St Louis Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 Hi All, A few of us are getting a Train from Bournemouth to the Palace game on Easter Monday. It's my first visit, so just wondered if anybody had done that trip before and know what is the best route? Would it be best to go to Clapham Junction or Waterloo first? Cheers! UTS! stevegrant Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 No point going to Waterloo as you'll end up back at Clapham Junction anyway. When you buy your train ticket, get a return to either Thornton Heath or Selhurst station (will be pennies difference between the two, if any). fish fingers Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 I've always got off at Clapham. Just enjoy the fact that because you are on the train from Bmuff you'll get a seat. There is great satisfaction is pulling into Soton Central and seeing the masses scramble for somewhere to sit.
ecuk268 Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 A quick tip. Use Selhurst station as, on the return journey, it's one before Thornton Heath so you should get on easier. It's usually jammed when it gets to Thornton Heath.

St Louis Posted 23 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 23 March, 2012 Easter Monday? Are the trains running that day? I've just checked to book on the National Rail website, and it doesn't say that they arent! Thanks for all the advice chaps... Bournemouth to Selhurst it is then via (several pre and post match beers at) Clapham Junction! See you all there!

oldsarum Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 No rail replacement buses? trains are running but will take longer as they divert via Staines to avoid engineering works at Surbiton so train for example takes 1 hr 42 mons from Salisbury to Clapham rather than 1 hr 15 mins

Bl00dy JCLs - first dibs should have gone to the 3000 who went to the League Cup game there, meaningless reserve team, mid-week away game and I bet 500 of those people won't get tkts for the main event. Being as they're talking about making over 5000 tickets available, potentially more, I don't think there'll be too much bother for those who really want to go. Who are you referring to as a JCL? Me? Why? You have no idea how many home or away games I've been to this season or any other season! Just because I couldn't make the the League Cup game, does it make me a JCL? I've followed Saints home and away for years, including the trip out to Bucharest! I'm ashamed of myself for biting here.... but christ some of our fans can be tw*ts!
Grassmole Posted 24 March, 2012 Share Posted 24 March, 2012 Dellhurst Park, what a game that was! Le Tiss 20 minute cameo and the goal straight from the corner. Freekick first, sixpence to Beattie's noggin followed by my MOTD debut - screaming like a loon in the middle of the crowd scene celebrating. Oh happy day! Enjoy again...
