Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 7 November, 2008 Share Posted 7 November, 2008 I have a Potterton Neataheat 16/22 Mk2 boiler and the (now obsolete) gas valve has failed. It's a long shot but I need a 907219 valve which may only be salvaged from a boiler which has recently been replaced. Anyone any help? If I can't find one then it looks like I'll be in the market for a new boiler so may be back again...

John Boy Saint Posted 7 November, 2008 Share Posted 7 November, 2008 Sorry I don't have what you have got. Our boiler is on the endagered spicies list as some spares are no longer available, and being a cynical bugger I don't intend to get my pants pulled down by inviting someone in for a quote. I was in Trade Sales builders merchants the other day and they had a selection on different types at prices that did not turn me grey. I know they need to be professionally fitted, but it was good to get some ideas of prices before we get the shake of the head and the sucking of air over teeth as the Stetsun is adjusted. You know that even if you find the part you can't fit it yourself or your insurance will be null and void You've tried 'plumb centre' I trust - they link their databases so could get one sent if in stock... Junction 9 Posted 7 November, 2008 Share Posted 7 November, 2008 Apparently Tiggs is a boilerman. The best there is I'd imagine! What? are you serious? I would try Curzon in Totton for this part, if they can't track it I wouldn't bother. Who has diagnosed the fault? Also, the mk2 Netaheat back panels are starting to rust through and there has been a safety warning issued on them. It will go sooner than later so I'd bite the bullet and get a new one. Saintandy666 Posted 8 November, 2008 Share Posted 8 November, 2008 Our boiler broke last week. The freezing cold shower was horrible! However, it was the quickest shower I have ever had, so some benefits.

Wiltshire Saint Posted 9 November, 2008 Share Posted 9 November, 2008 J9 once serviced my boiler. By the time he left my house, my pipe was leaking fluid all over the floor and the my pressure had gone through the roof.

Wiltshire Saint Posted 9 November, 2008 Share Posted 9 November, 2008 If I can clarify, by "pipe" I mean penis and the "leaking" was semen. The "pressure" was my blood pressure after an afternoon of rampant homosexual activity. That is just the way J9 works. DSM, you should ask J9 to come and fix your boiler. Saintandy666 Posted 10 November, 2008 Share Posted 10 November, 2008 (edited) For a service? You're on. PM me anytime. Is that sarcasm, I can never tell on here. I'm just guessing it will be 300 pounds(intial call out being 70ish of that) plus for something VERY simple. So, if it's proper broke, you will be severely ****ed. Scummer Posted 10 November, 2008 Share Posted 10 November, 2008 A boiler service should be about 60-70 quid.
Guest Dark Sotonic Mills Posted 11 November, 2008 Share Posted 11 November, 2008 Right chaps. Excellent service from the eBay seller and the valve has arrived today. Are there any nice gas boiler fitter type people who can do the replacement for me, as British Gas won't do it as the part wasn't sourced by them. Gits. I think your confusing a breakdown callout with a service, however I think the price your saying is quite high. I wont hold it against you as I know you are 16 (?). A service as mentioned above (which is just checking over a system which should be in working order, kind of like a car service) shouldnt cost any more than £100 tops. We paid £80 odd for ours. A breakdown would be different I guess, depending on the urgency of the callout, time spent on it and parts required.

Window Cleaner Posted 11 November, 2008 Share Posted 11 November, 2008 Do it yourself, just don't tell anyone.... oh.. Correct, they'll never know. Just run up an invoice from some registered gas fitter that has gone bust or done a runner with the cash box and bob's your uncle.
