I've been saying for weeks that Reading at home is a good game for us to have to play. If we can win these next two games we'll have done it.

He was exposed as a skate a while ago...

Ha ha ha ha ha. I know him very well and you couldn't be more wrong. He's a decent lad. I've always enjoyed a good bit of banter with him. Ever since I've known him he's always looked at the negative side of things where as I always have a more optimistic outlook. His view is to look at the worst that could happen and anything above and beyond that is a major bonus. He bets against Saints quite a bit, saying that if they lose at least he gets something to cheer him up and if they win it's worth every penny. I can't imagine that he's made much over the last 2 seasons. lol.

In fairness to the lad he predicted Saints would make the FA Cup final after the 4-0 win over Spurs. He also correctly predicted relegation from the premier league before the season had even started and won a substantial amount of money. His view is to look at the worst that could happen and anything above and beyond that is a major bonus.

I think we will go up

But I also I think, unless we buy serious players we will come straight back down

I can't see allot of our players competing with a lot of the class in

The premiership.

Iny opinion would need at least 3 big names all the way through the spine on the team

We have a good team when our best team is out but if some of our better players got injured we would be ****ed

I dont see how you can conclude this yet.

Inside the top 6 or 7, probably.

But I reckon with a bit of luck this squad with a couple of reinforcements could get top 12.

I asked my Hammer work colleague on Tuesday whether he thought Birmingham had a chance of catching West Ham and take 3rd place.

"No chance" he said, but he still harbours hopes, albeit slimming ones, that the Hammers will make up the same points difference over Saints/Reading...

I believe you need to build on the engine of the team.

Davis

Jos

Fonte

Fox

Lallana

Cork

Lambert

Spider

These are starters so I would say Clyne - right back

Ambrose - Ball winner

nippy winger no 1

nippy winger no 2

and Hooper from Celtic.

and a brick house Centre Back.

6 player in like Swansea and Norwich did.

Pilchards....Ambrose is no ball winner im afraid...he is an attacking midfielder

Clyne would be an excellent signing...as would Zaha from Palace...Phillips from Blackpool...Adamoah as a back up on the left for Lallana...Butterfield on a free...Curtis Davies from Brum and then Hooper from Celtic and Rodrigues from Burnely

I've seen Clyne ande Zaha play a few times now and neither have looked amazing. Yeah, got a bit of potential to work with, but hardly the world beaters they're often made out to be.

I felt the need to bump a pessimistic thread as all the threads that assume we're already done and dusted are making me unduly nervous!

Let's have a bit more negativity to balance out the premature euphoria!

We can still throw this away...!

(ah, that's better)

Negativity, great. ;-)

I think we'll lose at 'Boro & get a point against Cov. It'll all go down to GD on the last day.

Is that negative enough for you?

Yes! Thanks. I'm starting to feel like a proper Saints fan again. The confidence levels on here this week are doing my head in!
