pressingon Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 The away form which was such a worry at one point has been turned right around, in fact since the debacle at Brighton we have won 5 drawn 2 lost 0. This includes 4 straight away wins (league), pretty sure we didn't even manage that on our great run in last season, anybody know the last time it happened? I can't imagine we ever achieved it in the prem.
Colinjb Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 We won the first few away games this season and the last few last season. Must have beaten 4 there. 5 in a row I believe. Wins at: Brighton Brentford Plymouth Barnsley Ipswich
Golden Balls Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Pretty typical really. I've been to quite a few away this season and not seen us win.

That's a bit like taking a wicket with the last ball of your over, then two from your first two balls of your next over and claiming a hatrick, doesn't work for me, not sure if it works for the statitisions either. Lallana's Left Peg Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Our improved away form has been a consequence of taking a different approach to our tactics. We still want to have more possession than our opponents, but if the pitch doesn't suit or the opposition press us, we're happy to be more direct and ensure we defend properly as a unit. It's been great to see and shows how we are learning all the time.
pressingon Posted 21 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 21 March, 2012 The question now is when was the last time we won four away league games on the bounce in the same season?

After the second last night we were quite happy to go 4-5-1 and park the bus, it's all about the results now.
Pamplemousse Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 Nope, the most we managed in League 1 was three, which were our final three away games (Brentford, Brighton, Plymouth)
Saint Garrett Posted 21 March, 2012 Share Posted 21 March, 2012 http://stats.football365.com/dom/ENG/D1/away.html Not bad reading after we were all so worried about our away form.
