alpine_saint Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 This could go either way. You may be right. This may also be a second form downturn (injuries to our key players seem to be racking up again), with our nemesis team up next.

Didcot Saint Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 Wasnt our day, should have been two up before they scored, although neither were pens and the corner for their third didn't come off Fonte. The pitch was hard bobbly and ****e which didnt allow passing football.Should have defended better and Sharpe was shocking. Please let Rickie be fit for next week. That was our Rochdale away. Lot of excuses in there tbh......we didn't deserve a thing and we didn't lose because we were hard done by or because the pitch was ****, we lost because we had an inept day where we all forgot how to play football. Wilf Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 I make it that even if West Ham win ALL of their remaining games, and we get 2 points a game in ours, our goal difference will probably see us up! and that's leaving Reading out of the equation... So it's still very much in our hands...
MarkSFC Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 west ham need to get 7 more points than us in just 6 games. We could have been in a very strong position but as it is we are in a strong position. Basically two wins next weekend and we may well be able to clinch promotion against reading on tv at home! um pahars Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 would you prefer to be us or WHU right now? Agree with that and particularly given West Hams recent form. But that doesn't mean I can't be fooked off with a shoddy performance. We will go up, just don't think as Champions and think we will actually still be quite a few points ahead of a choking West Ham
teamsaint Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 we were poor. But miss a pen and an unmarked header away against a decent team, and you are probably going to suffer. i am a lot more worried about our injuries than about losing an away game to a good side. that third goal though......the worst we have done at a corner in a long time. gjphilsaint Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 When I looked at the March fixtures I was concerned that this month might be a real test, we were a point ahead of WHU who had a game in hand. We took 16 out of a possible 21 points this month. I was always worried about the Blackpool game, but on reflection it has been a good month. No one could legislate for Reading's great run (19pts out of 24), but at the same time, pleased with the poor form of West Ham over the same time (11 pts out of 24). So... still ours to win. Six points ahead of 3rd all on the same number of games.
gjphilsaint Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 By the way IF we had had the March that WHU have just experienced and they had achieved the results we managed instead.. then WHU would be top on 77,then Reading on 76 then us on 73. Worth remembering!!

doddisalegend Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 I rather enjoyed the BCC taters talking about how our players would love to be in the PL as they played anything like players desperate to get to the PL We're still in the driving seat for promotion....but that doesn't really disguise, or make up for, what was a really poor performance today from players who should of been busting a gut to get a result....Win against pompey and this result will be quickly forgotten. itchen_dan Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 To be fair, if we had won at Blackpool and lost at Hull or Leeds, I think many people would've accepted it and said brilliant month etc but football is all about expectations. To go to Hull and win so easily and comfortably (in the end) and get 3 massive points at Elland Road, made many people believe we could go to Blackpool and turn them over at home - a place where they've only lost 3 times this season! Overall it's been a superb month but it's been marred by this 1, disappointing display and result. As has been said, still 6 points clear of 3rd with superior goal difference so we effectively have 3 more "cock-ups" left this season which I cannot honestly see happening! It's gonna happen!! Believe!!

We're all so anxious as it is so near now. 4 weeks, 6 games. Plenty winnable in there. Bad day at the office, we bounce back well. Got to stay positive and get 3pts on Sat. saints-cris Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 Not too down about this, obviously if we were 9 clear we'd be all but promoted but saying that, West Ham still have to win at least 2 more games than us in 6 games. Beat Pompey (which we will) and all will look rosey.

Just found myself staring at our fixtures and the WH fixtures without even noticing Reading in the middle..... Yes I would love to win the league, but I am suddenly only worrying about top two. All this on a day where the gap between us and third is the same as it was before this weekend....?! The mind of a football fan eh??!!?!

Dr Who? Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 We have not been playing well away from home. Leeds we somehow won Millwall we somehow won Bit more even against Hull, and managed to win. Today we came unstuck against pace down the flanks. Still we will go up Skates 3 points Palace 3 points Reading 1 point Posh 1 point Middlesbough 0 points Coventry 3 points 11 points, and that is aiming low. No sorry, lose 3-2 and playing well I would not be happy but I could take it, but today was on par with the Leeds game the other week but this time luck was not on our side. We looked worse than ordinary and I hope that NA can pick the team up and get going again. Saintjersey Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 I would be delighted with coming second...... however after occupying first place for the majority of the season and to slip down to second right at the end would be a bit of a kick in the balls. This. (Fairly) confident that we can go up this season - but after being in pole position most of the way - would take a bit of the gloss off of the season if we came in second. We were dog turd today and it has to be a one off - otherwise we could go into melt down.

But last season we put a great run togeather in order to beat of Huddersfield - this season we need to show some balls and do it from the front.
