Fire Drill Chant

I think it's pretty pathetic chanting at your own fans. Pretty sad really.

Almost as bad as the season ticket waving nonsense

Can't say I agree that the 2 things are anywhere near as bad. For what it's worth i laughed at the fire drill chant. Quite a few blokes looked pretty sheepish while they were trotting down the steps to the exit too. Good.

Personally I think it's pretty pathetic leaving the ground on 85 minutes when your team is just about to inch closer to promotion back to the top flight ater one season in the Championship. But hey, they probably all had more important things to do than show the team some appreciation.

I go down when the extra time is announced. The reason being, that it can be hell getting out of block 42 without a head start. But I wait as close as possible to the exit to the concourse to watch the final minutes until the final whistle. I suspect that others do this too, so the impression that we are leaving is false. From that point of view, I feel that is better than those fans who miss the last 5 minutes of the first half because they can't wait to get a beer own their throat.

I was sat in the Chappel and a man and (what I presume) his son (aged about 12) got up and walked towards the aisle. I was sat in the way so they asked me to move and I said "oh, I never heard the final whistle go", to which the response I got from the adult was "We're beating the traffic you pr1ck!"

If you were that man, sat block 18, row C, do us a favour and learn some manners before returning to St. Mary's

(He was constantly moaning throughout the game, taking Lambert off was "clueless" and Sharp "should have shot earlier" for the second goal)

It's ****ing pathetic that 5k(ish) fans were leaving with 5-10 mins to go. The team deserved applause on leaving the pitch, and clearly appreciated the few that stayed. Seems that too many JCL c*nts turn up and expect a good result as part of their £24 ticket fee. We'll always have a core of 20000, and the rest are plastic c*nts who will probably give the big one to the skates when we bash them 5-0.

haha no offence but fair play to that guy for telling you where to guy.

you deserved that. it's up to people when they leave, none of your business why they might have to leave early.

Some fans have always left early, regardless of what league we are in or how well we are playing. Just as many JCL c*nts would have stayed and clapped the team off.

To be fair Mikey, i heard it from the Doncaster fans first ;p that was on 38mins when there was quite a lot of people going downstairs.

The streams of people leaving 85mins+ is nothing short of disgraceful. I actually sit there embarrassed, looking around seeing so many people heading for the exit. I fully appreciate its a fecking nightmare getting out of the ground when there is a big crowd and then you get stuck in all the traffic too...yes its annoying, but there is no way in hell i would leave a few minutes early just to save myself 20 mins further down the line.

To all those people who leave early - Have you ever thought of what our players think when they see half the crowd leaving before the end? Its shocking and those particular people need to have a proper good look at themselves.

On a more positive note though, yet another cracking day to be a Saints fan!

You're telling him to learn some manners? .... :)

I don't get why people give a sh!t about people leaving when they want. Strange.

I agree. People should be able to support the team whichever way they prefer as long as they do not bother other fans... (aestetics does not count as hurt ;))

I never leave early unless I have one hell of an excuse.

If others wish to that's pretty sad and up to them.

What I do object to people pushing across my line of view while the ball is in play.

Wait for a f*cking break in play you ignorant tw*ts. FFS.

If you stay until the end are you a 'better' fan?

I dunno why 'fans' feel the need to come on here and criticise all the time. Who gives a toss who stayed until the end, does it mean we lose the three points because of it? No it doesn't, get over yourself people, it's your choice to stay until the end like it those who leave early. Your not a better fan because you stayed, if it makes you feel better to tell yourselves you are then fair play to you, all to their own.

Ps, I stayed until the end

I disagree. All things being equal, you ARE a better fan if you stay to the end.

All things might not be equal, of course....

Last time I left early I missed Hornes equaliser against Bolton. Since then even 3-0 down I'll stay.

However, I hate agreeing with the majority here BUT after the champagne football I've seen in the last 2/3 years I think the least I can do is clap the lads off. Jeez, 20 mins extra in traffic or showing the lads representing my City better than any group has in my memory my appreciation. No brainer, plenty of pubs to "kill the time" whilst traffic dies down.

Up the saints!

What makes you better exactly?

You're staying behind to cheer the team off the pitch and to will them on for every last second. To try and cheer Billy onto a hatrick etc.

Sure, if you just hear your wife's given birth or a relative has been rushed to hospital, leave.

But f**king off ten minutes early in order to save yourself 15-20 minutes isn't being as good a fan as cheering the team on to the very end and saluting them off the park.

I can't believe that's even in doubt.

Always astounds me too, but then I am a tight ar$€ so I want to get full value for my £20 odd quid. I have said it before: August 2003 v Man Utd at 85minutes (0-0) on a Sunday the early leavers bell went off and the ants started down the stairs. On 88 minutes we scored a winner all those early leavers must have been gutted...... What a shame - NOT!

Yes it's their prerogative to leave early, but if you are one please get on with it and bugger off because the amount of faffing about you see blocking the view of those behind................ Today in the Chapel 4 or 5 left and looked to be discussing their movements for the rest of the week oblivious to the game and those still watching!!!

For those who don't think the players notice, they certainly do. Be funny if a couple of them ambled off the pitch at 85 minutes

This.

Jos makes it his duty to do a lap of the pitch after the final whistle and applaud the fans, the least you can do is stay and applaud your team off imo.

Same here. Was in the supporters club having a beer and a steward came it to say it was 2-2. At least I got back in to see Horne get the winner! But have very rarely ever left early before the final whistle since

I normally leave after the final whistle but sometimes if I am going out on Saturday night I may leave a few minutes early to avoid the traffic. Does that make me a "plastic" even though I have had a ST for nearly 40 years?

I don't think people that leave early are "plastics", but it doesn't look good to see home fans leaving the ground early when we're winning. Fair enough, you might have a valid reason, but I would much prefer to sit in 15 minutes of extra traffic and applaud my team off the pitch than leave early to get home sooner. Just my opinion really.

Do you seriously think they even notice, let alone give a sh!t?

Of course they do. I remember in the MK Dons game last year with 5 minutes to go a player went down injured and in the break that followed a few of the players including Lambert looked round at the stands with expressions that said "What the f*ck?" as the aisles were full of people leaving.
