bridge too far Posted 10 June, 2012 Share Posted 10 June, 2012 I didn't really want to stop but I was getting increasingly concerned that my grandchildren might be influenced by my habit. I didn't ever smoke in a confined space with them around but I did nip out into the garden for a quick one when looking after them. I think the turning point was when my 3 year old grandson said 'Are you going out for a cigarette, Nana?'. And, if I'm honest, I really can't afford it - or put another way, I'd rather spend what I'm saving on the grandchildren. So I'm feeling a bit holy ATM and hoping I don't revert. cryoman1965 Posted 11 June, 2012 Share Posted 11 June, 2012 Been a professional smoker for 30 yrs.Stopped 3 weeks ago using niccorritte sticks. Started on 9 capsules the first day and have worked my way down to non yesterday. The advantage I have found with this method is you can boost the level of nicotine at high stress points through the early days of stopping. Some of the advantages so far are I don't snore anymore, I no longer have a throat constantly full of crap and I don't feel breathless doing slight excercise. And best off all you don't STINK of a dirty smoker:blush:
angelman Posted 11 June, 2012 Share Posted 11 June, 2012 I still snore (apparently)! Gave up the fags a few months ago (not for the first time) but had a mate come and stay for the week end and he is a smoker - had a few and was tempted to carry on! One of the biggest benefits to me is that everything tastes that much better. As for methodology giving up, just gave up and went cold turkey.
