Does anyone think we wont go up ?

The problem is we are all used to supporting Southampton, we are not used to being in a situation like this apart from last season.

Today will be extremely tough and if we get a point we should all be happy especially if the other game ends in a draw. The pressure will grow game by game and we really do have some tough games left.

I can see this going right to the cov game and that really will be squeaky bum time.

Failing that forecast lets just spank Blackpool and get it over with as soon as.

Mathematically we need 14 points for promotion. Every point we get, or the 3rd placed team drops, reduces that.

When it's down to 0, and not before, I'll celebrate and hope to win the league too.

Now down to 13 (points for us or points dropped by WHU). Which means if they meet BFS's challenge and win all 6 (unlikely?) we can only afford one more loss and one draw.

Plenty left in this yet.

We can afford to lose 2 more if we keep the GD above theirs. As it stands they need to win 2 more than us and get one other better result, other than that they need a goal glut and let's face it it's West Ham and they don't seem to do goal gluts.

We won't get promoted. Got a few quid on us finishing 3rd. Been saying for weeks that we'll finish 3rd and screw up in the play offs.

You're quite clearly on some sort of sad wind up. You've been saying we're going to lose before we've played any game this season, so far they've proved you very wrong.

You're looking a bit of a prize pillock btw.

look here....tragic reading....

this was the day before the plymouth game...where 1 win from the last 2 would promote us and we were unstoppable at that time

We'll lose today. Sadly I don't see us getting automatic promotion and I think we could well miss out in the play offs.

I'll be over the moon to see us go up but I do feel this season has been a...

Do I think we'll go up? I'm undecided. My mood changes more than a pregnant woman. It all depends on Saturday. If we win, our confidence will return and I think we'll go on and get promoted. If we fail to win, I think doubts will start to set into the players minds and we'll finish 3rd.

Either way, if we don't go up, it won't be the end of the world, we have a great team and just a few more additions will make us stronger and in a better position. West Ham on the other hand, need to go up this year

Everybody I speak to who are not Saints Fans thinks we will go up

Lets face the other teams apart from Reading are unable to sustain a promotion winning run of games

Look at Cardiff B'Ham Middlesboro West Ham all inconsistent

I think we will go up this season - not sure whether as champions though - if we do blow it, "it" will be the championship title.

Enjoy the feeling, because next season will be about not getting relegated [after a terrific start that sees us top 4 of course ;-0].

And then we will be back to mid-table mediocrity in the premier league, punching above our weight but struggling behind the 'super [rich] clubs'.

Last season was amazing and this season has been a fantastic roller coaster ride so far, and I'm going to enjoy the ride [with the exception of saturday's dip obviously].

Really, 4-1, 4-1...... damn close! Don't know why I was so embarrased now!

Which is why I said 'nearly always close' - some on here are assuming that we will walk that game because we are top and they are bottom (nearly).

P.S. For your future sarcastic replies, the word is spelt 'embarrassed'.

Yes, that's how it nearly always works.

We have just lost our first game in the last 12. We stand top of the table 2 points ahead of 2nd and SIX points ahead of 3rd. Naturally no one wants to lose in the fashion we did on Saturday, but we must all keep calm. Whether SRL is fit enough to end the season or not, should not get in the way of the job in hand; 12 points from 6 games, maybe less if WHU drop points. I think it is quite natural to be nervous as a fan at this stage, but lets be grateful we are in the position that we find ourselves in. I suggest we get this Blackpool game out of our system now and get behind the team no matter who plays and encourage, cheer, clap and sing for the wonderful red and white of Southampton FC. We dare to believe, lets not stop now, just when it begins to get interesting. No rolling over here. Onwards.....!!

I don't think we will do it. Think we will lose today and draw against Pompey. We have some tough away games left. I can see WHU winning today and going on a run.

Certainly looking a lot tighter now. We will go up providing we are the best or second best team over a 46 game season.

Oh, quit your foul whining. I have a really bad sense of foreboding. Reading were going to lose their form, according to you and others, and havent.

Alpine, your 'bad sense of foreboding' is an altogether too regular an occurrence, try and relax mate...

Good advice.

You bunch of delusional mongs reckon tomorrow is going to be a f**king cakewalk.

Here's a prediction, if I get it wrong, I will make a 20quid donation to a charity that we can choose between us:

tomorrow will be the toughest game of the season for us, and no more than a single goal will decide it - either way.

I have a really bad sinkng feeling, having just seen today's results.

Got a bad, bad feeling we are going to come unstuck tomorrow, and blow promotion.

Don't wet your knickers. We only need 3 (if one is over Reading) or 4 wins to get over the line. We just have to assume Hammers & Reading will win all their games not against us.

Barnsley are dreadful and Leeds are so inconsistent it's untrue, with a threadbare squad and 10 men today to make it worse.

Have faith.

Sorry, but you're the one whining.

Just stop coming alive at the slightest sniff of a negative, you're so depressingly predictable.

Nope - losing at home to Bristol City was the point when I thought this season wouldnt live up to what we were all hoping mid-November.

That is the biggest load of codswallop I have ever read in my life. How on earth is a result mid-season in December a turning point for the entire campaign? (and our first defeat at home in 27 odd games) We won plenty of games after that. If that result was a turning point, it would have equalled the spirial down the table. But it didn't. We got over it, and I think it's time you did as well.

No one thinks it'll be a cakewalk, no has said that. I think most people have been reasoned in their predictions that you'd expect us to win, but it won't be a thrashing - which is a fair view.

You will come alive if we drop points tomorrow, you'll be in your prime. So let's hope we don't.

Because it showed us that a well-organised team, in our faces, with pace and energy, could snuff us out and steal a goal.

The Skates might be scraping the bottom of the barrel, but Appleton is not a bad gaffer and I expect us to face something similar tomorrow.

Great stuff. Pretty much every time you've made a prediction its gone spectacularly wrong. A good omen for the Saints.

And I'll happily meet that bet.

And you are a delusional mong, with dodgy political motivations.

you used the word mong in your last 3 posts. Is it a new word you've just learnt?

Here we are on the eve of a the most anticipated match of the season and here you are castigating fans who are getting behind the team and being positive. Like I said you're a d1ckhead.

There is no need to do that. I am not challenging anyone about the result on here. I am expressing my fears, and will delighted to benefit some deserving cause if I am proven wrong.
