miserableoldgit Posted 18 March, 2012 Share Posted 18 March, 2012 I remember Plymouth fans chanting "You Dirty Northern Bastards" at SMS 3 or 4 years ago. Sent from my HTC Desire S using Tapatalk
Colinjb Posted 18 March, 2012 Share Posted 18 March, 2012 Well, I hate being called a Northerner living in Coventry. It's not the North FFS.
FloridaMarlin Posted 18 March, 2012 Share Posted 18 March, 2012 They're probably confusing you with all the Londoners who have second homes down there. After all, London is north of Southampton. Besides, the Cornish are always jumping up and down about independence, so why not cut them adrift?

scotty Posted 18 March, 2012 Share Posted 18 March, 2012 Well, I hate being called a Northerner living in Coventry. It's not the North FFS. It is, compared to here. FFS indeed. Before the Leicester game at SMS, we were drinking in the Standing Orders, bumped into a lad from Coventry who revelled in the name of Micky Lambert Said he was loving all the attention at the games hahahaaa. He looked a bit like an ex squaddie if you know what I mean, told us he had come to Southampton 20 years ago for a visit, met a Southampton girl, married her and been here ever since. He was grateful for an excuse not to follow Coventry any more, cant say I blame him....
Sheaf Saint Posted 18 March, 2012 Share Posted 18 March, 2012 I remember going to an away game at Bristol City many years ago and cringing when a few of our lot started singing 'Southerners, southerners, southerners'.

Emmets is Cornish for ants, 'cos the tourists swarm all over like ants! Grockles is used in the other parts of the West Country and here in deepest, darkest Daaarset!! Although born up the General, I do have a bit of a complex that I might find 3 sixes one day as they knocked down the Maternity hospital where the grand event took place and made it a car park! St Jim Posted 20 March, 2012 Share Posted 20 March, 2012 Well, I hate being called a Northerner living in Coventry. It's not the North FFS. Yes it is - anyhting past the Watford Gap is north. I used to live there (Canley) in 1998/1999 and it was like living in a grim northern town with dwindling industries loads of filthy locals and funny accents. ......unless the place has changed of course.
