South City Si Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 Right, as I am a proper ***t I dropped a mug on my iphone and smashed the bottom corner causing the glass to come off a little and crack across the screen. It still works, just paranoid of more of the glass coming away. So, do any of yous know a place that I can get the screen changed in Southampton, preferably Shirly, that won't take too much time or money??? EastleighSoulBoy Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 You can get the kits from Amazon for about £10 to £15 which also include the necessary tools to do the job. Just make sure you order the correct kit for your model.
hypochondriac Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 Yep. There is a shop on Shirley high street that does it for about 70 I think. Opposite to the old woolworths.
Spudders Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 If you have time on your hands, do it yourself. I replaced my whole casing with an orange case I got from the states. It wasn't too hard, just took a while.
South City Si Posted 23 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 23 March, 2012 Righto I'll try the shop in Shirley. Too cack-handed to try to fix things myself, I'd end up destroying the kit as well!
buctootim Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 I guess Saint Scooby fixes them http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?35825-Wanted-damaged-screen-devices&p=1272682#post1272682
Saint-scooby Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 The iphone 4 and 4s is a bit tricky, lots of screws etc, plus the digitizer is glued then bonded and stuck to the LCD, so dont just buy the digitizer, there are some very good guides on the web. if you want to do it yourself PM me for some life saving tips or I can do it all for you.."if I have time" I can also do the ipad screens for the 1 and
Big Bad Bob Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 Divert the money you'd use on getting the screen fixed to a decent phone!!

Big Bad Bob Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 I'd rather have an indecent one. OK, swap "decent" for "proper"
andysstuff Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 Weirdly, the bloke who sits next to me at work dropped his today. Was quoted £139 in the O2 shop, but manages to get it done at a small independant shop here for £40. Can't believe it's so much cheaper here than in Soton. Crazy Diamond Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 I cracked my 3GS within weeks of buying it, back in 2009. Been cracked ever since, never caused a problem though I hear the life span of the phone diminishes once it's damaged. My friend who worked at iSolutions and did repairs all the time told me not to go through official channels to get it fixed as they almost deliberately waste time and overcharge. As it happens, I'm seeing him next week. He told me to buy the parts off of eBay (£12) and he'll fix it himself. Easy.
Reggie Dunlop Posted 23 March, 2012 Share Posted 23 March, 2012 I have used these people in the past for Ipod battery and and home button, although not in Southampton http://www.appleiphonerepairs.co.uk/

The iphone 3's are easier than the 4's you just need a heat gun to warm the edge of the digitizer. I am stacked out for the next few days, if anyone has questions I will try to help and source the items
