Not the most popular player on most people's eyes.

However thought he was Donnie's best player yesterday and arguably the best on the pitch once I have taken off my red & white tinted specs

Agreed. My 2nd favourite footballer behind Balotelli. He's hilarious to watch.

But you'll get burned on here saying that btw.

One of those players who clearly has cult potential if he's on your side. Or failing that is an enemy of your enemy as De Zeeuw and the blue few all well know.

TFB I thought he was gash most of the game. Happy to get falling around and generally winding people up. I suppose that is his level these days but I wouldn't think he could get into a decent team. Maybe a couple of crosses, but he never really troubled our defense.

I must have been watching a different game because in the game I watches, Giles Barnes was comfortably their best player.

As someone said above - he's the sort of player who is a cult hero at his club, but the ptomaine villain for the opposition. Football needs characters like him (spitting aside) as it creates that rivalry and atmosphere - which was evident yesterday.

I thought he was decent too. They had a lot of experienced players in that side, but they're not a team - just a bunch of ex-big names put together and it quite clearly isn't working. Interesting concept though.

Not true. He tied up Butterfield for most of the game (hence some people's incorrect opinion of Butterfield's performance), and was extremely clever, some really good touches. Unfortunately (for him) he is in a team where the other players are no match for him, and so his talent is completely wasted. He is also a nasty piece of work, but credit to him he displayed that at least he had a sense of humour in the first half, his response to the boos in the Itchen/Chapel corner was to blow us all a nice kiss. He was actually less niggly than Gillet, who really has become a bit of a nasty little **** (Paul Scholes without the talent).

Diouf has the same impact on team mates as Joey Barton---diabolical, thank the Lord and NC that we haven't any prima donna showmen like them on our bus

We thought Chimbonda had a very good game - despite the gloves!!
he was absolutely woeful, slow, lazy, didn't track runners, didn't get forward. Looked old and weak. Only Habib Beye looked worse.

Diouf looked a very good player, thankfully he spent too much time argueing with the ref.

Thought he had good touch and a very good cross. However with his pace gone he seemed only to be able to hold the ball up and whip a cross in.

Chimbonda was woeful tho! IMO.

Sometimes, you've just got to love auto-correct. ;)

if Diouf was that good how come he didn't know that you have to take a throw in form on/behind the touch line.

I thought their right back was a complete liability, especially enjoyed Lallana leaving him on his backside in the first half. Was amazed when I realised it was chimbonda

For those criticising his attitude, he gives 30% of his wages to charity, something which I doubt many other professional footballers do, or people to be honest. Although he has had his negative moments, he's a talented player. Out of all the "names" at Doncaster, he'll be one of the ones who'll get a decent club. Other's like Chimbonda (how on earth was he a premiership player for so many years) and Piquionne may struggle. Barnes and Gillett also played well

I was going to mention that, too - had to laugh when it happened: it wasn't even close - there was clear grass between his heels and the line, lol!

Thought Chimbonda looked too good for Donnys level yesterday too....but WTF were the gloves needed for in 20c and sun?!?

Eczema or skin complaint?

Diouf is an attention-seeker. He wants to, and thinks he ought to be, the star of the show.

He's one of those players who you actually wonder if they're particularly disappointed or unhappy when they get red-carded since even thought they've dropped their team right in the mire they'll at least make tomorrow's back page and be the focus of attention.

Just look at the number of points QPR have dropped (some from winning positions) thanks to having a man sent off. Norwich at home for example.

No thank you.
