Tokyo-Saint Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 South West Trains are planning some major engineering works on the day of the skates match. There is a reduced and slower service over the Easter weekend. If like me, you plan on travelling by train to the game, this might be useful: http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/uploads/120407weymouthdn.pdf It looks like you'll need to be on the 8:30 train (8:45 from Clapham Junction), if you plan on having a few drinks in town before the game. Not doubting you, just though it would be ok on a Saturday morning. Do you have any info on going via Redhill? Or does anyone have any better ideas on getting to the game? I don't fancy driving to this one.
maxi_sopez Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 I am going to get a train from paddington to reading, and then train from reading to southampton... Looks like the best bet and quickest.

Going via Paddington can be alright, depends which bit of London you live in really.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 29 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 29 March, 2012 South West, near Wimbledon. I think I'll just go up to Clapham Junction and take the 2 hour train. A few early morning whiskeys will help the journey pass.

Have never had a problem getting on a SWT from Waterloo to Soton - never once has it been crowded even when they run the sh*tty little suburbs rattlers. I'll be using my network railcard and paying £23.75 as usual. You should count your blessings - compared to most years, the Waterloo to Soton train has been relatively free from engineering work. stevegrant Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 SWT don't do seat bookings. That'll be why it comes up saying no seats available.
