jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 I think adkins will freshen it up a bit. Can even see lambert being rested or on bench. Maybe play chaplow and lallana behind sharp with lallana the playmaker and chaplow making runs. Then a midfield 3 of hammond cork and puncheon. I think martin will come in for fonte as well and dare I say it harding for fox. We have a few injuries at the moment but our squad still better than readings squad so adkins will be mindful that reading play tues and therefore have less recovery time plus will likely have less options to freshen the team for their game at brighton. Nexstar Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 With Morgan now out it seems, I would like to see Chaplow in his actual position as as a CM. Based on his great play on the edge of the box yesterday I'd stick Lallana CAM, with Chaplow CDM, Puncheon and SDR on the wings. It's going to be a difficult surface having chucked it down all day so we need to get at them early.
.comsaint Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 Like who? Our bench yesterday showed how shallow our squad is - we're unlikely to change the defense since our squad players are relatively weak; with Morgan's injury we've lost whatever cover we had in CM; and attacking wise, we only really have a mix of SDR, Punch, Chaplow and Barny -and three of those players are eyeing the same spot. Like Puncheon, Barnard, Chaplow, De Ridder, one or two of the youngsters/reserves all starting. I'd personally like to see young Sam Hoskins on the bench. Wade Garrett Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 We have generally been very average playing the diamond. We should stick with a 4-4-2. It wouldnt be a bad move to play Chaplow and Puncheon in at the expense of Guly and Hammond. I think, however, that De Ridder might play right and Guly up top if Lambert is rested. InvictaSaint Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 Interesting to note that in our first 5 or 6 games, when we started like an express train, we played Hammond and Cork in the middle; Morgan was not involved. My point being, much as he (Morgan) is a loss, we can clearly still do well without him

DrunkenSaint Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 Next game coming up quickly, an Easter Monday trip to Palace. The Eagles have nothing to play for and appeared to put up absolutely no resistance to Brum today, going 3-0 very quickly and eventually losing 3-1. Their form overall has been poor too. 3 defeats in their last 4 and 1 win in their last 8. Saints last away game: 3-0 defeat (Blackpool) Palace last home game: 3-0 defeat (Forest) As for the teams, Morgan will definitely miss the game. I'd personally go with: Davis Frazer - Fonte - Jos - Fox Puncheon - Hammond - Cork - Lallana Lambert - Sharp Subs: Martin, Harding, De Ridder, Barnard, Flakey That team or... shurlock Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 (edited) I would love to try: Davis Frazer Fonte Jos Fox Puncheon Hammond Cork Lallana SDR Lambert Giving SDR, Punch and Lallana licence to interchange. Palace's CBs are slow as f**k. However, expect it to be the same team that faced the skates after Morgan went off. If Lambert is out, Guly goes up top and maybe Puncheon/SDR right. northam soul Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 I would like to see Chaplow centre midfield as he has the energy and ability to get forward and cause problems in the final third which our current lot do not seem to do very often. It would add a different dimension if he is on his game which he is due.

I think Adkins will start him but he was woeful yesterday and I usually stick up for him. Chaplow? Been terrible since he came back from injury at each time he's played at RM since he has been removed at half time. Puncheon? Personally think he is a good option and would be tempted by him, provides no width but decent on the ball. Again not exactly set the world alight since he came back Falque? Only seen 45 minutes of him. We miss Chamberlain

SW11_Saint Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 Odd that most seem to be omitting Guly from the squad all together. Doubt that will happen. Other than Deano for Morgan I'd expect the same starting 11 (poss with Chaplow in for Guly on right, and Guly dropping to bench). Guly wasn't great v the Skates, but not as bad as some make out, and certainly no worse than De Ridder who did little other than waste a very good opportunity. That said he hardly got much service as we tended to play up through the middle after bringing him on for some odd reason. Looking forward to a win tomorrow. COYS! But Sharp scored so he gets MOM and SDR runs around alot so he should play yeah ? Thought so. Sharp should play because he can score in games when apparently nobody else could. Describing SDR as "running around a lot" does him a disservice IMO. He has pace and is very direct, but we don't really play to his strenghts. His problem is made a lot worse by the fact that a) he only seems to get 30 mins to prove himself. Half what Guly gets and a third of the time most other players get. b) He is often chucked into games where we aren't playing well and need someone to turn the game around. In the games where we play well and are already 2-0, he often gets left on the bench.

Conversely, I would be astounded if Puncheon doesn't get the nod at wide right. Assuming Rickie is fit and ready to go I'd expect the following - ------------------Davis Richardson - Fonte - Hooiveld - Fox Puncheon - Cork - Hammond - Lallana ---------Lambert - Sharp Bench: Bart, Martin, Chaplow, Guly, Barnard If Rickie doesn't make it I'd have Barnard in from the start, Sharp and Guly look totally incompatable. bpsaint Posted 8 April, 2012 Share Posted 8 April, 2012 Normally I'm buzzing the evening before away games but I'm still hurting from yesterday. Ecstasy to agony in such a short space of time is a bitter pill to swallow, especially against those ****s. Reckon it'll go one of two ways after yesterday, either we'll be suffering the hangover of the late equaliser, or as I'm hoping, they'll be smarting and desperate to put things right. Going to miss MS for sure, and if Guly gets dropped or pushed up front I can't think who will be best choice for RM. nobody has really stepped up to the plate when called upon, if only Chappers could regain his early season form. Falque could always be our ace in the hole.

I tend to agree, performances were better with Guly/Lambert up front. It's a tough one because Sharp has goals in him and hasn't been playing badly but changing our style to accommodate him at this stage might have a negative effect. Reminds me of when Newcastle brought in Asprilla and f*cked up their title bid. Great player, scored goals but the team didn't function the same.
