do you mean the vote that doesnt include sir rickie? great player great season but srl is the runaway winner surely?

Can't say that didn't enter my head as I was concocting the above post. I guess I'm looking at it from a "who has impressed me most when set against my initial expectations?" point of view.

Whilst Richard has surprised a few people with how easily he has stepped up a league it was something I can honestly say that I expected to happen.

So, for me, Richard is doing what I expected him to do (bang in the goals) whereas Jos has exceeded my expectations.

Depends on what one is measuring and from what perspective.

He get my vote for player of the season

second that.

We've had some truely remarkable performance levels this season, some easier to measure than others (Ricky with his Goals) but for me Jos has been exceptional, Ricky deservedly got his plaudits as Championship player of the year, I think Jos should now get the vote for player of the season, always pops up with important goals too.

Is that 6 goals for Jos now? I have to say his first couple of games I was thinking "I'm not sure about this guy" but he has just got better and better. His only weakness seems to be to dally on the ball in dangerous areas occassinally that can cause a few oops moments. Celtic must have some amazing defenders if they could afford to let Jos go.....

I think he should do all the post match interviews!!

He has such a British sense of humour and ability to take the p!ss out of himself it is difficult to remember he isn't from our shores!!

Top Man - looking forward to seeing any of his tweets posted on here later!

Top man and immense signing..Celtic's inability to get the best from him is both his and our gain - particularly if his prolific (;) ) goal scoring takes us that last step.

Hope he's here for the rest of his career!

I doubt if he got much of a chance at Celtic, Lennon doesn't know what he's doing.Only got about 7 games I think.

Looking back, there were many posters on here who wrote him off before he even kicked a ball because he wasn't a first team regular and played in a sh#tty league !

I really hope that in future our signings are given positive support from the start and allowed to prove themselves on the pitch rather than being prejudged by their history !

I love his relaxed, positive attitude - it confirms to me that the spirit is strong within the camp and bodes well for the run in !!!

What does that mean then ?

It means that there weren't many posters on here who wrote him off before a ball was kicked. It's a popular myth started on here because people were initially unimpressed by his signing. Every time someone posts this mistruth I feel compelled to point out that it is a load of rubbish. Expressing disappointment or reservations about a signing on here whilst being fully prepared to change that opinion once you have actually seen him play for yourself is not 'writing him off'. I'm thinking about creating a stock response.

Best signing of the season by a country mile. In the whole of the Championship I mean. Even trying to be non biased here. And I'm definitely racking my brains for other key signings. Lord knows what Celtic were thinking of letting him go, or why the Celtic fans were taking the wee, but he's been fantastic for us.

Absolutely cracking bloke, comes across really well and genuinely appreciates the support. Excellent signing, although I don't think he's quite as good a player as many others seem to consider him to be and certainly not as good on the ball as some seem to think.

In the Watford away programme the player profiles for us were very good, to the point of blowing sunshine up most of our players backsides. The one that did make me chuckle was the one for Jos, where they introduced him by saying he has more Airmiles than Phileas Fogg and listed the Europe wide teams he played for before us.

People think he's good on the ball ? I'll give him "better than Martin".

Still don't understand why people are 'unimpressed' without having seen him play but are willing to change their opinion once they have !!

Not to worry though, at least he's turned out to be a diamond !

In fairness, you did say that his signing was a 'big, big disappointment'. May not go so far as writing him off, but it's closer to that than supporting the fellow.

He was playing here in Sweden three years ago. He was ok but made no great inpact. And this is one of the weekest leagues in europe.

Anyway, great to see him improving as a no nonsense CB.

Everyone loves to see his reaction and pure enjoyment at every opportunity. Fantastic signing!

Of course. Brilliant that he turned out to be a gem. Nothing wrong with being disappointed by an arrival based on the available evidence. A few people (myself included) said they were disappointed based upon Celtic fans comments who had seen him play. Nothing wrong with making an initial comment about a player on a messageboard. It's not like people were booing him at the ground as soon as he arrived. It's exactly the same as being excited when we sign someone. I was pleased when we signed Lee but by your logic, I should not feel any emotion until I had seen him play.

In fairness, you did say that his signing was a 'big, big disappointment'. May not go so far as writing him off, but it's closer to that than supporting the fellow.

It's neither writing him off nor supporting him, it's making an initial comment about a player on a messageboard. I'm happy to say that the Celtic fans clearly did not know what they were talking about! (And arent we lucky.)

You were wrong - just get over yourself.

Incorrect and misguided. You can't be wrong about an initial opinion.

Because I wasn't 'wrong'. I was disappointed with the signing based on the Celtic fans comments. I never wrote him off before seeing him play. What was I wrong about?

Only a linguistic contortionist could make sense of that.

Hypo has a point. A lot of people were underwhelmed when Jos signed but nobody wrote him off. Expressing an opinion which later turns out to be wrong doesn't make you a bad person. Eurosaints comments whiff a bit of childish pointscoring.

A lot of people were underwhelmed when Jos signed. A lot of people were underwhelmed when Romain Gasmi signed. You win some you lose some, refusing to change your opinion based on new information, that's what makes you a complete muppet.

An important point, enjoying your football! It also suggests that he wasn't before, for whatever reason.

As for being disappointed with a signing: it's all starting to be a discussion of semantics, but it does suggest a slightly judgemental attitude. I think you can be allowed to say you are disappointed in not signing "x", but I think you always have to be more circumspect when you talk about your actual signing "y"..

I think you've missed Hypo's point, such as it is. He's saying he wasn't wrong to be underwhelmed.

I love him......... There, I said it.

What a lovely bloke

Great interview clearly loves it here.

Summary - "The Predator" comes to the rescue, tells us fans not to be nervous and gives some road safety advice - priceless!

what an absolutely top top geezer.

It's amazing what a sense of humour does for a person's likeability. There's some on this site who could learn a lesson from that.
