DT Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Us, Reading, Leeds. Hope so. I think West Ham have blown it, mostly because of big Sam, and the fans reaction to him. What do others think?
JackanorySFC Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Saints, Reading, Leeds. Really really want to hate Warnock (but love his passion), actually do hate Bates so don't want them to go up but last 4/5 games they've looked superb. Reading have their tails up but West Ham can't do it when the pressures on.
JonnyLove Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Saints, Reading and Birmingham. I like Chris Houghton.
Lighthouse Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Reading, West Ham, Brighton... could you imagine Honnestly, I think Saints and Reading are best possitioned and West Ham will win the playoffs.
SET Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Reading won't go up, had a very good run of very winnable games. Run of games coing up that they will lose points in
Verbal Kint Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Reading won't go up, had a very good run of very winnable games. Run of games coing up that they will lose points in That's how i see it. They are bang in form, but it's very difficult to see them getting 6 or 7 wins out of their remaining 9 games, which is what i think they'll need. Would love it to be them and us though, as i have great admiration for Brian McDermot. Great manager and seems a great guy as well
SNSUN Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 The top three at the moment will be the top three IMO. Reading to go up via the play-offs though, but I reckon Blackpool will be a team you don't want to meet in them...
saint_disco123 Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 Saints to win the league, reading to go up by autos and brighton to win the play offs. 3 local(ish) games to go to which suits me fine

Jack Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 I'm starting to believe we'll win it. I think we'll go up automatic, we've been in the top 2 from day one and I don't think that's going to change. I'm predicting a huge battle for the top 2, I'd love it to be us and Reading but I think WHU will sort themselves out a bit and do just enough. Can't see Reading maintaining their run through their set of fixtures. The playoffs are going to be so interesting. Think it'll be made up of one of the current top 3, Birmingham, Blackpool, and then one out of Hull, Brighton and Leeds. Leeds would have to put together a ridiculous run to get there though. Think the wheels have come off at Cardiff and Boro are too inconsistent. What a league it's been this year. And what's great is the only thing that you'd really put your house on is Portsmouth getting relegated. Life is good.
AussieDog Posted 19 March, 2012 Posted 19 March, 2012 I fluctuate every day. I'm normally very positive in life, but I can't bring myself to fully accept that Saints won't blow it! Logic says we are going up. The bookmakers say we are going up. Still can't say it though.....

Logic says we are going up. The bookmakers say we are going up. Still can't say it though..... If, this time next year, we're playing QPR, Wolves or Wigan, the thing you can't say won't have happened.
SuperMikey Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 I think it will be Saints, Reading and Birmingham. My Brum mate isn't sure that they'll go up, but I reckon they have enough in their squad to win the play-offs. Would love to see Wet Sham stay in this league and watch them implode!
Mattio Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 It's hard to shake the pessimism but I'm gunna go for 1. Saints 2. Reading Play Off Final: West Ham V Middlesborough Winner: M'boro

It would be agonizing if we dropped out of the top two for the first time on the last day of the season (and even worse, in the last few minutes). A huge psychological mountain to climb in the playoffs.
Noodles34 Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Reading won't go up, had a very good run of very winnable games. Run of games coing up that they will lose points in HAHA, what a ridiculous thing to say about a team that has won 8 out of 9, the way they are playing, the confidence they have, its not impossible for them to repeat it over the next 8 or 9. Always, said that if a team can do one thing, then it can do the same again.
IFHP Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Reading won't go up, had a very good run of very winnable games. Run of games coing up that they will lose points in That's what a lot of fans said about Saints in August, then September, then October, November, December.....
thefunkygibbons Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Saints and two other teams, I don't give a monkeys about
sussexsaint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Saints and two other teams, I don't give a monkeys about LOL nicely put I am still in awe of the fact that we have been there pretty much all season , an astonishing achievement and one I never thought I'd see
brmbrm Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Saints: 5 points clear on the last day. Reading: they continue their good run West ham third, losing the play-off semi hah hah Brimingahm the third spot. It all came to me in a flash
Genk Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Still think we will blow it. A loss tonight, followed by tough away games at Blackpool, Peterborough and Boro. Honestly struggling to see us pick up another win on the road other than at Palace. I would love for that to not be the case but have a strange feeling.
Pilchards Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Staggered to find out West Ham have not won a midweek home game since 2004. They now have two on the bounce! That's very bad.
Saintjersey Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Staggered to find out West Ham have not won a midweek home game since 2004. They now have two on the bounce! That's very bad. But as we found out many times this season records are there to be broken.
badgerx16 Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Saints and Reading for automatic promotion, and Blackpool via the playoffs.

