Just back from cleaning myself up after reading thread title and realizing that it's an almost direct parallel to 1949 when we lost our main striker, blew a mega-point lead and missed out on promotion (see Fitzhugh's post a while back).

Anxiously awaiting A) confirmation that it's ****** or B) a win, and ideally both.

Some of you might owe this boy an apology

Quite. A lad posted something he heard and gets slated by people old enough to know better - who then slink off when it appears the lad was right and they were wrong. And people wonder why some dont post.

If he had an op and was out for the season I think there would have been an annoucement by now...Its too big a story for it not to be

Saints like to keep lineups close to their chest until the very last minute, so that'll be why nothing has been mentioned officially. Now it's official that Lambert isn't in the squad, I'm sure the announcement will follow soon, if he's out for the rest of the season.

if hes out for the season adkins wouldnt release it until after the blackpool game. very keen to keep his cards close to his chest for each game and so wouldnt give anything away about the team. A team vs saints will defensively concentrate on playing vs Lambert as he is the top scorer by miles in the league.

I would like to think he is just not fit enough for the game and is being protected for the big easter weekend

He's been carrying some kind of hip / groin injury since at least the infamous Pardew preseason. Wouldnt surprise me if the club have taken the opportunity to get him sorted well in advance of next season - given Sharp and Chung have both proved they can do the job.

He hasn't (as of yet) been confirmed as out for the season. Regardless of that, the opening poster still wasn't correct in all he said. For example saying the squad travelled to Blackpool today by plane.

Sorry I got the day wrong. Clutching at straws springs to mind.

yes, got 08 plate alfa romeo...gone diesel now, constantly filling up my previous car cost a fortune (3.5 v6)

OMG, got semething in common with TDD, new Alfa Giulietta today, but not an 08 plate, try a 12 (or whatever it would be if I didn't have my own plate). Also gone back to a dirty diesel, now if only I could find a garage that has some diesel for sale.

Unbelievable risk if so, that is really taking promtion for granted.

If we were already promoted that would sound feasible, but with such a long way to go and so many things undecided that is too big a risk to take. If he could carry on until the summer with injections then we'd keep him going, I'm sure of it.

Depends how bad the injury is, whether RL would have been playing at such reduced capacity that Sharp / Chung would be better bets and whether playing is going to aggravate it and cause long term damage. Questions neither of us have the answer to but the club does in making the decision.

The trouble is, Adkins is so keen on keeping things secret (and I don't blame him) that we may not be clear for some time. After all, after the last game he laughed and said Lambert would be fit for today.

My nerves are getting more frazzled by the minute

Adkins plays his card close to his chest. He isn't rested. I guarantee a few will argue.
