The9 Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 If you had the choice, and we make the Prem, which would you prefer as our "target man" for Saints next season ? Not that there's much chance of Carroll pitching up at St Mary's in a Saints shirt, I just want to know what people think.
This Charming Man Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Think this thread was done the other month but I'd choose Lambert all day long. Carroll has proven himself to be utterly useless in the Premiership after doing well for half a season in the NPC. Plus Lambert's touch and hold up play is far superior than Carroll's.
Cricketphilly Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert. Care to elaborate ? Will do; Carroll is younger, potentoinally a better player, has played for England, was very good at Newcastle. Liverpool don't play to his strengths at all.
cellone Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert. Can't stand that dirty, woman beating, flouncy primadona.
The9 Posted 4 April, 2012 Author Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert. Can't stand that dirty, woman beating, flouncy primadona. Not even if he was keeping us in the Prem ?
Avenue Saint Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lamborghini over vauxhall Carroll all day long!
Saint_lambden Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert. In-form and a proven goalscorer in the prime of his career. What does Carroll offer? He's unfit, a boozer, dreadful attitude and can't hit a barn door. The £35m fee means nothing.
Lighthouse Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert Caroll has a sh*t pony tail. Usless, violent, homeless, Ibrahimovic wannabe.
Legod Third Coming Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Er, would I rather sleep with Heidi Klum or Bella Emberg would be a tougher question than this one friend.
cellone Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Not even if he was keeping us in the Prem ? Only if I can become one of those fan's that boo's thier own player's every time they make the slightest error, on second thoughts No.

Liverpool don't play to his strengths at all. So has Michael Ricketts... They certainly do. They hoof the ball up to him and play with two wingers looking to get crosses into the box for him. It's just a shame he can't hold the ball up to save his life and he's a terrible finisher.
ottery st mary Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 (edited) Rikeeee Lambert all the way..... Liverpool offered us 25 million and Andy Carroll for our Rikeeeeee.... Thank goodness we said NO......but throw in Gerrard and we will talk... Edited 4 April, 2012 by ottery st mary
CanadaSaint Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Caroll has a sh*t pony tail. Yes, and - as the saying goes - we all know what you find under a pony's tail.
SaintAndy14 Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert would be insulted if he were to see this thread! No debate here folks, Lambert outclasses him in every department.
JustMike Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert Caroll has a sh*t pony tail. Usless, violent, homeless, Ibrahimovic wannabe. who is also ****!
saint.tom.clancy Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Is this a serious question? I'm pretty sure even most Liverpool fans would choose Lambert.
suewhistle Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 It's strange, but although we've seen through the example of Lambert himself that players can improve I don't get the impression from Carroll that he can. I may well be proved wrong, but at the moment it's Lambert all the way. I don't see a lot of UK football except for the occasional short period watching a stream (and as much Saints as possible, of course), but I find Carroll embarassing to watch. I get embarassed with my own galumphing forward play at times but I'm 3rd division regional women's amateur football...

