Not another draw #WHU they don't seem to want automatic promotion. Stuck in the play-off's when they should be at the top. #disasterous.

This sums up West Sham supporters for me, claiming they should be at the top..Their "devine right"

Take a look at the west ham squad they should be top!!

keep hearing that line being trotted out, but who in their squad other than Green is better than our equivalent, think it is a slight myth they bought a lot but not convinced on the quality.

Think big Sam is struggling his game does not fit what the West ham players can produce

The two "miserableoldgits" who sit behind me were moaning about Sharp today, saying that they can`t see what Adkins sees in him, This was before he scored his goals! They also continuosly moaned about De Ridder (as they always do) and said that Tadanari Lee (when he plays) runs around a lot but doesn`t achieve much. I`m glad that Guly wasn`t playing because they hate him as well. I know that football is about opinions, but these two really bring me to the edge of despair!!

During the second half, I'm sure everyone noticed Pascal Chimbonda and Billy Sharp coming together after the former said something to Billy.

One wonders what it was, as it appeared to affect him for several minutes afterwards, seemed to be visibly angry...

As for the gloves on Mr C.......

Looked like Chimbonda elbowed Billy in the ribs in the penalty box, the verbals then went on for the next 10 minutes

I am pro gun control. However, I could be persuaded to make exceptions. ;)

Just travelling back from the game.

Pretty comfortable and measured display.

We do seem to be grinding out results rather than dazzling (which is absolutely fine by me at this stage in the season).

Most encouragingly of all, we don't yet seem to be showing any nerves as we approach the promise land (did Kelvin have a single save to make?)

We're not there yet, but damned close. West Ham will have to get ten points more than us over the remaining games in order to catch us up (given our superior goal difference). On their present run, they might not even get ten points.

A couple more wins and we're probably there.

Obviously, promotion is the main thing, but I'd dearly love to go up as Champions and to win the division for the first time in our history. So, I can imagine myself cheering on West Ham against Reading, especially if they fail to beat Posh midweek.

Happy days.

Good game, Doncaster played very well flooding midfield and had control of the football in first half. Second half started the same until Chaplow came on and from then on we had control of the football. Haven't seen Chappers name mentioned yet on here tonight but I really thought he looked back towards his best, made things happen and gave Donny much less time on the ball which until he came they had enjoyed. So, though other played well - for me Chappers made the big difference and the second goal.

Werent brilliant today but got the job done. Delighted for sharp and thought he was very good today. Ran around, chased the ball down, got in good positions and two well taken goals.

Good that we can win without rickie on the pitch.

Two things stood out though, butterfield wasn't great and Richardson is a far better player. Also though SDR was pretty awful, even a half fit Chaplow has to start ahead of him. Steve is fine as an impact sub but never does it from the off. His touch was just awful in the first half.

We never looked in danger. It was more a matter of breaking them down and that we did. Our fitness really shined through. They looked tired after 70 minutes and we had massive periods of possession with ease. Rickie Lambert coming off I feel also allowed Sharp to come out of his shell a bit and out of RL's shadow. Good win. I can smell the premiership.

Did what we had to today, looked comfortable without really getting going. Donny only ever came for a point and were looking pretty good for it at half time, but we managed to break them down through patience and determination. Lots of positives to take from that. I thought De Ridder looked good and Barnard looked sharper than he has done in previous outings. Great to have so many options going forward. Not sure I've ever seen a player take a throw in stood on the pitch before, but well done Diouf that was fairly interesting. No real bad performances today. Butters crosses seemed to be very high, slow and easy for the 'keeper, but he was solid enough overall.

What a beautiful early Spring afternoon!

It never gets any better than when we win, the Skates lose and West Ham can only manage yet another draw and the sun shines in a clear blue sky.

Although Kelvin hardly had to break sweat, there were a couple of instances when we could have been punished by Doncaster, had their finishing been better. Certainly, I have a gut-feeling that had Sharp still been playing with them, he would have scored at least once. Conversely, had we not had him to score our two goals, would we have had another player out there today to give us the points? Who knows. But I'm really happy for Sharp that because of injuries in the squad, he had his opportunity to step up against his old team and he grasped it with both hands. It must have given him a real confidence boost and it certainly is encouraging for us fans that a leaner and seemingly fitter Sharp joins the ranks of strikers that would give Adkins a real headache over who to select if they are all fit. I suspect that each of them gives something different and that there are opportunities if injuries strike between now and the final match, to choose between Lambert, Lee, Sharp, Connoly, Guly and Barnard. Some of those could present opportunities for tactical changes, bringing on an impact player later in the game. This depth of choice extends now almost throughout the squad and belief and confidence must be growing as they begin to imagine the rewards they will reap as Premiership players, now that it is within their grasp.

It was an entertaining match, with some good passing and movement from us, also a willingness to get stuck in and win the 50/50 balls. Tactically, Adkins got it spot on, taking off Lambert to protect him apparently against aggravating a slight groin strain and adding bite to the midfield with Chaplow. So we take off our prolific striker leaving only one up front and then score! Good to see Barnard come on a little later and he looked fit and up to making the most of it. Lallana, who had had a great and influential game, made way late on for Hammond, to tighten up midfield and allow Lallana a standing ovation when he left the field. Hard to pick out anybody in a Saints shirt who had a below par performance.

