John Boy Saint Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 I have noticed in recent weeks that Danny Fox has been firing in some evil corners at pace and speed right into the 18/6 yard box that has caused havoc including setting Billy up for a great header v Donny. Whereas from the other side the corners from Lallana seem a bit floaty and soft and appear easy for the Goalie. I would have thought as Frazer has a bit of a mean right foot he would have been given a crack at smashing a few into the box from corners, thus giving the oppo's defenders a bit more to worry about with a lurking Lallana in and around the box, along with all the other firepower at our disposal: including Jos Just a thought not a criticism. SuperMikey Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 I don't know how good his delivery is from that kind of situation, he can put in a decent cross at pace but i'm not sure what he'd be like from dead-ball situations. Plus he does well to track back and stop counter-attacks if a corner gets cleared quickly. We haven't got too much pace at the back to cope with that situation. Saint Charlie Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 Would be better to see Fox take them from both sides! His delivery is superb.
supersonic Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 All depends on if he is fit
eurosaint Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 I'd be more than happy to see Frazer (or anybody for that matter!) swing across a corner like Jason Dodd's v the Skates a few years ago !! Be lovely for history to repeat itself
Golden Balls Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 Ive been saying this for a while. I can't imagine they haven't tried it in training. Guessing his dead ball delivery isn't that good
supersonic Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 I've noticed that when he takes free kicks around the half way line that get delivered into, or around, the opposing penalty area, he seems to float the crosses, rather that put his foot through it. I know taking a corner and a free kick on the halfway line are different, but NA could see this as the reason why he's not taking them. Perhaps we'd be better having Fox take corners from both sides? and maybe it's because Richardson is quite fast and NA prefers him to stay back when we have a corner, in case the opposition break? Richardson cuts through dead balls with his laces (he even does it for slow moving balls, whilst he sidefoots faster moving balls which whip in), so his corners would float much worse than Lallana's. Also, we have enough problems with fullbacks getting caught upfield as it is.
laughba Posted 6 April, 2012 Share Posted 6 April, 2012 I would like to see Richardson take corners tbh. Lalana IMHO hardly ever beat the first man