Until they get a modern manager and not the dinosaur that they actually have no one can say who can improve and who can't.Forget not Anders Svensson and Chris Baird.
IronCitySaint Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert any day. Carroll may well be the biggest waste of money in football history whereas Lambert is probably one of the best value for money players currently in the game.
Mowgli Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert. Worth more than £35m then..... Lambert plays for the shirt. He enjoys himself and contributes as a team player. Works hard. Tracks back. Question. Why did the Carroll Cross the Road? ('cos he's more use to the other side....) Question. Why does Kenny refer to Carrol as his wonderkid ('Cos he wonders why he paid £35m for him)
Dimond Geezer Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert for me. Yet to prove himself in the prem, but his confidence must be sky high, Carroll hasn't recreated his Newcastle form. As far as I can tell Lambert, keeps his head down and doesn't come across a Billy Big******.
Window Cleaner Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Taking Lambert out the equation, it is utterly ridiculous that Carroll rose so quickly after an okay championship season and 3 months or good form in the top flight. It's nothing. He was up front alone for a team that won the league easily, yet didn't outscore many strikers to play in that league recently. Grant Holt has performed far better in the top flight over a longer period of time than Carroll did for Newcastle, yet no-one would suggest he was worth a 35m move. All very well paying for potential, but you want to make sure they have that potential, and indeed plenty of ability now. Take AOC, big price for big potential, but there was clearly a hell of a lot of ability there. I'm just not sure how closely Dalgleish watched Carroll because it was so odd they'd pay even 7 or 8m, let alone 35. Carroll was worth 35 million because Torres was worth 50 million, if Torres had gone for 10 million, Carroll would have been worth 7 or 8. In football you've got to spend nigh on everything you get for 2 reasons. If you don't the fans will moan if that isn't an obstacle then HMRC will have any excedent off you. Plus there's VAT on footballer transfers you know and you have to even that out as well.
wild-saint Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Lambert Caroll has a sh*t pony tail. Usless, violent, homeless, Ibrahimovic wannabe. And under every pony tail? yes you guessed it, there's an arrsehole
Cestrian Saint Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 Liverpool have ruined Carroll. He's a big physical player and they've made him lose a load of weight and tried to turn him into something that he isn't instead of playing to his advantages. They're doing the same thing to Henderson. It's interesting that Henderson's had 3 MOTM award when he's played in the middle but Kenny insists on playing him on the right and the lad is lost out there. Another interesting stat is that Liverpool have lost 10 of the 11 games that Gerrard has played in this season!
Saint_DB Posted 4 April, 2012 Posted 4 April, 2012 I was having this chat with an impartial mate the other day. I always thought Carroll was a fairly one-dimensional player that only scores headers after a ball's been lumped in the box, which is one of the reasons why he has struggled at Liverpool because they're not pinging it in from the wings every attack. Don't get me wrong, Lambert does it as well but he has more facets to his game, and he suits our style of play much better. He is much better on the ball, his link up play is sublime at times and we all know what he can do from the penalty spot. Carroll is young, and yes we have only seen him in League One and the Championship and not the Prem but I'm not sure he will develop into the kind of player Rickie is now. If Rickie was three years younger, far more Prem clubs would be sniffing around him. Rickie all day long.
rshephard3 Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Apparently, the gossip from Villa Park is that Emile Heskey has started telling Andy Carrol jokes.
This Charming Man Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Apparently, the gossip from Villa Park is that Emile Heskey has started telling Andy Carrol jokes. He must be delighted that someone has stolen the 'limelight' from him.
Saints Warrior Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Lambert any day, AC is crap full stop, he cant even dive well enough to get a pen
kpturner Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Apparently, the gossip from Villa Park is that Emile Heskey has started telling Andy Carrol jokes. What jokes is he telling him? Is he doing it by text, phone call or email?
kpturner Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Slightly laughable thread.....like any of us would complain if Andy Carroll was turning out for us instead of Lambert (not for £35m mind )
wightman35 Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Lambert would be insulted if he were to see this thread! No debate here folks, Lambert outclasses him in every department. This!
Leicestersaint Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Lambert obviously - but what a silly thread!
jjsaint Posted 5 April, 2012 Posted 5 April, 2012 Andy Carroll's very existence offends me on a very deep level. SRL for me.

You simply pass on anything you charge, minus what you have paid, to the revenue.

Your right but if you don't spend out on players as well as receiving for players you have sold you will have a much greater VAT on receipts and have to pay to the HMRC but if you do spend on players in the VAT on what you've paid evens out.

It's a tax. If you pay out more than you get in, you simple pay a lower VAT bill - but it's not your money. It's money you collected on behalf of HMRC. 'You' don't pay it out, it was never your money. This is one of the primary reasons HMRC go bonkers over unpaid VAT bills. And something I seem to spend an inordinate of time explaining to my colleagues when they are trying to spend cash in the bank which belongs to the treasury...
The9 Posted 6 April, 2012 Author Posted 6 April, 2012 Lambert would be insulted if he were to see this thread! No debate here folks, Lambert outclasses him in every department. I'm pretty sure Carroll is faster, and he'll still be playing in 10 years' time.
