Lighthouse Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 Up: Saints, Reading and Blackpool on account that I respect Reading much more than Wham this season and I've not yet had the chance to go on an away weekend in Blackpool. Down: Wigan, Blackburn and Bolton. All crap Northern towns/cities I really don't want to go to. With Wolves and QPR there will be some pretty good relegation fodder next season and don't count out Norwich or Swansea having a difficult second season now they have been found out. The wheels are a bit lose at Villa too and Fulham wont be far above the mix.
hutch Posted 30 March, 2012 Share Posted 30 March, 2012 SIGHHHHHHHHHH! I hate pointing out this fact but let's forget the "myth" that Blackburn are a badly supported club just because you see a team playing in a stadium which is too big for the club. I'm going to compare Blackburn, a town, to Southampton, a city. Blackburn = 105,000 population Blackburn Rovers ave attendance = 22,000 = 1/5 of population attend games. Southampton = 240,000 population Southampton ave attendance = 25,000 = 1/9 of population attend games If 1/5 of the population of Southampton attended the games then their average attendance would be just around 48,000. Not bad for a small town club, don't you think? Let's give their fans some credit where it's due and not fall into the trap by assuming they're badly supported when in fact you could say the same about Southampton. Following that logic you could argue that Eastleigh have more right to be in the PL than Southampton FWIW, I agree with you about Blackburn, but I think it was a fair comment if applied to Wigan. Nobody has a right to be in the PL, but in my muddled mind Wigan have been sitting in our seat since 2005, and it's time we took it back.
