Do we still hate him? On Super Sunday he said to Jamie Redknapp he was pleased for us being top.

And lets be honest when he slagged us off after leaving we were a complete joke of a club at the time, what with Woodward and Lowe. Just think it’s a bit harsh singing about his wife etc. Can’t we just boo him and keep it a bit light hearted rather than personal.

Why boo him at all?

He did a decent job for us I thought, and his supposed slagging of us after he left has been massively exaggerated. I thought his comments were perfectly fair. The abuse he has received from some quarters about it has been nothing short of disgusting IMO.

This. Don't be surprised if he comes back to haunt us, he is still class.

I remember the game up at WBA with Nigel Pearson in charge and we needed to Win or Draw to have a chance to stay up. Old KP "missed" what seemed like 20 easy goal scoring shots he would normally put away.

The guy never slagged us off just stated that things did not go so well when he came to us which actually was true considering what happened.

I like the guy and never really got why we always have a go at him.

Er, no, he said he was glad to get out of SFC, because he had never been happy while at Saints, couldnt quite work out why but it was always strange and he was glad to be moving on. 1) Seemed very happy while being well paid and things were going well; 2) contrast with Crouchie who seemed genuinely sad to be leaving us.

I liked him as a player, he was top quality and still think he is class. But his words on leaving were pretty sh*tty

I say lets not boo him coz that'll stop us scoring against us.

Who remembers WBA v Saints in 06/07 when he scored and celebrated in front of us after he had been ribbed all afternoon, and Saints v Brum in 08/09 when he got ribbed about his wife again as he came on as a sub - his first touch was kicking the ball into our net.

I always felt he gave it his all whilst on the pitch which is all anyone can ask. As for his comments after leaving. I feel he was refreshingly honest. A large number of fans seem to prefer to be patronised rather than hear the truth. And as for some of the songs some of our fans sing, well I think it makes us appear really "small time" A bit like the Brighton fans over Adkins comments last season.

Agree 110%.

I never understood why Harry, in the relegation season, signed five rubbish guys in January including his own son, and left KP on the bench. I didn't like KP but I understand why he didn't think much of his time here, a pity because he was local

I never hated him. All he said was that the move didn't feel right & he never settled in or some such thing. No biggie. I also feel that he gave a bit less than 100% when we played West Brom at the end of the 2007-08 season (IIRC a draw helped us stay up).

Not sure why we ever had so much of a hatred against him. Was it because he said something slightly negative on his departure from the club...?

It didn't really happen for him here, that's all he was getting at. The partnership between him and Beattie never took off, and where we were when he came to where we were when he left speaks volumes. It wasn't a happy club to play for with the shoddy managers we had going through the door.

He's a goal scorer though. Right place, right time - he'll always popup. 16 goals this year I think and he's 38/39? Pretty impressive to say the least.

I've never hated him. Decent for Saints, always gave his best and didn't say anything particularly bad about Saints when he joined Villa other than "it didn't feel right", despite what the torch-wielders on here would claim.

Here's the quote everyone seems to get so upset about :

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aston_villa/4636529.stm

"I'm glad I was able to get away from Southampton, I never really felt happy about joining them.

"It was a move that never really felt right for me and I'm glad I can resurrect my Premiership career."

"My partnership with James [beattie] never really got going.

"But I know I can make my mark and still score goals in the Premiership.

"It's too early to talk about targets but wherever I have played I've always set my sights on 20 goals a season.

"When it became clear Villa wanted me, I didn't want to go anywhere else."

Big deal.

WTF?

You quite often predict defeat - surely in all those instances, you'd be satisfied with a draw?

You are a prize idiot.

The two are mutually exclusive.

If I predict a defeat (which actually I dont recall doing in a LONG time) it does not mean that anything less than a win would satisfy me. In those cases I am predicting a defeat and dissastisfaction.

Maybe you should think through your posts a little before you rush to get a dig in.

NO disrespect intended, but Alps predicting a defeat and dissatisfaction, is no bad thing - it usualy means we win at a canter:smug:

As an oldie hoping to work on beyond normal retirement age, I'd cheer any veteran who's still playing regularly at 38. Is he the oldest in the Championship (apart from goalies of course)?

This is troubling me deeply as we approach the weekend, have to say.

Worrying you deeply? Jesus man, you are one serious drama queen.

Anyway, I don't get the Phillips stuff, he did a good job for us, and im not worried about Blackpool, we drew with them during our blip and would've won were it not for Bart in goal. (I think that was the right game)

I can usually laugh at football chants, but the chant about his wife disgusted me. Some things are so personal that they should be kept private.

Totally agree - there is 'fair game' banter and then, as you say, areas where you cross the line and things become offencive. No doubt though - some will think that all areas are open and everything is fair game.

Think footballer getting caught playing with grannies al la Rooney is IMHO fair game

Footballer who is alledgedly cheated on by mrs is not IMHO

...amyway, what usually happenes in these cases is that it just winds up the player to give even more effort and tehy usually score - totally counter productive...

I could care less about his private life, or people chanting about it (short of death and personal grief, which you'd hope is off limits), but I am seriously bothered about anything which gives opponents any motivation.
