Tokyo-Saint Posted 14 September, 2012 Posted 14 September, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19597158 Just interesting to compare...
Saint_clark Posted 14 September, 2012 Posted 14 September, 2012 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19597158 Just interesting to compare... Jesus christ, that must be costing them tens of millions.
Gemmel Posted 14 September, 2012 Posted 14 September, 2012 Jesus christ, that must be costing them tens of millions. Chelsea's player building at Cobham cost 30 million alone
Tokyo-Saint Posted 14 September, 2012 Posted 14 September, 2012 Jesus christ, that must be costing them tens of millions. Think it puts them into the big time though. Building infrastructure as well as paying big wages now. I can see them being Madrid/Barca standard for years to come now. Not just a pompey/Malaga style firework of success, then back to being a nobody.

The mega rich owners are going the right way about building a dynasty.
Neil Posted 19 September, 2012 Posted 19 September, 2012 Saints Twitter says that the U21 match v Spurs on Monday has now been switched from SMS to Staplewood, because there's a game at SMS the following evening (v Sheff W). Anyone know if you can go along to watch the U21 game at Staplewood, and if there's a charge to get in? Was thinking of going along to see how Staplewood is progressing...
Turkish Posted 19 September, 2012 Posted 19 September, 2012 I'm sure MLG will be on here to tell us that ours is better because no one needs that many pitches and their ice bath freezers are 2inches narrower.

Yawnarama On a more positive note it's nice to see the millions we pay to the oil producing countries for fuel coming back to us in investment - UK plc me up

jayrivers Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 "However, during construction of the main pavilion the Club was informed by our contractors of concerns regarding the stability and strength of the Dome structure. These concerns led to a recent temporary pause in the project whilst specific aspects of the best way forward were agreed. With that process now complete, work restarted two weeks ago." Seems reasonble to me? Don't expect that decision is taken lightly to knock it down and reconsturct it from scratch!

Surely this is a Cortese line as he's a horrible geezer who wants the worst for us....

