Watching the derby abroad

I will find myself in Los Angeles this weekend when we play Poopey. I know the game is not being shown on TV in the UK, but does anyone know if any foreign channels have picked it up? Am I likely to find an internet stream showing it? Or, even better, will a pub have it on?

Tips from overseas saints, especially those based in the USofA, much appreciated.

I appreciate that is is poor form finding oneself in such a position and will endeavour to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I'm in the same situation, and hoping that al Jazeera will have it on

they usually broadcast all the 3o'clock prem games as people watching in the middle east doesnt affect attendances here, and they have more chamionship games on tv than we do here, i watched the west ham reading game on sat

problem is they only tell you the next 5 or 6 days of live tv, so i have no idea if they will show the derby but fingers crossed

and if its on there will be a stream of it, dunno if i'm allowed to say where though on here

Might have been smart to post this in the overseas section of the forum - yeah, yeah I know we're leapers but there are a few of us around still ;)

Not much hope for US based Saints fans yet - Fox Soccer Plus are showing Celtic vs Kilmarnock and regular Fox Soccer channel is showing commercial paid programming. There's a chance if a terrestrial UK provider is broadcasting it, they'll show it but its unlikely if there's no live feed already being streamed.

However, programming changes in the schedule quite often as camera crews will be there to record it, it just depends on whether one of the distributors wants to pickup the turnaround and broadcast fees. Would love to know who decides and how they make the decision.

I thought that we were on at 5pm PST with a 30hr or so delay on Fox Soccer Plus. Watch this space, or the dedicated thread in this forum closer to the time. If we are on, I expect there will be bars in LA showing it...but call them to confirm.

BTW - I checked the regular Fox Soccer Channel schedule and there are no games screened simultaniously, so you might be in luck.

I shall be in San Juan, Tenerife this weekend. Hoping there will be a bar showing the game. I'm taking my Saints shirt specially (so hoping no Pompey nutters around!)

I am in Los Gigantes just 5 miles north of you. If anywhere is showing it Richardsons by the square in the village here will. I will check nearer the time and let you know.

Come on DP: haven't you got any contacts? Tell them it's an important match, a sell-out and will have a great atmosphere, plus potential off-pitch violence for added viewer appeal..

TBH I won't be in any fit state anyway. Sandance on the Friday night with Kaiser Chiefs. The last one was legendary don't think Eric has recovered from the tales yet!

This one? Simples

I Predict a Riot

Never fear everyone. Next season EVERY PL game is shown on TV over here (Probably by then Al Jazeera instead of Abu Dhabi) and they may reach the bottom edge of Italy with NileSat

IF they get it then getting access is a pint of 6X and the cost of the subscription card from any gas station here;)

Wow, brilliant, some local knowledge! I usually stay around Golf Del Sur, Los Cris, Las Americas. Been talked into staying up at Playa San Juan this time to meet friends. Don't know the west coast at all. I fly out Wednesday, so if you have the chance to check out this bar tomorrow and post either here or PM me, that would be great. Thanks for this.

I'm off to Gran Canaria tomorrow, missing Pompey, Palace & Reading. Bloody school holidays.

You'll probably find a bar showing the games. If not, get a flight/ferry over to Las Americas, Tenerife - lots of sports bars there.

I was in Cyprus for the first day of the season. Found a sports bar and was delighted to see a young lad wearing a Saints shirt there with his Dad. They were from Netley Abbey. Always good to find fellow Saints fans for games when abroad. We outclassed Leeds 3-1, IIRC.

Yeah, don't think Reading will be a problem as its on Sky but Pompey?

I've made a note of all the games involving the top 3 and the various dates and ko times. I'm going to spend half my time in front of a PC checking on the scores, it's going to be the most nerve wracking holiday ever!

You KNOW what happened to us at the last one

Just make sure the Manager has a stock of Tabasco & Worcester Sauce for my Bloody Mary's - it's a damned early kick off

What about us froggies ?

nothing for us specifically, you'll have to try to catch the AlJism stream suppose.

L'Equipe is a really crap match simply because it's at 4 o clock CET.Can't remember what it is Bristol City-Forest or something like that anyway.

Al Jism sport is going to start broadcasting here in June in preparation for their Ligue 1 matches next season. Don't know how they're going about it though, cable and broadband perhaps. All very well if you live in the cities but in ras-campagne where the debit is 8 MO max you miss out as usual.

Still be better for us next season with Canal showing about 5/6 PL matches every week.Might be on one week in 2.

Rumours here are that Al Jism are preparing to takeover Football totally. They want to kick Abu Dhabi Sports out & get regional PL coverage again. Their Customer service is krap but they have a damned gppd Studio team everyweek for CL & the like. They also rumoured to bid to get the UK rights. They may end up on Hotbird/Astra as a result. their subscription system is simple buy a decoder and buy a smart card ($100 a year)

Might give the Brits a panic needing a 2nd box though! some of us down here have to have about 4!

Thanks. I'll look it up later and see what they're proposing. For the time being Canal+ is pretty decent though but with the full packages and the satellite package it comes to well over 75£ a month, it's not something that everyone can afford. Al Jazeera are

doing whatever it is they're going to do at 11 euros a month apparently but whether that's just for the football I couldn't say.

Don't watch French football on TV anyway, team scarf knitting would be more exciting.

Nope, I'm screwed here. It would normally be no problem, plenty of decent football pubs in Bergen, but in Norway at Easter you go up to your family's mountain cabin for Easter skiing. I won't even have a decent mobile signal up there. I've been phoning around every pub that shows football within 90 minutes drive of the place and they are only showing the Spurs game.

********.

I'll at least be nicking the Mrs' iphone and getting up to high ground to keep track as best as I can. Is it right you can't get saintsplayer on the iphone? Is there an alternative way to listen?

Likewise, except I'm going to Egypt.

Much chance that there'll be places broadcasting al Jazeera there?

We might never play them again.

Problem solved!

Thanks for all the help. Having considered the time difference a little more, it turns out I'll be running the Hollywood Half Marathon at 13:30 UK time (05:30 USA!!). What a ****ing noob. Gutted :-( I'll have to set a new pb (and world record), to catch any of the game live. MUG.

Yes

However Egypt is a pretty big place so difficult to be specific.

Based on previous trips, the SemiRamis in Cairo will not

If you REALLY want help I can check with a mate up there. I know that they will now be showing the game at the Four Seasons & Sheraton in Damascus. Guess that won't help much either OTHER than some Syrian (non revolutionary/neutral type Saints will be watching over there

Ta, gives me some hope.

We'll be in pure tourist territory (Sharm el-Sheikh) so I'm not sure if that makes much difference. Planning to visit Cairo at some point but probably better doing that on a day when my mind's not entirely consumed by football

Try the Camel Bar.

Down the end of the main drag near the "harbour" where you go out on the Dive boats. A mate watched a Saints game there a few years ago

Anyone in Singapore can watch the game at The Dog n Bone in Siglap. There will be at least me and hk phoey there. There will also be one P#mpy fan there to make it more interesting! I've also persuaded the manageress to where a saints top for the game!

In Australia the game is being shown on BET 365 - starting at 10pm in Eastern states. You need to join and open a funded betting account with a minimum of $10. It's a very good quality stream too.

Cheers for that bud. Shou;d I bet on Pompey, as I always lose every bet I make?
