SNSUN Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 NOW I want to do the Beeb prediction league. Even being as stingy as possible towards Saints, it'll be tough to get us to finish in the play-offs. West Ham and Reading have to meet - and I think we could be the nail in Reading's coffin when they visit SMS.
OttawaSaint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Increadible night, I was following at the start and then had to go pick up the kids, caught the last 30 mins, ecstatic. Didn't want to post on the match thread, was too nervous, wanted everything to just stay the same and have us clear at the top. Breathless...
Gigersaint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Amazing night of football, so many unexpected twists and turns even with results that didn't necessarily affect us directly. Keep it going Saints, nearly there now!!
Ohio Saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Mixed news, admit that it helps us massively, but never nice to see injuries like that. I have ethics and morals and all that. I've just found out that I also can be bought at the right price.

SNSUN Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 No HTH Well I will say it... ...I love Adkins and want his babies.
Thedelldays Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 messi is now barcelonas all time top scorer....aged 24 scored his 54 goal tonight....mental
Jimmy_D Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Big Sam sounding a bit deperate in his post match interview.
Dalek2003 Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Hands up those of us who have maintained all season that we would go up top..... *smug* Not me. 17th was my prediction
vince Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Tonight couldnt have gone any better. Two sh*tty, sh*tty away games out of the way with max points. We lead WHU and Reading by the best part of two games, with 8 to go. A result one way or the other between them when they play may well be the tipping point. Can we go up by beating the Skates ? I don't think so - by then Wham will have played 4 games, us 2. Assuming they lose all 4 (67 points) and we win both (then 78 points), that gives a gap of 11 points, with Wham having 18 left to win. Goals about to come up on SSN, btw.
S-Clarke Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 messi is now barcelonas all time top scorer....aged 24 scored his 54 goal tonight....mental An amazing player. He's changed the landscape of goal scoring amounts in a season.
stanthemanfairoak Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 :]Hands up those of us who have maintained all season that we would go up top..... *
View From The Top Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Hands up those of us who have maintained all season that we would go up top..... *smug* That would be me then.
Jimmy_D Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Sod that, he'll live, and his career isnt threatened. Oh fine. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Happy now?
Islander Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Not me. 17th was my prediction Don't worry - I don't think anyone noticed.
Under Weststand Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Oh how good does that table look on Sky tonight
Lighthouse Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Going through all the scenarios in my mind, this one has me pretty excited... Reading only have 2 easy home games left, Palace and Forest. Now assuming they were to win them both, we would just need 1 more point in our remaining fixtures than they get in games against Blackpool, Leeds, Saints, Wham, Brighton and Brum (4 of those are away). We're soooo close.
badgerx16 Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 We are Southampton WE'RE TOP OF THE LEAGUE !!!!! ( And we're staying there )
Ohio Saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Can't..........close............browser with.............Live table on it...........Physically...........................Imp.........ossible!!
Saintjersey Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Absolutely fantastic set of results. Can go to sleep a very happy man.
Seaford Saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 another bit of good news, if you can take it.. Readings Jason Roberts has torn his hamstring in tonights game at P'boro 4-5 weeks out Great news...this news will shut half my household up....whilst other half will chuckle. Oh my God promotion really does beckon. Note to self...must display sympathy to wife over Roberts injury......I am in Dusseldorf, all day meeting tomorrow - it's been a fantastic night.
Jimmy_D Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Nice to see Reading's unbeaten streak finally broken as well now.
S-Clarke Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Nice to see Reading's unbeaten streak finally broken as well now. As well as them losing Roberts for the season, this should derail them.
Stu Man Do Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Just to put this in some perspective to QPR who won easily enough last year ... http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2010-2011/table/2011-03-19 1point worse off than QPR BUT 8 better than Norwich at this point and 9 better than Swansea! Great result thanks for another good Tuesday evening saints! Made report writing bareable!
Whitey Grandad Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Sod that, he'll live, and his career isnt threatened. When you put it like that... Besides we've had our share of injuries this season. Brilliant evening, clean sheets from here on in and we're laughing.
saints_is_the_south Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 What a night. To go away to a team unbeaten in 12 with the best defensive record in the league, and win with relative ease (could and should have been 4-0 up in the first 20 minutes) is an excellent result. Coupled with the other two's results, amazing. And what's best is that I bet you Reading & West Ham fans looked at tonight's fixtures and were probably banking on us slipping up and them gaining ground. We had the toughest game of the night out of the 3, and came through it with flying colours. Said this morning if we won tonight then I'd really start believing, with that win and the other results I am now convinced we are going up as champions. Get in!
suewhistle Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Going through all the scenarios in my mind, this one has me pretty excited... Reading only have 2 easy home games left, Palace and Forest. oh, I dunno'. Forest score a few, you know!
Charlie Wayman Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Excellent well deserved result. Superb tactical changes by Adkins. Fully deserved.
Cabrone Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Well, well - our result tonight was a real bonus and the results around us made it a double bonus. West Ham have a real issue at home (thanks to Alladyce's negative mindset) with 4 home games left to play and Reading are finally cracking at exactly the wrong time with an extremely tough run of games coming up. We on the other hand are looking stronger and stronger. Win our home games and we'll be there IMO.
Ohio Saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 What a night!! I hope I don't wake up tomorrow with a hangover and a dead hooker in my bed again.
corsacar saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 What a night of great results and what a magnificent win. What a time to be a Saints fan.
S-Clarke Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 We have taken 25 points from the last 12 games. Wow. Reminds me of last season's end.

Not easy by a long way and Bristol is their only easy away game.

West Ham add zero points in the four games and they will be on 68. We win against Pompey we go 16 points clear with 15 available.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Just to put this in some perspective to QPR who won easily enough last year ... http://www.statto.com/football/stats/england/league-championship/2010-2011/table/2011-03-19 1point worse off than QPR BUT 8 better than Norwich at this point and 9 better than Swansea! Under Weststand Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 We have taken 25 points from the last 12 games. Wow. Reminds me of last season's end. Yes but go one better this time eh & WIN IT FOR MARCUS
Thedelldays Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 i love reading KUMB....they farking hate big fat sam I can't believe he tried to settle for 1-0 at home.....madness they scored a 90th min equaliser and a flukey goal to net them 2 points massive LOL
Lighthouse Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Just seen the goals on SSN. Fonte crossing for Hooiveld I think Jos might be my man crush.
Thedelldays Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 also, fair play to steve mean had to have a body guard earlier this season to protect him from his own fans. now they are 6 points from relegation after changing the rovers team quite a lot and they have become half decent now wolves on the other hand.......
pap Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Excellent win, and from the sounds of Radio Solent, a thoroughly professional job. Oh, and can we please stop using Carlsberg to express happiness in a situation? I could understand it if Carlsberg (the beer) was in any way good, but it isn't. We all know it isn't. Don't dilute the team's achievement by regurgitating the sh*t you swallow.
SO16_Saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Goals on SSN NOW Can someone post a linky pls - stuck watching bloody Alcatraz with the Mrs
Ohio Saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Just seen the goals on SSN. Fonte crossing for Hooiveld . I can't wait to see it just for the wackiness!!
Give it to Ron Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 What I loved tonight was that Skate git Walsh through gritted teeth saying how comfortable we were. Fantastic result lets not do a usual and blow it on Saturday.
david in sweden Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Amazing night - For the first time I can see the Prem in our sights! not wanting to brag,(well not too much) but I had binoculars since the first game v. Leeds.
