Worst derby support ever

Sh it Sh it and sh it again. Ground was like a morgue for big periods of the game. Paddy Ashclown must have thought it was fecking christmas in the second half. Fecking pathetic for a derby, some of our so called supporters need to have a word with themselves.

I agree. Easy to support the team when they're playing well and scoring freely, but when it really counts and the team needs it, too many went silent today.

Sums it up nicely. There were periods where you couldn't tell a game was on, it was so incredibly quiet. For all the 'lets chant this, let's chant that' there was sod all on display from my point of view.

What got me was the lack of OWTS being sung. The 5-10mins before the game kicked off it was really good 5mins into the game and it tailed off ........I was expecting more but I think the crowd at SMS has been below par for a while we seem nervous and under pressure to get results which seems to reduce the atmosphere to groans and sighs if were not winning after 10 miniutes.

Don't know whats got into people but it was shocking. Last couple of games it has been a proper cauldron of hate, their players were clearly affected and ours were lifted, today was more like a cauldron of tomato soup. Embarrasing.

So their players were affected so badly at the last one at St Mary's that they only managed to win 4-1. Really? You are talking complete sh 1 te TBH.

Ok let's see how loud we are away to palace! Away fans always sound louder! I was in itchen and it sounded loud! Would be nice if the whole ground sang together....

Would just like to point out that since sound only travels at 340m/s and SMS is an oval, you get lag even if every is grade 8 at music. HTH

Well it was loud where I was sat for most of the game, the Itchen/Northam corner gave a good account of themselves, the Northam itself was quiet though. I thought the rest of the ground was rocking myself, although we went quiet for 10 minutes before the end when it looked like we were going to lose, its called nerves, and some could see our promotion chances ebbing away because we were too interested in some no-marks from down the road.

I said the same in the post match thread. Just not hostile enough, the Skate players were allowed to get far too comfortable.

not too sure what more could have been done..apart from drop the player with your fists..

the crowd were all over them when they took a corner etc

I'm with Tom on this one. We should restrict ticket sales to fans who have achieved grade 8 or higher at music, and give them all scores/librettos. That would get the singing sorted once and for all ;)

Where do you sit? I have to say it was poor in the northam after the equalized the 1st time.

I sit in the Chapel. Last time we played them, ok yes they dicked us, but James looked visibly shaken by the sheer hatred he was getting, none of their players wanted to come and take a throw or a corner, the ground was rocking for the whole 90 mins, and it was the same at the previous derbys. Today was totally different, Ashdown had a lovely day out, when they equalised instead of getting the noise levels back up everyone up our end just sat there. Rubbish

How about you sing then you whiney pr!ck? Bet you were sat saying jack sh!t too.

No i didn't and if you ever feel like coming and telling me that to my face you know where I sit.

I have to say I don't remember the last derby being like that. James certainly didn't look affected - he had the game of his life.

agreed it is easy to blame the support

sit in block 20 with a lot of other old boys and the support home and away is as good as it has ever been

to many see things through rose coloured specs

the dell was unique in its later years but you need to remember there was only 1500 away fans for league games.

Nothing wrong with our support. Stop whining and join the rest of us in getting behind the lads at Palace on Monday.

It doesn't help when half the crowd leave on 35 mins and don't get back up until 10 mins into the 2nd half. Mental.

Apart from that it was alright, I was in the Chapel today and it was without doubt the best atmosphere I've experienced down that end of the ground.

The Chapel was louder and much more hostile than the cup game IMHO but the Northam seemed quieter and you can't hear the Itchen from block 16.

That said, it did appear that everyone was signing different songs at the same time and the acoustics do have an impact. For sure The Chapel don't understand the pace OWTS should be sung.

Our support was terrible once Pompey scored the equaliser but with the way our players were playing we all though there we go again - and do you know what we were right!

One big point - what were you all doing in the bloody pub until kick-off!?! The skates were in the ground 30 mins before kick-off making their players feel at home.

If we'd had a packed ground for the warm up maybe we could have unsettled the Pompey players - put the fear of St Mary's in them and won the bloody thing before a ball was even kicked!!!

Oh dear.

Try an hour, because they weren't allowed anywhere else.

Our support was full of tension, which is not surprising given what we are playing for. They had absolutely nothing to loose today. They are f*****d anyway.

I think that's a very good point. More than anything I was bloody tense. Definitely one that had my pulse racing for most of, if not the whole, 90 minutes.

thought our crowd was decent. Personally I've lost my voice. Very very loud in places.

Talking of making them welcome, anyone else notice the groundsman all getting in the way of the skates doing shooting practice in the main goal just prior to going back into the changing rooms. Shame one of those forks didn't find its way into Ashdown's foot.

Nearly tore my throat out in the first half but a combination of coming down from my energy buzz and a lot of f*cking tension made me personally a lot quieter in the second half, and i'm sure it's the same for most others.

I'm usually a big advocate for making as much noise as you can, but there was a lot at stake today for both teams so a bit of tension and quiet is understandable.

More like the beer wears off/the hangover starts kicking in in the 2nd half.
