Blackpool 3-0 Saints Reaction

Inept, but let's forget about it and move on. Hopefully the players do to, because dwelling on that performance will kill us.

It was the worst i've seen us play in a long time, so suprised by that display. Didn't expect that at all.

If teams press us and lambert isn't in the team we struggle big time as we have no out ball. Let's hope he's back asap.

My ratings:

Davis 6

Butterfield 2

Fonte 5

Hooiveld 4

Fox 3

Lallana 3

Schneiderlin 7

Cork 5

Chaplow 2

(De Ridder 4)

Guly 6

Sharp 4

People will point out the positives from today and rightly so, we are still leading the race, 6 points clear of WHam and a really good points return from March.

BUT today was completely unacceptable from everyone, bar maybe Morgan and Guly. The players need to be made aware of this, and then we can draw our friend the blue line.

Poor performance. We just didn't turn up, by the time we started playing, we were 3-0 down and it was effectively game over.

however, there were some positives, Morgan played well, Lallana looked lively, Sharp played well on his own up front, and I honestly believe that this result is the perfect result. We haven't been playing that well recently, and Claridge summed it up perfectly, with us knowing WH lost, we looked complacent. I hope and think this result will be the kick up the backside that we need. I had this down as our hardest game remaining, and so it proved.

The back 4 and Cork were also poor today, we were too far away from their wingers from the 1st minute,

I knew that we would have 1 bad game/result and I'm glad it was this week not next week.

Hopefully Lambert, Lee and Richardson are fit for next week

That was ****ing crap. Did we miss Lambert that much? I'm not sure. I just think we were awful all over the pitch. Sharps penalty was crap, needed to take the keeper out of the equation, he didn't and he was punished.

Did the Saints fans boo Guly when he came off or was it the home fans because he won the penalty? He wasn't any worse than any of the other players on the day. You are a c*nt mongy mong mong if you boo a Saints player.

Fox was ****. So ****. He was nowhere too often. Total ****.

I cannot think of one single player who came out of that performance with any credit today.

Everyone was dreadful and I dont think there has been another instance of that for the past 18 months.

I just hope Richardson, Connolly, Lambert and Lee, or at least three of them, are back next week.

No width, no pace, no control, no defence just plain awful.

A big kick up the backside I hope.

It was rubbish.

Credit to Holloway for setting his team up, without Lambert to hold the ball up our tactical switches were woefully ineffective.

Guly was NOT the only bad player on the pitch today, Lallana, Sharp and Chaplow all were worse IMHO

At the end of the day this is all about PL football next season. Thanks to Reading nothing has changed EXCEPT we have a week to get RL fit and to get the illness out of the systems of the players

West Ham lost as well. One more game gone, gap to 3rd place is still 2 games (+ GD) with 6 to play.

A pity about the title though.

We're still top you idiot. We haven't lost the title, stop over reacting like you always do.

We have reading at home to sort that out. Believe.

Swings and roundabouts, fox was seriously good against Donny!

Lets hope Lamberts back next game, because they played like he was playing today. And Sharp aint no Lambert!!!

We need to hope Lambert AND Lee are back next week, Connors as well would be a bonus. Without L&L we have a bit of a problem, because Billy is not going to do it for us.

Glad someone noticed Guly, I thought he put in a decent shift amongst the ****.

Butterfield and Chaplow looked like sunday league players.

I actually thought he was ****, I just don't wanna be called a racist ;)

Seriously though he worked hard today, but was let down by the (lack of) movement up top and the snail like counter attacking from midfield.

No excuses we were rubbish in every department and it just shows that Lambert is key. Anyone who cannot see that has blinkers on.

At least this may put to bed the stupid complacent threads from those thinking we are already up. We have a fight on our hands. **** 2nd place I want top spot so now is the time to show what we are made of.

You could not pick a better fixture next week to get a reaction from the players. COYR

Awful performance no doubt about it.

Thought Guly did OK. Only player on the pitch who looked like he might score.

Sharp spent the whole match offside (and what a dreadful pen). Butterfield was dreadful.

A very tough watch. Thank god the skates game aint on TV.

Anybody seen that replay of Jos' defending for the 3rd goal. Incredible!

Put it down as a crazy day and move on. 6 points at Easter and tonight will be a very distant memory.

His defending for the 2nd wasn't too shabby either....he had a stinker.

Was it just me or did the players look like missing that bit of bite?

Pool looked fitter and more dynamic all over the pitch whilst the boys looked a bit one paced all over?!?

We didn't play with our usual energy, not sure why. We looked sluggish and never got to grips with it, we also didn't seem to know what to do when we had the ball in the final 3rd. Seemingly there was no game plan without Lambert.

Woeful display today and thought we were very poor all over the park. Their two classy wingers Ince and Phillips ran riot down the flanks - would love them in our squad. We looked cumbersome, slow and devoid of ideas. Sharp had a shocker topped off by the penalty miss - he looked yards off the pace and it makes you appreciate just how good Rickie is. Need to get this out of our system quick and put in a good week ahead of the Easter fixture as we certainly can't afford another inept disply like that between now and the end of the season or things are going to get really nervy.

Why 'pity'. Does losing 1 game preclude us from winning it? I thought being top at the end of the season meant you won the title? Just checked the table - think we were still top...

What a strange comment.

I wasn't particularly optimistic going into the game but at the same time wasn't expecting that scoreline. Knew it wasn't going to be our day when Sharp missed the penalty, with no Lambert to take the penalty I just thought whoever was going to take it wasn't going to score it. Having said that the team kept on playing, the fans kept on singing and we're still in the best position. Pushing back the KO with the players already knowing results probably didn't help either. Still, I'm pretty relaxed about it, which is probably the positive effect Adkins has on the club in that we don't panic when we lose. Bring on the skates!
