stkev7 Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 Do we know whether pubs will be open after the game on the 7th April? As there will be no Skates about I'm sure it won't be a problem but it just depends on how the OB want to behave.

Pretty much all pubs were opened after the cup game the other year and that was no bubble. Only one's that might be are on their route out of the city (which we won't know until the day I think). alpine_saint Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 I would have thought the whole of Southampton would be in lock-down, to be honest.
stkev7 Posted 29 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 29 March, 2012 Trains are poor thanks to engineering work between Waterloo and Southampton Central so we'd have to leave at silly o'clock if we wanted a good pre-match booze up. We're planning on staying around for a good while after the game. Fingers crossed most will be open then.

IIRC they were actually officially closed for at least two hours after the game, but there was usually a back door if you were wearing Saints colours. That's how I got in. Won't say where as I'm pretty sure they should have been closed.

Sour Mash Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 I would have thought the whole of Southampton would be in lock-down, to be honest. Why? Pubs were packed at 9am for the cup game the other year, won't be too much different this time.

The skates were expecting to win, and didnt go into that game thinking that it could well be the last local derby game they would ever go to. Can you imagine the kick off if (non-football) shoppers couldn't get their cheap beer and burger from the Wetherspoons??

So let's just get this straight. You think all pubs in town are going to be closed? Not for the first or last time on here, you are wrong.

Also all trains between Salisbury and Romsey replaced by buses all Easter weekend so any fans From Bristol, Gillingham will add time to journey with it taking 1hr 20 mins to get from Salisbury to Southampton by bus/train when it normally takes 35mins. On the pub front i'm sure all will be open and many are already proposing opening earlier for breakfast
The Kraken Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 I would have thought the whole of Southampton would be in lock-down, to be honest. No chance. My mate owns a pub in town and he'll definitely be open for it, whereas in the past he's been "advised" by the police to close. Prior to the bubble the police were quite hot on shutting some pubs down for the morning/day; well they didn't say pubs "had" to close down, but that if there was trouble the landlord was pretty much on his own! The bubble has seen to it that pubs can now open up as per normal.
stkev7 Posted 29 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 29 March, 2012 oh balls we're planning on coming from waterloo on train...what are the problems?! It's taking 1 hour 51 minutes instead of the usual 1 hour 15 minutes. I'm guessing it's going via Guildford like they often do when there is work. Not so bad if you live in the capital but me and a few others are coming from outside London before we get to Waterloo. Just planning a good drink on the train now. SuperMikey Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 I'll be going to the KA as per usual. Doubt they'll turn away the hundreds of people that will want to come in for a post match tipple.

Golden Balls Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 If the skates come the way I think they will, The Station at the bottom of Bullar Road will be the place to 'welcome' them in. As for skates travelling down without tickets....what are they going to do? Sit around while everyone enjoys the game inside the ground? Bit sad. Hatch Posted 30 March, 2012 Share Posted 30 March, 2012 Pompey are nails remember, so after they get 'bubbled' back to Pompey, they will just jump on first train back.
sugarbabe64 Posted 30 March, 2012 Share Posted 30 March, 2012 There is a group of Pompey who have already planned to make the trip down without tickets and free from any bubble, and anyone who thinks any different is badly mistaken !!!

And seriously, what are they going to do? stand outside the ground and chant? Cause trouble in town! They sure as hell won't be able to get into (or anywhere near the ground), do these people have no brain-cells to rub together??
FarehamRed Posted 30 March, 2012 Share Posted 30 March, 2012 And seriously, what are they going to do? stand outside the ground and chant? You're probably right, but sometimes the old bill prefer all the "visitors" to be in one place, where they are better able to keep an eye on them. Badvoc Posted 30 March, 2012 Share Posted 30 March, 2012 Seriously, if any of them travel and cause one second of aggro, the consequences will be severe in the extreme re' criminal convictions etc etc-don't some of you lot remember what happened to the 'fence rattlers' of 2010? Who honestly would risk it when it will impact jobs, livelihoods etc when there are CC TV cameras everywhere and the repercussions of antisocial order are significant? Only a jobless loner with no home and family would even try it (OK, that's most of them included then!) Besides which, if some do try it on, then their collective memories must be shortlived. Didn't a few of them turn up for a 'meet and greet' outside the Joiners prior to the CC Dec 2003 game? From memory, it wasn't a good result for Poopey on or off the pitch that night. I never understand the mentality of some Saints. PFC are not the boogey men. Pound for pound and culturally Soton & Poopey are more alike than not...so just relax and enjoy the pre and post match beers!
Golden Balls Posted 30 March, 2012 Share Posted 30 March, 2012 you reckon....? was not the case in the cup game....saw loads of trouble around hog lands park... So did I. It was handbags and there was no bubble. Not much chance of actual trouble though. The likelyhood is these rebels coming without tickets are nothing more than a few chavs who fancy themselves against the first scarfers they see. They'd consider that a result. The implications when they get arrested would be huge. Like someone said, the sentances a few fence rattlers got was well over the top. Imagine what they'd hand out to those who purposely travel looking for trouble when avoiding a bubble. Long time in jail followed by much longer bans. Not good, the skates need all the fans they can get.
