Bad Wolf Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Seeing some of the posts on the reactions thread. Get over it. We're top and we're unbeaten against Pompey due to two BRILLIANT goals from them. Would you have taken this situation at the start of the season?? I'm sure most would have done. Let's see promotion out and this will be just another point gained on our path to the Premiership. I believe. In Nigel we trust.
Cascadia Saint Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Agree. There is a bigger picture and it is PROMOTION. That has to be the only thing that matters at this point.
Saint Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 I'm actually only annoyed because we're not clear at the top. Shame not to get three points. Not bothered about pompey. They're relegation fodder and all their best players will be off when the drop gets them. A draw against us means so much to them. For gods sake, they were still singing "4-1 in your own backyard." That was two years ago and they were two leagues above us. They have such a chip on their shoulder and that's the way it always will be. **** 'em. They can live in their own bubble if they want. It's not just us that's sick of them anymore, it's most of the football world.

S-Clarke Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Who gives a SH*T about Pompey ? We're on a downward spiral and the team in third place is tw*tting teams 4-0 away from home. You've based that snap reaction on a weekend of results. WHU lost their game before that 4-2 and looked useless. We have only lost 1 in the last 14 games. We are not in a downward spiral what so ever, it's a Derby game and you cannot read a hell of alot into it. Very difficult games to predict or come to conclusions from. Win against Palace and Reading, which we're capable of and we're almost there. I'm frustated as anyone today, but let's not start saying stupid things like ''the season is over'' ''we're on a downward spiral''.

Brizzie Saints Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 We drew, get over it. Were still top, 5 games to go and destiny in our own hands. We wernt ****, just a little unlucky, those games are always tough. If we create as many chances as that in our remaining fixtures we'll be OK. Its not over, its not the end of the world, its football........Sh1t happens, move on
redkeith Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Guttting to let Norris have that late shot. However, we are currently still top, and 11 pints from 5 games should see us up. We have already booked a play off spot. Although injuries are mounting, and although form/on TV/Friday 13th all points to a slip up against Reading, Reading have two other difficult away games, and West Ham have two tricky home games coming up. Any draws by West Ham take 2 points off the 11 point target. Fingers crossed for Monday.

Man up you ****ing bed wetter. Compare our form with west hams rather than pick 1 result against a poor Barnsley side, or reading who made heavy weather of beating a depleted and down to 10 men Leeds side. Gutted we didn't win today but its another point nearer to promotion.

buctootim Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 I am absolutely devastated, regardless of league position or any bigger picture. Thats a joke right? Devastated is when your family is wiped out in a car crash or you lose you job, marriage and kids in the same day. Claiming to be devastated by drawing 2-2 in a local derby football match just makes you a drama queen.
stcappy Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 There was always going to be a round of games in the run in that went against us. Providing this was it, there is no problem. Plus, we are still top. The season was always 46 games long, it was before today, it is after it too. There will be more twists and turns to come. Just got to get behind the team to the end now. Micky Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Nothing to get over thanks. It has nothing to do with drawing to pompey. Why am I ****ed off, simple - last week we had clear points between us, second and third. This week those points have evaporated - not only that, but they have evaporated on the back of 2 pretty poor performances. Couldn't give two hoots about pompey - dont even care if they stay up. But will be majorly ****ed of if we blow the chance of our biggest achievement since, what, 76?

Cabrone Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Totally agree with the OP. Today we played a derby against a team that were playing for pride and were always going to give it their all. Derbies are notorious for unexpected results and this one was no exception. Wham's next game is against Brum at home. Brum have picked up form recently and Wham haven't won at home for over 2 months. They really have a mental block at the Boleyn and when you are under pressure like they are one of the last teams you would want to be playing is Brum. We on the other hand will be playing against a Palace team that has nothing to play for. We should be well capable of a win PROVIDED we get our heads right. If we could win and Wham lose then we would only need 6 (and quite possibly 5) points from Reading (h), Posh (a), Boro (a), Cov (h) - totally do-able. Calm down everyone, we are still very much in the driving seat.
derry Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Who gives a SH*T about Pompey ? We're on a downward spiral and the team in third place is tw*tting teams 4-0 away from home. A bit of perspective called for here, and lost their last home game 4-2 having drawn 5 on the trot at home. Next two games Birmingham and Brighton at home won't be walkovers. Brighton won't be easy for Reading on monday. Long way to go still.

badgerx16 Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 (edited) We're down to a single round of results making the difference. We are 4 points and 9 goals better off than Wet Sham, so 'one round' of matches won't change things. And as for the 'downward spiral', before Blackpool we had 8 wins and 2 draws from 10 games. Legod Third Coming Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 We were unlucky today. I do not know how their keeper saved the header. I need to see it again in ultra slow motion. And if David Norris had that chance 300 times, 287 of them would go into row Z. Three points against Palace and all the pressure moves to West Ham and Reading. John Boy Saint Posted 7 April, 2012 Share Posted 7 April, 2012 Today was a stand alone game almost a cup game, the occasion of the Derby negated the league results. There was a couple of minutes in the second half where there was a massive hole in midfield but it was almost like the occasion had exhausted both teams and they both took the foot off the gas. In the grand scheme of things this was a game we could have done with getting out of the way a month or two ago, but there we go we played it we got what feels a disappointing point. Still plenty of football left in what has to be the most competitive second tier of Football anywhere in the world. If you had enough time to pull your Anorak on, it would be interesting to see who of those with a length of rope and rickety stool looking for a stout branch, or searching for the rusty razor blades on here tonight, posted wholeheartedly in the raft of Chickens counted threads last week. It's Saturday night, we have not lost, we are top of the league. Pour a drink and relax before getting ready for Palace on Monday.
