I know that it has been said before that we do better when he plays and I apologise in advance if this has been done before but I thought that it would be interesting to see what the stats are when he plays and when he doesn't play for this season alone. They are quite startling.

In League games only, when he has played whether it be starting or coming on as a sub we have won 14, drawn 3 and lost 2 this season.

When he hasn't been playing we have won 7, drawn 6 and lost 5.

That works out at 2.37 points per game when he plays as against 1.5 points per game when he doesn't. Influential or what? If he'd played every game this season we would already be on 87 points based on that and probably already promoted. I know it doesn't quite work like that but still shows how important he is to us.

What did you allow for Saturday when we were losing when he was taken off but won the game without him ?

Don't get me wrong, he's a very good player who i rate very highly but he hasn't been up to the form he was showing before his injury just yet.

The defeat figures without him are a bit misleading because Adkins selecting Hammond, Cork and Schneiderlin together in midfield was a major factor in doubling the goals against and only scoring about three goals in eight games. DeRidder was a major impact at half time v Hull, turned the game but then discarded. It does seem that he needs time after injury to get back to form.

I've just been on Soccerbase and they have a new feature which filters player appearances (might have been what prompted the OP). Chaplow is far and away our most successful starting player of those who've had more than 10 starts in all competitions. His personal win percentage is 73% as opposed to the squad average of 57%. I'm about to start a thread on it.

I actually think as good as he was in the early part of the season, since returning from injury, he was been utterly abysmal.

he certainly was on saturday, was well off the pace and quite rightly taken off.

But that's been the story of every game I have seen play since returning from injury. Even in the 4-0 win over Derby he was running around like a headless chicken trying to keep up with the game and passing more to the opposition than team mates.
