McShane is likely to return to the Palace side. Actually palace fans rate him. Williams and Wright missing tho. Edited 9 April, 2012 by shurlock
Crab Lungs Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 my worries are over, Paul McShane is likely to return to the Palace side.
Legod Third Coming Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 While that is very funny, you just know you're inviting him to score a hatrick right?
miserableoldgit Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 my worries are over, Paul McShane is likely to return to the Palace side. Really? Think we might be in with a chance then.
.comsaint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Can I just add : 5,800 Saints fans at Palace today? That's an impressive turnout. Kudos to those going - what with money being as tight as it is these days for many. I hope - come the full time whistle - they are absolutely delighted & ecstatic & the journey was worthwhile. COYS
FarehamRed Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 That news doesn't exactly fill me with optimism. Let's hope they get bogged down in the wet pitch. Funnily enough, I was thinking that if I were Palace, I'd create a really heavy pitch, knowing that Saints had played on Friday and would probably tire in the last 10 mins.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Come on Saints! Lose and WH win = nightmare Win and WH lose = celebrate
Glasgow_Saint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Funnily enough, I was thinking that if I were Palace, I'd create a really heavy pitch, knowing that Saints had played on Friday and would probably tire in the last 10 mins. Palace also played (after us)
shurlock Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Funnily enough, I was thinking that if I were Palace, I'd create a really heavy pitch, knowing that Saints had played on Friday and would probably tire in the last 10 mins. Palace have had less time to recover than us for this game.
obelisk Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Funnily enough, I was thinking that if I were Palace, I'd create a really heavy pitch, knowing that Saints had played on Friday and would probably tire in the last 10 mins. Both Palace and Saints played Saturday so I'm not sure that would be much of an advantage. If there's one thing about Saints this season that has impressed me it's the improved fitness levels. It's the lack of pace that can do for us though.
Fan The Flames Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 I'm excited about today, we will get our run in back on track.
.comsaint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Any chance of a stream for the game? There are no streams for this game alas. However, I have streams for the West Ham v Birmingham game - so I'm going to watch that game with the sound turned down whilst listening to Saints on Solent.

However, I have streams for the West Ham v Birmingham game - so I'm going to watch that game with the sound turned down whilst listening to Saints on Solent. The WHU V Brum is a late kick off mate, on Sky at 5pm I think.
Surrey Saint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Am v. nervous about this one. I know it's not technically true but this is surely a 'must win' game. At least in terms of retaining/regaining team confidence and fans optimism that we WILL be promoted this year. Can't help feeling Palace are due a win after a run of poor form, but then so are we after some costly mistakes in two previous games. Will be calmer at 3pm. COYS
.comsaint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 The WHU V Brum is a late kick off mate, on Sky at 5pm I think. So it is. My mistake. Cheers.
redder freak Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Have a hunch Lambert may be rested to let him recover for the Reading game. Guly up front with Sharp? He scored a brace against Palace on boxing day.
Thedelldays Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 july did fuk all but score 2 goals against palace at home de ridder played well i can see the same happening today...and for 24 hours, I will rate guly
miserableoldgit Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Any chance of a stream for the game? Not sure about a stream. I just think that the pitch will be very wet.
musesaint Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Not happy about heavy rain on a shi**te pitch but IMHO a MUST win game
Thedelldays Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 play like we did against pompey and will will win comfortably
ericofarabia Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Pre match build up / chill out A couple of homemade Margeritas and Tex Mex platter by the pool. Selection of Real Ales for the match - best avoid London Pride today though!!. COYS - Fonte to break his duck this season with the old club chestnut. COYS
dune Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 I know it's not technically true but this is surely a 'must win' game. It's not a must win game then.
Saint Charlie Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Biggest game of the season so far...win puts us in a great position defeat would really rock us.....on the way now. COYR!
supersonic Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Why is everyone getting so worked up about heavy rain on the pitch? All we seem to do recently is hoof the ball long so it won't make a difference
Window Cleaner Posted 9 April, 2012 Posted 9 April, 2012 Been watching the video of the Boxing Day game, my did we look good that day, looked like we had Cork and Morgan the other way round, then I watched the extended highlights of the Pompey match, couldn't believe it was the same side with the same manager.
