Any news on Lambert?

If this is true it should be kept underwraps... whilst I would love Rickie to be back, it is urely up to the club use that information as they see fit

I think this will serve as a crushing blow to Appleton and his team, on the same day that their best creative talent is revealed to be out for the season. They must be quite downbeat in the skate camp at the moment.

OS says "set to return" so thats not definite is it ?

As close to definite as you can be, especially with what Solent tweeted.

What are you expecting the OS to say? "Rickie Lambert will definitely be in the team on Saturday"? I think they are slightly more tactful than that.

Very true. In fact, after the initial elation at hearing this news earlier (via BBC Solent) I've now dipped into pessimistic mode again and have a hunch this could be another Adkins smokescreen tactic....

Some people are never happy...I seriously doubt Saints are this elaborate in their mind games. If there hadn't been any news then you'd be saying that was a bad sign and Lambert was definitely out.

I can't really see how we'd benefit from implying he's fit when he isn't. Sure P*mpey would have to rejig their tactics if they set up expecting Lambert, but the boost from hearing he's not playing would offset any negative impact of this rejig

I'm not making any rational judgement on the situation. Just displaying typical human irrationality. Sincere apologies for my human behaviour.

Just heard from a source close to the family that he doesn't think he'll make it for Saturday, apparently he's just had an X-ray on his hip.

So who's right, the source close to the family or Nigel Adkins who says he's been banging them in in training ?

Time will tell I guess,

What the f**k are you on about you illiterate clown?

"Illiterate"? I think not.

You spent some time recently on the "Saints for sale" thread trying to argue the case, and suggesting Cortese was lining us up to be sold when we achieved prem status. I disagreed with you, along with some others on here. That was before the club statement which pretty much dismissed the idea.

Yes, illiterate might have been a bit harsh, just very, very thick is probably more appropriate. You clearly didn't read what I posted, which is a pity as it was quite straight forward.

Just watched Nigel Adkin's press conference where he said and i quote, "Rickie is A-OK for Saturday and is banging them in in training".

And, of course, they showed footage to back this up...?

(sorry, I can't help myself...)

Guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow for that.

Anyway I guess you'd have to take Nigel's word for it over "a source close to the family" because let's face if the former is

bullsh*tting that's going to damage his credibility whereas for the latter, it's just an anonymous post on a forum.

NA could mean he A-OK for an operation Saturday , as for "banging them in " ........

Didn't someone say the other week when he was doubtful that they spoke to him in the pub and he said he was injured?

He then took the field at the weekend.

I think a source in the family isn't anywhere near credible.

I did read what you posted, "very, very naive.", which was in response to a comment I made suggesting that the primary concern of Cortese and the Liebherrs was probably not purely financial, and that the club and management had already stated that on numerous occasions. The thread was based on the suggestion that the club would be sold to new owners when it's value increased as a result of our (hopefully) impending promotion to the premier league. You then took issue with the idea that we play any different style of football to other teams, and several posters disagreed with you. I don't see how that makes me particularly thick.

So you lost an argument a few weeks ago and thought you'd take it up again on this thread. Bit odd to be honest, but at least you don't stop trying.

But what if VMAN is in on the clubs conspiracy to hide the truth from the fans? I haven't been more convinced he won't play since Adkins said he would earlier today.

Ah, good point. VMAN you devious git! Almost had me there for a minute
