Verbal Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 Homeland. Singular. And so far, yes, although the wife is oddly miscast.

Special K Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 Classic the other week. Watching in bed with the wife. She says "That Damien Lewis is quite nice" 10 seconds lter his character tells his wife to kneel down whilst he bangs one out all over her tits. I say "i guess he isn't so nice now?" "No" she says and turns the TV off!! SUNDAYNIGHTLOLAGE

Sheaf Saint Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 Homeland. Singular. This. I saw the thread title and assumed it would be about the dance music festival that used to take place at Matterley Bowl in Winchester every year.
norwaysaint Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 I stopped watching Breaking Bad during the second series. The problem was that I hated every single character, which meant I never really enjoyed it. The main bloke was annoying, his friend was annoying, his wife was annoying, the in-laws were annoying. I just got annoyed with it basically. Glasgow Saint, the missing series in your life is probably Entourage, although even that went on a season or two too long. Nothing touches The Wire for me so far though. Haven't seen Homeland yet.
FarehamRed Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 I like Sons of Anarchy. Breaking Bad is clearly the best around though.

Strangely i have had season 8 sat on the memory stick for a while and not in a hurry to watch it! Not sure why? Watched the wire (all seasons) superb! Only watched 2 seasons of breaking bad........ Having thought about it more its probably an 8/10 i did really enjoy it. I will investigate game of thrones - i had looked at this before but was put off for some reason (mythical land?) i will take another look as just finished season 1 of the walking dead and am not racing to watch s2
Dig Dig Posted 31 March, 2012 Share Posted 31 March, 2012 Get some Dexter in your life Glasgow. Just finished Game of Thrones. Worth a watch although I'd give it a 6/10. Started board walk empire last night, really enjoying that.

niceandfriendly Posted 1 April, 2012 Share Posted 1 April, 2012 You found well written characters annoying, but like the character in....Entourage?! So the characters in Entourage aren't well written? Two words: Ari Gold. There's a good reason Jeremy Piven was nominated for an Emmy four straight years for that role between 05-08 and won it three times. Great show, brilliantly written IMO. The last season of Breaking Bad was amazing, building on everything that was established over the previous three seasons. No spoilers from me, but I'm a huge fan of the Wire and by the end of S4 of Breaking Bad, felt I'd found something that was 'as good' as that amazing show, better in some departments. norwaysaint Posted 1 April, 2012 Share Posted 1 April, 2012 You found well written characters annoying, but like the character in....Entourage?! Yes. I disliked all of the characters in Breaking Bad, not the actors, just the characters and I found that a bit wearing after a 2 seasons. The characters in Entourage were very likeable, especially Ari and Johnny. I don't just mean because of the "bad" side of it either. I thought mot of the characters in The Wire were great to watch too and most of them were pretty sleazy.
norwaysaint Posted 2 April, 2012 Share Posted 2 April, 2012 I've just watched the first two episodes of Game of Thrones. It seems pretty good, with plenty of female nudity too, which is always a bonus. Or was that what everybody was recommending?
shurlock Posted 2 April, 2012 Share Posted 2 April, 2012 Homeland is OK but it goes a bit 24 as the series unfold, squandering some of the tension and suspense that its quasi-realism had painstakingly built up. Like some US comedy: Eastbound and Down and Louis CK are v.good.

LVSaint Posted 3 April, 2012 Share Posted 3 April, 2012 Just finished the first season of Homeland and enjoyed it. Not outstanding, but pretty decent. Didn't realise Damian Lewis was English. Another of those instances where I've watched an entire season of an American show without knowing the main actor was English (Idris Elba and Dominic West with The Wire several years ago, and Rick from Walking Dead) TRying to catch up with The Killing on Netflix. New season has just started on AMC. Ok. Set in the lush and wet Seattle backdrop. Bit of a Twin Peaks; who killed the girl vibe, without being quite as good or as mad....yet. LVSaint Posted 4 April, 2012 Share Posted 4 April, 2012 Damian Lewis played a Yank in Band of Brothers as well. Ah, yes, forgot about him in that. Not watched the series proper yet. Waiting for the big screen LCD eventually to get the full effect of Band of Bros on BluRay. I've really enjoyed Homeland, haven't downloaded it so actually watching it on C4. Claire Danes is absolutely gorgeous as well. She is very nice indeed...and Brody's wife. When did it start on C4? Are they likely to repeat episodes after finishing the first run? Wanted to alert my folks that it was on terrestrial over there.

We're about 6/7 (I think) episodes in over here, though they will be able to watch it on-line on C4 On Demand.