As for predictions, I think tonight might give a clearer picture, ie if we get a win.
kpturner Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Saints, Reading and Birmingham. I like Chris Houghton. Then spell his name correctly
Golden Balls Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Like many others, I'm a Saints fan so I'm convinced we will blow it. I would love it to be us, Reading and Brighton that go up. Would be brilliant for the South and some great away games. It will also take a lot of attention away from Adkins. The media will lick Poyet and McDermots bums and put them in line for bigger jobs before Adkins.

eelpie Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 I think that two outsiders will surge into the play-offs and that the final will be Leeds v Cardiff. I don't mind who takes third place after us and Reading, but both Leeds and Cardiff have been thereabouts in the past and are now beginning to show their worth after an inconsistent season.
Give it to Ron Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 I am still uncertain as to whether we can hold on to top two due to the games we have left being very tricky especially away. However, in this league everyone beats everyone, I think Reading will go up automatically - they impressed me more than any other side I have seen us play. If the media had their way West Ham have a right to automatic promotion more than anyone else - listening to Talksport this morning was unbelievable and we all should just lay down and let them go up. I would love it if they implode. Tonight is tough and Doncaster will be a challenge as they have proved tough for us and West Ham to beat.

Reading will achieve automatic promotion if and only if they beat West Ham at the Boleyn, the whole season turns on this one game in my opinion. They have both got points and GD to make up on us and whichever one of them loses that game will be in a pretty sh*tty position.
Cabrone Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 I think Saints will get top 2. As for the other one, depends if Sam the moaner can overcome his defensive mindset and get Wham attacking (and winning) at home. Reading will drop points so it's up to Wham to take advantage. It's going to be tight but my gut feeling is Wham will just shade it (unfortunately). Therefore play off contenders for me will be: Reading Brum Blackpool One of Leeds\Boro\Brighton No idea who'll win it but we deffo don't want to go into playoffs!!!
CanadaSaint Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 I've felt for some time that WHU may end up in the playoff scramble because they've never looked a very well-balanced, multi-option team to me. Add to this the fact that they'll be under more media and fan pressure than anyone (they already are, really), and I can see them in a real dogfight. Us and Reading. Champions on GD.
bender Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Saints to win the league, reading to go up by autos and brighton to win the play offs. 3 local(ish) games to go to which suits me fine Would love that considering my location. Be nice to go to a tense game at Wembley without being emotionally attached to it.
jamesb Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Staggered to find out West Ham have not won a midweek home game since 2004. They now have two on the bounce! That's very bad. ha ha ha
Chez Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Hope Leeds make it just so their fans can actually get Premiership football for the premiership size ticket price they've been paying the last couple of seasons. Can't see Reading being stopped. They'll beat West Ham and so its just a case of what we can do in our games. The results have obviously been brilliant but we've not been playing well and that could catch up with us. Reading Saints Leeds

Reading Saints Leeds Leeds have a lot of ground to make up, wouldn't count on them doing it actually.20+ points from 9 is a tall order for them.
This Charming Man Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Why is everyone writing off WHU? WHU and Reading will go up automatically. Having been in the top 2 all season, we'll drop out on the last day after a shock draw against Coventry.

Although really don't think there are many teams that will be able to temp Adkins away should we go up?
Colinjb Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 This! Although really don't think there are many teams that will be able to temp Adkins away should we go up? Liverpool would probably be the only one, but owing the the bizare nature of the Premier League we would need to win the League or FA Cup before he would be lined up for a job at a club like that.
saints triumph Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Champions - Southampton FC Runner up - Reading FC Play offs - Blackpool FC
Micky Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 We are so close I am too scared to even think about it....
Manuel Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 So close to call that I do worry we'll end up third. Thinking positively though, us and Reading in the automatic places. West Ham third, then screw up the play offs, remain in the CCC and dire financial worries ensue. You know that saying, never gamble more tha you can afford to lose?
Saint Craig Posted 20 March, 2012 Posted 20 March, 2012 Champions - Southampton FC Runner up - Reading FC Play offs - Blackpool FC This. And I'll love it.
