Amazing Hangover Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Bored as I was yesterday, I worked out the combined train + match ticket price for all of the current Premier League away games. Average came to about £86. Add beer + food money and your looking at about £150-£200. Even at today's inflated ale prices that's 30 pints plus allowing for a couple of pies and a Chinese. Are you serious?
saints triumph Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Arsenal, Wigan, Swansea and Brighton if they go up. I've been to the rest.
This Charming Man Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Wigan, Stoke, Sunderland and Arsenal. Only grounds I've not been to in the Prem. Well I've been to the Emirates for a gig but that doesn't count. Hopefully Wigan survive...

JRM Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Just Wigan and Stoke for me, used to enjoy trips to the North East, remember a particular one to Sunderland on a Tuesday night in 2003 January when we had about 150 maximum there, 1-0 win. Not excited about going to the big teams, I used to dispear at games at old Trafford with the day trippers taking pictures and bags from united store, remember going to Chelsea think it was new years day when we won 4-2, bloke next to us had his Mrs with him who had clearly been to the Harrods sale before the game with plenty of bags, she didn’t look too happy when the mental goal celebrations meant her shopping was trampled on!! This Charming Man Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Have we ever played Wigan in the league ? Just did a quick Google check and apparently we've only played them once in 1986 in the FA Cup. Surely we must've played them more than once? Sour Mash Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Just did a quick Google check and apparently we've only played them once in 1986 in the FA Cup. Surely we must've played them more than once? No, just the once I'm pretty sure. They were non-league until '78, then lower leagues from then until they shot up the leagues a few years back, so not that surprising really. Cabrone Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Arsenal and Spuds as they are only take 30 mins to get to for me. Always enjoy a trip to Norwich too, my old uni town. SMS too! Missed out on all the fun for the last couple of seasons due to financial constraints.

sandwichsaint Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Not really given it much thought. I will go when I'm available (Sept, Xmas, most midweeks, from March onwards), when I've got the funds (not usually a problem), and when I've got someone to go with (ditto). Much like now in fact; I go to watch Saints and I'm not really that bothered who the oppo are. If it fits in I'd quite like to go to: Norwich, Swansea, Man City, Liverpool, WBA is usually good, I haven't been to Craven Cottage. Not really fussed about Man U, Chelsea, Spuds, Arsenal, Villa, Blackburn, Bolton. Probably won't get as far as Newcastle or Sunderland. If there's a real choice I'd like to have Premier league home games and League One away games please.

Does this mean that anything bought from the club shop will be added as loyalty points !? http://www.sportspromedia.com/news/new_addition_at_southampton_highlights_premier_league_ambitions/?utm_source=Feeds&utm_campaign=Latest+News&utm_medium=rss
stevegrant Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Prices according to Football Ground Guide (not entirely convinced they're all accurate, pretty sure QPR charge far more than is listed on that site), with most likely price for us in bold - some of the games where it's likely we'd take big numbers might, for that reason, put us as a higher category than you'd other wise expect (Fulham, for example) - and any upper/lower tier splits shown together: Arsenal - £51 or £35 Aston Villa - £43, £38, £36 or £34 Blackburn - £35 or £29 Bolton - £27 or £20 Chelsea - £59/£56, £55/£52 or £50/£47 Everton - £36/£34/£31 Fulham - £40, £35 or £30 Liverpool - £48, £44 or £42 Man City - £48/£38 Man United - £43 Newcastle - £25 Norwich - £45, £35 or £30 QPR - £55, £45 or £35 Stoke - £35, £30 or £25 Sunderland - £35 or £29 Swansea - £35 Tottenham - £53/£47, £40/£36 or £36/£31 West Brom - £42, £40, £29 or £25 Wigan - £28, £25 or £20 Wolves - £34 or £24 Taking the cheapest ticket from every club, the average price is £31.40. I wouldn't expect us to necessarily be the cheapest category for every away game either.
suewhistle Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Well, I'll go to whatever game is on when I'm over in August: I've never been to Tyneside or Old Trafford, for example. Apart from that can I say Juventus the following year, in the Europa Cup if we don't make the Champions ?;-)
stkev7 Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 That is decent for Bolton, I was always under the impression that they were expensive these last few years. Didn't Man City fans boycott a game there a year or so back due to stupid prices?
CFSFC Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 All of them but in order. Emirates, spurs, united, chelsea, city and these two as only ones I've not done along with arsenal Wigan, and Swansea. If we dont go up - all of them.
Nexstar Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Cheers for that Steve, some places are far cheaper than I had imagined. Chelsea can stick it though.

I wouldn't expect us to necessarily be the cheapest category for every away game either. That average doesn't seem so bad with some games available at less than £30 (tho that does include two of the sides likely to go down). When you consider this year's away games have been generally £25-£30 it looks like you could still see half a dozen games for similar prices to this year. Looks like you could see another half dozen games for plus £5, and you are looking at perhaps plus £10-£15 for the big boys. Not so bad for a single person when you look at it like that but if you are buying for a pair of for family it certainly starts clocking up - I guess the 'main' costs for most people will remain transport costs, either public transport or a tank of fuel. bender Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 Highbury was always one of my favourite away days back in the day, even though we often lost by a fair few. I went to Highbury when we went down. Remember being in dream land when it went from 1 - 0 to 1 - 2. Flipping RVP!! That would have kept us up. Ewell Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 I have a fair few to still do in the Prem. I will try and do them all as long as they are not midweek and nor too expensive. I am a little surprised I have never managed to get Wolves or Blackburn in. Arsenal Blackburn Rovers Everton Liverpool Sunderland Swansea Wigan Wolves
stockportsaint Posted 27 March, 2012 Share Posted 27 March, 2012 IF we go up, I'm looking forward to 5-8 games an hour from my house: Liverpool Everton Man ure Citeh Where we'll be playing 4-5-1 for a draw for 90 mins. And then where we might have a chance of a win: Stoke And 0-3 of Blackburn Bolton Wigan Bit further afield will be Newcastle and Soonland. However the away fans spot at St James is that high its a ****take, so I'll prob give it a miss. Apart from those, I'll want to do Arsenal for the new ground, possibly Villa and west brom for proper grounds and decent boozers. Think I'll give Spurs, Qpr, Fulham and Chelsea a miss, as I already have one mortgage.
diggers Posted 29 March, 2012 Share Posted 29 March, 2012 My two most hated grounds last time, Villa and Everton, (not tempting fate but) looking forward to Arsenal, new ground for me, Liverpool, big club but always a chance of an upset, and Fulham, mum always supported them and was born in duckems wharf, a stones through from the cottage.