hypochondriac Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 My thoughts This is clearly a cover up I agree. Didn't we hear the actual reason from someone who was working on it on here?
Thedelldays Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 My thoughts This is clearly a cover up Turkish will be along to say he was only winding us up with his version of events
Window Cleaner Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 "However, during construction of the main pavilion the Club was informed by our contractors of concerns regarding the stability and strength of the Dome structure. so what's that then design fault or shoddy building ?
krissyboy31 Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 so what's that then design fault or shoddy building ? I guess when they cleared some of the surrounding out buildings, the dome became unstable.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Is it feasible the BVI loan could be a tax efficient way to pay for the new training dome as the construction issue arose around the same time the loan was taken out? Perhaps the two tie in with each other?
Raging Bull Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Of course, however, some people have absolutely nothing better to do with their lives than to speculate over things they know nothing about. Very sad.
Marsdinho Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Something is definitely afoot, I only counted 8 workmen in the whole gallery... They must be the ones that Cortese has paid off to lurk on site and make it look as though things are still progressing. He doesn't fool me, if we had loads of money like everyone says we have, there would be loads more people on site. Cortese out!!!
mcjwills Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Cant people see that it is all a computer generated building to fool the masses because the club is going to the wall and we are broke, cant afford players wages, hence why Gaston has gone back to Uraguay. Either that or more likely everyone who has pontificated about the stopping of building was talking Rollocks.
norwaysaint Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Turkish will be along to say he was only winding us up with his version of events Not fair, Turkish admitted that he got it wrong about Guly and doesn't need his nose rubbed in it. He should be respected for being able to admit he was wrong.
Sour Mash Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 I agree. Didn't we hear the actual reason from someone who was working on it on here? The contractors walked off due to a payment issue, nothing to do with the Dome.
Graffito Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 The contractors walked off due to a payment issue, nothing to do with the Dome. Maybe payment was withheld because the Dome was ****ed.
saint77 Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 i can assure you that in the signing in book today there were over 48 guys on site Something is definitely afoot, I only counted 8 workmen in the whole gallery... They must be the ones that Cortese has paid off to lurk on site and make it look as though things are still progressing. He doesn't fool me, if we had loads of money like everyone says we have, there would be loads more people on site. Cortese out!!!
Turkish Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Maybe payment was withheld because the Dome was ****ed. The dome that was already there that they didn't build? Yeah, great reason not to pay.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 The dome that was already there that they didn't build? Yeah, great reason not to pay. The dome wasn't just an indoor training pitch, it has lots of attached rooms/offices/gym/changing rooms etc, all of which were gutted months ago in order to be redeveloped.
Turkish Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 The dome wasn't just an indoor training pitch, it has lots of attached rooms/offices/gym/changing rooms etc, all of which were gutted months ago in order to be redeveloped. So did they build it or not?
Matthew Le God Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 So did they build it or not? Well Leadbitter were working on it for a number of months this year after gutting it, knocking walls through etc etc and now they've decided to knock it down and build a new dome from scratch.
Turkish Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Well Leadbitter were working on it for a number of months this year after gutting it, knocking walls through etc etc and now they've decided to knock it down and build a new dome from scratch. So they didn't build it then. So there would be no reason to hold payment back because it was ****ed like Graffito said.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 So they didn't build it then. So there would be no reason to hold payment back because it was ****ed like Graffito said. Maybe they ****ed it during the gutting process? They were knocking down walls etc in the dome in the Staplewood videos we had earlier in the year.
saintfully Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Maybe they ****ed it during the gutting process? They were knocking down walls etc in the dome in the Staplewood videos we had earlier in the year. Careful, we don't want that kind of sensible post on here. Get yer agenda ahhhhhhtttttttttt.
Saint_clark Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Maybe they ****ed it during the gutting process? They were knocking down walls etc in the dome in the Staplewood videos we had earlier in the year. Don't be silly. Cortese is clearly a troll but doesn't like using the internet in case he stumbles onto something nasty about him. So instead he plans extravagant and expensive construction, renovation etc. work and then refuses to pay. Then he declines to turn up to "detention" when the courts order him to pay up.
Turkish Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Maybe they ****ed it during the gutting process? They were knocking down walls etc in the dome in the Staplewood videos we had earlier in the year. Maybe they didn't and they just didn't get paid. It's not like we've got form of doing this is it.
paris Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Phew just sit ack and enjoy the ride folks ......by the way the goverment has turned the cold weather on so you use extra heating that way they can scrape more money from VAT on heating appliances etc cool ha ....... Good night wtch out for the ghosties ........
dronskisaint Posted 5 December, 2012 Posted 5 December, 2012 Maybe they didn't and they just didn't get paid. It's not like we've got form of doing this is it. Not waving...drowning
Smirking_Saint Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 I agree. Didn't we hear the actual reason from someone who was working on it on here? Tbf I worked on it
hypochondriac Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 Tbf I worked on it Cheers. So it was a cover up then.
Smirking_Saint Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 Cheers. So it was a cover up then. No it wasnt,
Saint_clark Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 Cheers. So it was a cover up then. How did you get to that conclusion? Jesus H.
up and away Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 Is it feasible the BVI loan could be a tax efficient way to pay for the new training dome as the construction issue arose around the same time the loan was taken out? Perhaps the two tie in with each other? Maybe, but I doubt it. One of the main stumbling blocks for Saints being able to conclude a deal was because of the lack of trust by the South Americans on money being released through / by football governing bodies. I imagine the deal to be very simple where payment cannot be stopped after a certain period of time with the money already held in an escrow account for some where around £3M. There's a lot of corruption in SA football within the clubs and the authorities, so it's no surprise they would not want any interference. The construction coincidence would be in line with when they got a good look at the footings in my book, but just speculation. As for tax efficiency, you would be far better to be in debt to the same tune with an extra decent player on the field than having to rebuild the training ground. One thing this does give us a clue about is the extent of the financial back up behind us, definitely not unlimited. I doubt many have added the loan on to Ramirez transfer fee, but that surely must be coming!

Bearsy Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 Ur a gay Penisoil You know, the club what owned the less sexy half of Ramirez.
The Kraken Posted 6 December, 2012 Posted 6 December, 2012 Ur a gay Penisoil You know, the club what owned the less sexy half of Ramirez. Bear; that's twice in the last hour you've enlightened me. I'd completely forgotten that the Ramirez deal was in two parts. You really are smarter than the average bear.
