dronskisaint Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 No other team in the league would say no to swapping positions with us,including Reading and WHU. Nail, head...
S-Clarke Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 I bet we don't go up. 3rd place & defeat in the play offs. Skate.
scotty Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 Two more wins should be enough for promotion:) Probably right, but I'll agree when whu lose another game.
positivepete Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 West ham have given up hope of catching us, their only hope of avoiding the play offs now is if we beat Reading, even then they still have a lot to do.
Professor Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 This is truly frightening!!! Why are a bunch of New York Mafia Thugs pictured above our result? Did we lose because of an offer we couldn't refuse??
S-Clarke Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 Just an interesting few predictions These are just based on my predictions for what it's worth, and I've gone for pretty much worst case scenario for us and best case scenario for WHU. These are the points hauls I calculated from the final 6 games: I predict we'll get 10pts WHU will get 16 pts Reading will get 11 pts. We still finish top, WHU scrape 2nd and I've seriously overcooked WHU's results as I wanted to see what they'd have to do to overhaul us. Realistically they need to win all their games and we need to switch to relegation form. Saints - 88 WHU - 88 Reading - 87
Window Cleaner Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 3 wins and West Ham would need 5! and a draw. West Ham need to make up 7 points because they ain't going to boost their GD by +14 compared to ours.
Whitey Grandad Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 Two more wins should be enough for promotion:) I think we might need three. I hope it's the next three and not the last.
Badger Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 3 wins and West Ham would need 5! 3 wins seem simple if you say it or read it fast enough, but after the performance yesterday (and possibly v Doncaster despite the reult),and the uncertainty over RL given his importance to us, it is by no means a foregone conclusion. Yes we should be capable, but it is not beyond us to balls it up either. Hopefully it will look cleare and better after easter, and positive after Reading.

As well as us ballsing it up, it would also require West Ham to go on a wonder run. The miserablists seem convinced that WHU are now going to win every single remaining game. But if it was Saints in that exact position they wouldn't be saying that at all. They'd be saying "thats it then. We're definitely going to finish eighth." Why are the pessimists about us always such raging cheerleaders for every other team, with breathtaking optimism for any other club that isn't us? Edited 1 April, 2012 by CB Fry

I think West Ham are something like Lower Middle of the current form table whilst we're in top 3/4 (depending on number of games = current form). THink we've got 13 points from 6 games and they've only got 7 They'd have to seriously up their game as well as us fall away massively. Champions will be a push and the home Reading match critical, but I've always been a top two man and am not at all bothered about going up in first place (although it would be nice). Although yesterday's performance and no Lambert isn't the best way to end a season!!!!!

Its a fair point that you make, but it does not really need West Ham to go on a "wonder run" at all, merely for us to lose two,and them to win two. That is not a major swing on the "swingometer" is it ? If that happens in the next three/four matches it changes the matter considerably. Nerves and momentum will play a major part in the outcome.I hope we will be strong in this department from our experiences last year, and suspect NA will prove a better soother of nerves and motivator than Fat Sam, and hopefully the slaphead at Reading.

So for that to happen we would then have lost, at best, three from four. After undefeated in twelve and top two for the entire season. And we've won without Lambert this season too. Seriously. Chill out. It's in the bag. Edited 1 April, 2012 by CB Fry

Have to admit I am anxiously hoping for the top spot, as Saints have still to win ther league in my lifetime.(apart from Football Combination).
bender Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 Yes I agree with you but we will struggle in the PL Blackpool had so much pace FFS worry about that during May, June and July. Seriously, now that the dissapointment has died down, I'm excited at the prospect of Wham not winning at Barnsley and us going into the Pompey game knowing a win will all but secure it.
Leicestersaint Posted 1 April, 2012 Posted 1 April, 2012 Come on you bunch of fannies, lets have none of your grizzling. We played terribly, boo hoo. It happens. It's an off day. Six points clear. We're going up. I sincerely hope so - but remember 1949 when we were 8 points clear at the top with 7 games to go but could only manage 4 more points and missed promotion by a single point. The Echo described it as a tragic slide almost without parallel. I am sure we won't do it this time but I would not count my chickens just yet.