As for the crowd and the atmosphere, it was amongst the best support this season. Over 30,000, probably helped by the connection of the match to the Skate derby, but nevertheless, it is to be hoped that any johnny-come-lately fans will have enjoyed themselves enough today and hopefully enough when we beat the Skates, to become more regular attenders. Mind you, these are the people who will almost certainly find a long lost affinity for us when we are in the Premiership. I would advise them to buy a ST in the Summer, if they wish to be assured of watching the glory teams next year. Or is my confidence misplaced that we will be promoted automatically ?

Saunders moaning post match that the first goal came from a corner that wasn't a corner - it clearly was. Patience paid off and once the first went it the result was never in doubt. Thoughts now turning to which match will be one that send us up.

Professional job well done. Billy Whizz came out of the shadows when Rickie came off and showed what he can do. Looked as if he'd shed some weight as well. SDR had a good game, had one or two bad touches, but mostly neat - I'm obviously not watching the same game as some as I thought it was Chappers' first touch that was poor when he came on. Lallana played best after they switched to the diamond and really started to make things happen. Only real disappointment for me was Butterfield, as his crossing was unusually wayward. Thought Cork had one of his best games for us.

Another great set of results today too (bar Reading).

We didn't play very well, but we probably deserved to win based on the last 15 minutes alone. Knocked it about very well and cut Donny apart at the back. However I think they played excellently up until we scored, then they faded. Thought they probably deserved to get a goal before half time tbh, but they lacked incisiveness up front. Piquionne was a waste of space and Diouf is a c*nt. Their #11 should've been booked for climbing all over Rickie, but it's no less than every other centre back has done this season when marking him.

A few notes - Butterfield shouldn't start for us again this season. I like him, and he's a good influence on the players and a calm head, but his passing was awful today and he didn't want to venture further than the touchline, leaving SDR stranded at times and having to chase long balls up the touchline. Rickie wasn't really in the game much today, and a few of his passes went astray which wasn't like him - perhaps he was carrying a slight knock (hence the sub)? Was great to see Lee Barnard back on the pitch as well, although we seemed reluctant to pass to him even though he found a lot of space and made some good runs.

Good 3 points and onto the next game!

I agree with that, although with some caveats. De Ridder I thought played well, better than Chaplow to some extent but it's all about what each player brings to the pitch. With De Ridder we give up some midfield control, when Chaplow came on we got that back and looked far more solid. We really were little threat on their goal until we changed things around and Billy's header came out of the blue. From then on it was relatively easy. What Billy showed from the second goal was similar to what was needed with his miss against West Ham. But this time he quickly lined his body up and made things look very easy. We never missed Ricky when he went off but to be fair I would not put this game forward as suiting Ricky the best. Good to see Chaplow playing well and I really hope he is at his best or very soon, we really need him on the right.

Not that I wouldn't have preferred him on the pitch, but arguably we played better once Lambo went off...

I'd suggest we played better when actually when De Ridder went off. He's not involved enough when he doesn't have the ball and waits for things to happen for him resulting in us being light in midfield as were today until he was replaced. This why he is only ever effective as an Impact player late on....

Had to chuckle at Diouf's reaction to the first boos of the day as he took a corner in front of the Chapel/Itchen corner - blowing a kiss to us all, bless him.

It was really getting to him towards the end though! Diving mouthy pr!ck - how the ref didn't book him for dissent is ridiculous. He was in the ref's face every 2 minutes screaming at him.

Great win today, marching on together as one. Never really in doubt. Even in the first half when Doncaster had their fair share of the ball we never really looked like conceding (bar the Diouf attempt, great block). We stayed patient, played our game and eventually the chances came.

I have to say I thought the only player that was below par today was Butterfield, and you could really sense Richardson's absence, particularly with crossing as Richardson-Lambert has become a Saints staple goal this season. Butterfield got in some good positions but his crossing let him down today and I feel Lambert could have had a bigger impact if Richardson was on the pitch. SDR was OK, his strength is his pace and that caused Ilunga problems but again his crosses and decisions need improvement. Chaplow helped control the game at SDR's expense and I can understand that because of the way SDR plays - much more attacking and that lends itself to losing the ball more easily.

Sharp had a great game. I knew at half time that he would score at least one, he was by far our best player in the first half IMO. Always in a good position, worked hard and showed some nice link up play. You could tell he was really up for this game. Very impressed with him. Hopefully he can put together a string of performances like today while Guly and Tadanari are out.

COYR, we can do this!

He did elbow him in the ribs at one stage I was worried Billy would do some thing stupid. If Im not mistaken Barnard came over to Billy and told him to calm down.

Sharp was booked for over celebrating the second goal. His crime ?

High fiving a 5 year old nipper :-(

The rules for celebrating are bloody pathetic. he probably made that little lads day and then gets booked for it......ridiculous.

If that IS the case, we should appeal the booking (if we can appeal a booking, probably can't).
