Hull 0 - 2 Saints - Post Match Reaction Thread

NOW I want to do the Beeb prediction league. Even being as stingy as possible towards Saints, it'll be tough to get us to finish in the play-offs. West Ham and Reading have to meet - and I think we could be the nail in Reading's coffin when they visit SMS.

Increadible night, I was following at the start and then had to go pick up the kids, caught the last 30 mins, ecstatic. Didn't want to post on the match thread, was too nervous, wanted everything to just stay the same and have us clear at the top.

Breathless...

I'd say it could well be the title decider, West Ham look decidedly dodgy at the moment.

Tonight couldnt have gone any better.

Two sh*tty, sh*tty away games out of the way with max points. We lead WHU and Reading by the best part of two games, with 8 to go. A result one way or the other between them when they play may well be the tipping point.

Can we go up by beating the Skates ?

I don't think so - by then Wham will have played 4 games, us 2. Assuming they lose all 4 (67 points) and we win both (then 78 points), that gives a gap of 11 points, with Wham having 18 left to win.

Goals about to come up on SSN, btw.

Going through all the scenarios in my mind, this one has me pretty excited...

Reading only have 2 easy home games left, Palace and Forest. Now assuming they were to win them both, we would just need 1 more point in our remaining fixtures than they get in games against Blackpool, Leeds, Saints, Wham, Brighton and Brum (4 of those are away).

We're soooo close. :)

another bit of good news, if you can take it..

Readings Jason Roberts has torn his hamstring in tonights game at P'boro

4-5 weeks out

Great news...this news will shut half my household up....whilst other half will chuckle.

Oh my God promotion really does beckon.

Note to self...must display sympathy to wife over Roberts injury......I am in Dusseldorf, all day meeting tomorrow - it's been a fantastic night.

Just to put this in some perspective to QPR who won easily enough last year ...

1point worse off than QPR

BUT

8 better than Norwich at this point and 9 better than Swansea!

Great result thanks for another good Tuesday evening saints! Made report writing bareable!

What a night. To go away to a team unbeaten in 12 with the best defensive record in the league, and win with relative ease (could and should have been 4-0 up in the first 20 minutes) is an excellent result. Coupled with the other two's results, amazing.

And what's best is that I bet you Reading & West Ham fans looked at tonight's fixtures and were probably banking on us slipping up and them gaining ground. We had the toughest game of the night out of the 3, and came through it with flying colours.

Said this morning if we won tonight then I'd really start believing, with that win and the other results I am now convinced we are going up as champions.

Get in!

Well, well - our result tonight was a real bonus and the results around us made it a double bonus.

West Ham have a real issue at home (thanks to Alladyce's negative mindset) with 4 home games left to play and Reading are finally cracking at exactly the wrong time with an extremely tough run of games coming up.

We on the other hand are looking stronger and stronger.

Win our home games and we'll be there IMO.

And their remaining home games are Brighton, Brum, Hull and Reading. Not easy by a long way and Bristol is their only easy away game.

we have 75 points already, so add 6 more and that makes 81.

West Ham add zero points in the four games and they will be on 68. We win against Pompey we go 16 points clear with 15 available.

Excellent win, and from the sounds of Radio Solent, a thoroughly professional job.

Oh, and can we please stop using Carlsberg to express happiness in a situation? I could understand it if Carlsberg (the beer) was in any way good, but it isn't. We all know it isn't. Don't dilute the team's achievement by regurgitating the sh*t you swallow.
