cdvdtz Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Brilliant. If we win the league, they are certainly going to have to give it a new name. Too often am I hearing that we are "doing a Norwich". No! We are doing better than a "Norwich".

Too often am I hearing that we are "doing a Norwich". No! We are doing better than a "Norwich". This. Norwich only got on the bus in at the last minute. We're a promoted club that left out the 'finding our feet' bit and sat at the top to be gunned down from the off. A massive difference.
toofarnorth Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 We've not yet reached match 46 so lets not call it anything until it's happened please.
hypochondriac Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 If we get promoted then we have done a Norwich because we were in league one and then got promoted twice in two seasons. To an outsider, that is the only comparison that is relevant.

Doing a Southampton: To occupy the automatic promotion places for the majority of the season before losing your last eight games and finishing third. Dark Munster Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Doing a Southampton: To occupy the automatic promotion places for the majority of the season before losing your last eight games and finishing third. I wonder what they would call occupying an automatic promotion place for 45 matches, and then dropping to third with 1 minute left in the final game? alidiasagent Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Was it Cardiff that held a top 2 position for a large part of the season.. and fell apart at the end? (I'm too lazy to check this...)
S-Clarke Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Was it Cardiff that held a top 2 position for a large part of the season.. and fell apart at the end? (I'm too lazy to check this...) A few years ago (the season of our playoff push iirc) they were 12 or so points clear at the top in October or November. By the end of the season they finished 12th. They won most games for the first 3 months, then didn't win many for the rest of the season.

qwertySFC Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 In all fairness - who would have thought that we would do so well this season - not being out of the top 2 places all season - some credit to the players and manager. Just a thought I wonder if we would have been promoted already if we hadn't slipped up in one or two games
Manuel Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Very impressive Saints graph. If we manage to stay in the top two to the end that'll be quite something. Reading, out of interest:
SNSUN Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Wow. I knew we'd been top two all season but that graph really brings home how consistant we've been. I'd love to post that on 'HobNob Anyone' and KUMB, thus rubbing it in the faces of those that consider us lucky.

I wouldn't bother... we're only up there because WHU have been so poor and under performed. According to KUMB they really ought to of walked this league with all their premiership players, full internationals and budget. It has absolutely nothing to do with how well we have played of course.

If their home form carries on as it is, the cruises may be more sombre than a trip on the Costa Concordia. (Although I like the idea of a party cruise with Saints fans...) Maybe we can take them off theirs hands and offer a couple of lifeboats in exchange. Do the honourable thing...
