Every time we have a big crowd we have a thread like this, some people go a lot some don't get over it people. We have people leaving early what ever the crowd size is.

 

Might it be the same people?

I always wondered, a reverse of this topic perhaps, but how long could I sit rooted in my seat for after a game, before the stewards started getting tetchy? I quite fancy leading them into a Benny Hill style cat and mouse chase around the Chapel end.

 

Made me laugh. I actually like to just sit there and take it all in occasionally when a game has been really significant. I rush around all week so what is the rush at 5.00 on Saturday afternoon? Unfortunately the kids keep on until I get up these days. I have been told I've got to go by the stewards, but they don't seem up for any comedy chase scenarios.

I swear some people can't be seeing more than 60-70 minutes of the match. Sure, you pays your money and takes your choice, but if traffic's the primary concern then perhaps the pub or staying at home are better options.

 

Also I think there's a big gulf between the season ticket waving (which I find abhorrent) and this chant.

If we have a 22,000 attendance, you question why there were 10,000 empty seats. If we sell out, you berate the extra 10,000 who turned up. What exactly do you want? It's hardly going to encourage the extra fans to come if they're going to have season ticket-waving and chanting directed at them when they do turn up.

There was a group of absolute bell ends in the itchen today. Usually i would go for the Northam but mixed it up. I live in London and go to as many games as possible, home and away, been to 12 this season, can't afford a season ticket or the cost of travelling down. When I walked to my seat, a group of "fans" started giving me some abuse about being a plastic and not knowing my way round the stadium. I have supported this club since I was a boy ffs and go to as many games as possible. What is it with some people, why turn on your own fans, disgraceful.

We always send someone down 5 minutes before half-time to get the beers in. Otherwise we would not get one. Unthinkable. Always stay at the end to clap the players off though.

I'm not sure that an ex pat should be telling regular attending fans how they should or shouldn't act / behave etc.

 

What does that have to do with anything? The man has a right to be able to SEE the matches when he is able to go.

hate leaving before the end, but on the odd occasion I have tried to time my walk down the steps to coinside with the final whistle. It takes ****ing ages to get out if you are sat at the back.

I always stay to the final whistle as I live in walking distance, however yesterday the game was so blatantly sewn up after the second goal, Doncaster looked toothless for most of the second half. If leaving ten minutes early would have avoided 30 mins of traffic, I can completely understand why some people do it.

i stand in the northam, i really cant understand why the people around me were getting so upset about fans leaving early, it didn't effect them in any way, if anything it actually helps the rest of us get out quicker at the end of the game

i sit kingsland north with a group of others, we've had season tickets for years. for home games we normally turn up late, go down ten mins early, come back up 5 mins late and leave between 85 - 90 mins. what can i say, we like a beer. we also average 30+ games a year, but we are definitely jcl plastics

Exactly right. Not an issue for me either as I'm within walking distance and usually go to the pub afterwards anyway. But, especially when we have crowds of 30K+, you'd have to be an utter dribbling idiot not to recognise that the traffic getting out of town is an absolute shocker. if some people want to get away and beat the worst of it, I have no problem with that and can't believe how unbelievably precious some people are on here that have got their knickers into such a twist about it and are stamping their feet about how unfair it all is.

Sometimes we even have a couple of pints and make it back to our seats 5 or 10 minutes into the second half. I was sat in the Chappel and a man and (what I presume) his son (aged about 12) got up and walked towards the aisle. I was sat in the way so they asked me to move and I said "oh, I never heard the final whistle go", to which the response I got from the adult was "We're beating the traffic you pr1ck!"

That's my thinking.

 

People can come and go as they please. If you want to turn up just as the half-time whistle goes, watch the half-time entertainment and leave before the second half begins, that's your right!

 

I can't quite get my head round the beer at half time thing either. I have a couple of pints before the game and a couple after. I can just about survive going without between 345pm and 4pm. But each to their own, I guess.

In Kingsland Centre we spent the most important point of the match getting up and down from our seats to allow the fire drill to be a success.

The timing of the chant was perfect, hence the OP.

Plastics because the tension with ten minutes to go was lost on those leaving.

I leave early so I can get home and have a w*nk. Not.

 

I have nothing better to do on my Saturdays, other than go watch Saints play. AFTER the match had a bbq and a few beers.

 

Pretty sure I've missed a last min goal from a corner before because people in front have decided they wanted to leave early and therefore their entire row had to stand up to let them past.

I have always found the people leaving early to be utterly ridiculous.

 

Going to see Saints costs the best part of 50 quid at least all-in-all, then to leave in the last 5 mins where everything can change is pathetic.

 

Sitting in the traffic jam, in slience or listening to the moronic comments on Radio Solent from people who cannot string two words together, glowing in the aftermath of a good win, numb ambivalence at a draw, or suffering the pain of a costly defeat, is all part of the game of supporting Saints.

I find it rude and disrepectful to the players. One would not do it at the Theatre or School Play I am sure. Not only that, season ticket holders miss seeing the equivilent of at least one whole match by leaving early each time. That canot be good value for their ticket surely?
