dune Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 As far as i'm aware the only point of it is if you don't get freeview. Better to get a PS3 which has bbc/itv/c4 i player built in rather than something that will prove to be surplus to requirements that gathers dust. Big Bad Bob Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 http://www.freesat.co.uk/what-you-get/our-channels I think the Renault-TV channel would seal the deal for me. On and to answer the OP, Sports channels are non-existant (unless you get a CI module! [Can you get a CI module with Freesat?]) and the kids channels suck. sotonswan Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 There's a recent thread on FreeSat on SW here. The box you link to doesn't mention a hard disk. You want to record programs? This year I had SKY again as Swans were in the PL, but I don't think it's really worth it. Maybe Saints in PL as well will swing it. Our old Freesat box (Humax HDR) is now our spare box in the bedroom. This is a decent bit of kit if you want Freesat for the few HD channels (BBC HD, BBC One HD, ITV HD). Works with an existing SKY satellite dish. However, as of tomorrow (21 March 2012) we should have a few HD channels on Freeview (via the TV aerial) if you have a suitable set-top box. I'm not sure exactly which HD channels as I wasn't planning on upgrading our Freeview box just yet. But you have options. For movies/sports there's nothing much over Freeview, but it's free, so you get what you pay for.
