SNSUN Posted 19 March, 2012 Share Posted 19 March, 2012 For my stag do, I have chosen Bristol. I've never been, although there were reasons behind my choice, and it's all booked, so no saying how shyte Bristol is! (Which I know you will anyway!) . However I ask you, to those of you in the know, where's good to go in Bristol, bars, clubs, restaurants etc and their locations?
so22saint Posted 19 March, 2012 Share Posted 19 March, 2012 Central Chambers.
SuperMikey Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 My mate is a student in Bristol and is constantly raving about the nightlife there. Think he lives on the east side of the city, and there's a few big warehouse clubs that do psychedelic raves etc as well as your bog standard nightclubs and bars. I'll drop him a text tomorrow and ask for some recommendations.
Jack Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 I was in Bristol for a stag do on the weekend of the Leeds away game. There are sh*tloads of decent bars and restaurants very close together in the middle of town. I'm not sure what the actual place is called (it's on the waterfront/river type of thing), but there was a Pitcher and Piano, a few other s****y(ish) looking bars, a really top notch curry house. There is a bar next to Pitcher and Piano, I can't remember what it's called but it was nice enough inside, and from 5pm-9pm all drinks were £1.50. Worth starting the night out there for sure. I remember it had a DJ playing chilled out house music, and there was loads of skirt there. We ended up in Oceana on the Friday night (before the casino), it was average and I felt a bit old (despite being mid-twenties) Went to Syndicate on the Saturday night and had a good night, then went to a Gentlemens club somewhere in the middle of town. Enjoyable. Definitely try the area around Pitcher and Piano, you can't go wrong. And try that curry house if you like curry. And avoid Lloyds bar in that area like the plague. And have a good stag do. I thought Brizzle was one of the best stag do towns I've been to (although miles behind Prague).

Weston Super Saint Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 What are you looking for? As Jack said, head down to the waterfront area and the area around @Bristol. Lots of nice bars / pubs in the area, with Watershed, Pitcher and Piano, BSB etc. Plenty of food options there as well with Za ZA Bazaar - all you can eat world food buffet - or Hooters across the plaza in front of @Bristol. For later night entertainment there is the bulk standard Oceana, or Syndicate a little further up in town. Three doors along from the Radisson Blu hotel there is a 'gentleman's club' which might be worth a look, sadly I know not the name! Plenty to do during the day to keep you occupied as well. Also lots of nice places on Park St, but not sure how many of them will let a large group of 'stags' in! Also a nice bar on Corn st for the footy on a Saturday afternoon, or there is the Old Fish Market on Baldwin St which always has the footy on..... If the weather is nice during the day In would recomend going to the Kings Street area where you can go to the Llandoger Trow or the Apple. There are lots of bench and stuff so you can sit outside. I much prefer it there to the waterfront but it depends on what kind of bars you are looking for.
moonraker Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 You have got to visit the Coronation Tap near the Suspension Bridge (Enter from Sion or Lames Placehttp://www.thecoronationtap.com/,) in Clifton, its is a cider mecca thier own Exhibition Cider is only served in 1/2 pints!. If you start there you can work your way all the way down the hill via numerous bars to the City Centre for the Watershed area.

In fact, the above paragraph in bold is exactly what I expect the itinerary will be on Friday and Saturday night! (Not that I plan an itinerary, that would be an anal thing to do. Although it shows how useless my best man is that I'm organising it myself...) We're staying at the Premier Inn on the Haymarket so I figure Syndicate is the closest club, but we'll definitely be exploring as only one of my party has lived, or even been, there! benjii Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 As others have said, there are loads of the usual chain bars and clubs but the stand-out facet of Bristol is the number of interesting and independent bars it has (Apple, Corrie Tap, The Rummer, Milk Thistle, Haus Bar, Hyde & Co, Illusions.....), although whether those are the right sort of places for a stag weekend is debatable! It also has an underground scene if that's your sort of thing. It makes you realise that Southampton has virtually nothing worth mentioning. You could start in the city centre or, as someone said, start off in Clifton and head down to town. If it's a nice day, you can't beat a beer in the garden of the White Lion at the Avon Gorge Hotel in Clifton Village. From there, Corrie Tap, Clifton Triangle, Park Street, then Waterfront would be a decent pub crawl (and you would be near the strip clubs, should you so desire). Wherever you go, make sure someone contacts an end venue well in advance and ensures you are on the guest list. Also try to get a queue jump sorted. Otherwise you will have a 'mare getting into any clubs at all. Oh, and if your mates are poor/tight, they will probably find it quite an expensive place. SNSUN Posted 20 March, 2012 Author Share Posted 20 March, 2012 I'm the most brassic one, having a wedding to pay for and all! :-( Hopefully we'll have a good laugh, but we're not a raucous bunch really, fairly mellow although we like a drink. 9 of us in all. I must say from what you guys have been saying Bristol sounds like an excellent place for a stag do. A good choice. I'll definitely be booking a club far in advance though, I know a lot of places don't like Stag groups in their clubs.

Yate Saint Posted 4 April, 2012 Share Posted 4 April, 2012 There are plenty of different places to go in Bristol. As above you have the waterfront with the likes of Pitcher and Piano, Las Iguans, All Bar one. I don't normally go that way as its full of knob jockeys. Then you have Corn Street 5 mins away where you have a few places like The Walkabout. King Street is where the Llandoger Trow is, The Apple (serves lots of Cider). This has quite a good atmosphere around the place (aka no knob jockeys) lots of people outside drinking. Then you have Park Street with loads of different bars and clubs, then onto Whilteladies Road and then Clifton. You really do have a variety of places to go. If you have two nights then you could potentially do Waterfront / Corn Street (maybe King Street to start) on the Friday and go somewhere like Syndicate to finish, then on your Second night, spend it up Park Street / Clifton Triangle and go somewhere like Po Na Naas to finish. That way you don't end up going to the same place twice. Have a good one!!

Well in Skins 4th Season there was some sort of hen night on a barge or something like that.Perhaps that exists, perhaps it doesn't.Looked OK though.
